Yeah, that is hot for you northerners! We've seen 95º F already this year--felt like 101º F. Nothin' beats a St. Louis summer.

Boy, that's the truth Cricket. We learned that last year at the Session.

It reached 108 here today. The radio/TV people are always commenting that once the temps get to 100, it doesn't matter how hot it gets, because it's just HOT. Don't believe 'em. We who've lived in hot climates for years can tell the difference between 102 and 110, and most points in between.

We (my parents, sis, neices and I) really felt the temperature as we drove home from Oregon today. The van overheated while ascending the hills because of the outdoor temperature, and we had to drive without the A/C. Opening the windows did nothing at all to cool us. I don't know how hot it was in Redding when we stopped to eat (Redding is always hotter than here at home), but it was [:"red"] hot[/]. But at least it was a dry heat.

My son was telling me that the temperature we had yesterday would be a comfortable place in Liberia, only there the humidity is much worse

Does anyone else swell up like a blowfish in the heat?

It was 100 or so when we were at Disneyland last week, and close to that when we were at the San Diego Zoo. Cool thing is that we arrived in Brisbane today, where it's winter, and it's 21 C (about 70 F). In an Edmonton winter you can usually append a '-' sign to that 21, so it looks like we're in for a change of lifestyle...

Not really back here in full effect yet, but thought I'd pop my head in and say 'Hi'. We've made it safely to Brisbane and are trying to buy a car and move into a house this week...

[:"blue"] WELCOME HOME TO YOU ALL!! [/]

Glad you are safely here. I reckon Brisbane in summer is still way too hot, but you can enjoy it now. Maybe we can set a date for a meeting some time - not this year

Where I grew up in British Columbia (Okanagan Valley) it used to get up to 110-112 degrees in the summer and we used to have to pick potatoes in that weather. Fortunately here closer to the coast it doesn't get that hot. But, 95 degrees yesterday still was too hot for me, Gail.

It has been 105 degrees for the past three days here in Riverside California. Last night at midnight it was still 80 degrees and at dawn this morning it was 75 degrees. My A/C bill is going to be real high this month. Yuck.

I just spent 1 wk in S. Calif and the temp was >100 degrees F the whole time. One afternoon the car thermometer registered 108 (not the temp in the car).

Spiders, cane toads, snakes, birds, even an octopus

Or possibly even... Bravus!

Yeah, the landlord at our new house, which is in the bush, said 'leave the screen doors shut at the back to keep out the wildlife and snakes'.

It's been getting down to 5 C or so at night, but it's been a lovely 23 C or so each day. This is winter I can cope with!
