Administrators Gail Posted February 27, 2009 Author Administrators Posted February 27, 2009 Manasseh and Ephraim Joshua 16:4 (I had the correct answer 1st on the previous question: God Most High) Yes, you did, Pam! Congratulations! That one slipped by me. AND you are correct on Joseph's kids as well. Let's try another one! What tribe did John the Baptist come from? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted February 27, 2009 Members Posted February 27, 2009 Levi - because his family was from a priestly line (?) Luke 1:5 Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Moderators Nan Posted February 27, 2009 Moderators Posted February 27, 2009 I agree with you Pam, but I have wondered how Jesus - or rather Mary - is described as the cousin of John's mother Elisabeth. I thought both Mary and Joseph came from the line of Judah. This is all trivia so not too off topic ( ) Jewishness is inherited through the maternal line, but I guess lineage is attributed to the paternal line. So I assume Mary had some Levite relatives through one of her parents. Quote
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted February 27, 2009 Members Posted February 27, 2009 Nan, I was wondering about that too...I couldn't find any reference to John the Baptist's lineage to say for certain that he was a Levite except for "the priestly line", but then remembering his cousin-relationship to Jesus (from Judah) is puzzling. Perhaps, as you said, the kinship could have come from the male side of Mary's relatives...I knew Jewishness is maternally inherited, too, and that put a twist to the puzzle, but maybe solves it. ?? Administrators Gail Posted February 27, 2009 Author Administrators Posted February 27, 2009 I LOVE it when people think!!! Yes, Pam- I couldn't stump you! And Nan, good pondering! I don't even know if there is a specific reference to John's lineage. But the laws of the priests will be found in Leviticus. Okay, try this: Which of the tribes established its own idolatrous cult? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Cosmin M. Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 The tribe of Benjamin was famous for its archers (1Sam 20:20, 1Sam 20:36; 2 Sam 1:22; 1Chr 8:40; 1Chr 12:2) and slingers (Jdg 20:6). Quote
Administrators Gail Posted March 2, 2009 Author Administrators Posted March 2, 2009 Cosmin, you are on the right track. The remarkable thing about the slingers was that there were a bunch of them who were left-handed and could sling a stone at a hair's breadth and not miss (Judges 20:16) Next one: Which tribe, according to Jacob's blessing, was "a hind let loose"? Members phkrause Posted March 3, 2009 Members Posted March 3, 2009 Not sure but the only thing I could find on that is Genesis 3:24. It doesn't give a name, but it says a cherubim was appointed to guard the garden.
