carolaa Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 They were not first cousins. Can you be more specific? Quote
Members phkrause Posted March 14, 2009 Members Posted March 14, 2009 Your going to make me give you the exact answer aren't you. I'm not very good with the family tree thing. hahaha So I'm going to guess 2nd or 3rd cousins? Not sure but somewhere down the line they are related. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
carolaa Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Yeah, well, they're pretty much all related to each other back then, so "cousin" is too easy. OK, so Rebekah was the daughter of Isaac's first cousin. Her grandfather was Abraham's brother Nahor. I believe technically that makes them first cousins once removed. Quote
Members phkrause Posted March 14, 2009 Members Posted March 14, 2009 Ah! so that is the what the call it. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

Administrators Gail Posted March 15, 2009 Author Administrators Posted March 15, 2009 Sorry, no reference right now. Just the top of my head... Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members phkrause Posted March 15, 2009 Members Posted March 15, 2009 That's pretty good for off the top of your head. Administrators Gail Posted March 23, 2009 Author Administrators Posted March 23, 2009 Nicely done, Pam! Here's another one: How many days did Daniel eat "pulse and water"? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted March 23, 2009 Members Posted March 23, 2009 How many days did Daniel eat "pulse and water"? 10 days Daniel 1:12-16 (my Bible says "vegetables" instead of "pulse" so this was kinda tricky for me) Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Administrators Gail Posted March 23, 2009 Author Administrators Posted March 23, 2009 You know, Pam, with all the questions we've gone through so far in this thread I'm surprised that we haven't run into more translation kinks. But you did really well with what you had! I once had a penfriend who lived in India whose family business was pulses. The word vegetables doesn't quite give the same picture in my mind for the word "pulse". I don't know about you, but I envision lentils and peas and garbanzos. Anyhoo... Why were the seven chosen in Acts 6? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members phkrause Posted March 23, 2009 Members Posted March 23, 2009 They were the first Deacons. Acts 6:5 pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Administrators Gail Posted March 23, 2009 Author Administrators Posted March 23, 2009 Yup! And the reason they were chosen as deacons was to help provide for the Greek widows- Acts 6:1-3 Here's one: What did Zimri do before he bacame king of Israel? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
