Administrators Gail Posted April 21, 2009 Author Administrators Posted April 21, 2009 The story is told in 1 Kings 12 and it was Solomon's son Rehoboam. How quickly the kingdom changed from the peaceful reign that Solomon enjoyed! Jeroboam did have a part to play, in that it was under his leadership that the ten tribes broke away from the other two. The people had been unhappy because they had been so heavily taxed in Solomon's reign in order to maintain his wealth. When Solomon died the people appealed to Rehoboam to lessen this burden. Rehoboam, gaining bad advice from Solomon's advisors, refused. So the people split, leaving Rehoboam with just Benjamin (and Judah, of course). Now... on to the next: After Pentecost, how did the apostles impart the Holy Spirit? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
