Maschil Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 It did, indeed! Have a look in 1 Kings 13:20-24 When the disciples asked Jesus to tell them the signs of His coming and the end of the age, what prophet did Jesus quote? Good question, i never knew Jesus was making reference to a palce in the Old Testament... Jesus really knew the Scriptures Quote
Administrators Gail Posted August 6, 2009 Author Administrators Posted August 6, 2009 Jesus REALLY knew His scripture, for sure, and reciting it was a favourite form of rebuking those who opposed Him, even Satan himself. He was homeschooled and probably memorized those passages as a child. The same tool is available to us! God's Word provides not only hope but power against temptation. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted August 6, 2009 Author Administrators Posted August 6, 2009 King Hiram was the correct answer. Good work, Pam! I'm sorry that it took so long for me to respond but I was away for 2 weeks at Camp meeting. Next question: What king solicited the services of the witch of En-dor? Members phkrause Posted August 6, 2009 Members Posted August 6, 2009 Wasn't that Saul? Good to have to back, hope you had a great time at CM. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Administrators Gail Posted August 6, 2009 Author Administrators Posted August 6, 2009 I really enjoyed myself, despite the sore feet, thanks! I love Camp meeting! But I'm very happy to be back, too! You were correct about Saul. God had refused to answer him, so he thought a witch would give him the counsel that God refused to give. Sad story. 1 Samuel 28:7-25 Next question: Why did God give Solomon riches, wealth, and honor? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 6, 2009 Members Posted August 6, 2009 Why did God give Solomon riches, wealth, and honor? because Solomon asked for wisdom instead, so God granted him the other things as well 1 Kings 3:9-14 Quote Pam      Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

Balak son of Zippor (my Bible isn't clear whether Balak was king or whether it was Zippor) (?) It says "Balak son of Zippor, who was king of Moab at that time...." Numbers 22:4 Quote Pam      Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Administrators Gail Posted August 10, 2009 Author Administrators Posted August 10, 2009 Balak is the one we're looking for. Poor Balaam had to prophecy against the king in spite of himself! From what mountain did Jesus talk about the end times? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted August 10, 2009 Author Administrators Posted August 10, 2009 Yes, thank you, Richard! Administrators Gail Posted August 10, 2009 Author Administrators Posted August 10, 2009 Wow- that was QUICK!! And a tie, too, although the answer I have says it like Pam mentioned, in 2 sentences. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 10, 2009 Members Posted August 10, 2009 I'm not as familiar with the Bible as Richard obviously is... Administrators Gail Posted August 10, 2009 Author Administrators Posted August 10, 2009 I think she does well, too, indeed! And these questions are not getting any easier, either! Once we are to the end of this question book I'm following, we will have to find something else. Just a hint, so you can perhaps think of something in the meanwhile. But Jesus was well beyond anyone asking Him anything, and yes, those are the questions He threw back at those who sought to trap Him. Here's another one: How many days had Lazarus lain in the tomb before Jesus arrived at the site? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted August 10, 2009 Author Administrators Posted August 10, 2009 Right you are- I had John 11:17 as the text and I haven't checked, so perhaps it's in both places. From what location did Moses send the twelve spies into the Promised Land?
