Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted June 23, 2009 Members Posted June 23, 2009 What was the meaning of the handwriting on the wall: Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin? God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end. You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting. Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians. Daniel 5:24-28 Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Members phkrause Posted June 24, 2009 Members Posted June 24, 2009 Not sure if you mean the first time they sent spies or the second time? But if you mean after the second spies, than I think it was the Levites with the Ark, they went first. Joshua 3:1-6 pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Administrators Gail Posted June 24, 2009 Author Administrators Posted June 24, 2009 Yes, you are right on that one! The Levites were first. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted June 25, 2009 Members Posted June 25, 2009 What was the function of the Levites who were not priests? Which tribe was often identified as a "half tribe"? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Administrators Gail Posted June 25, 2009 Author Administrators Posted June 25, 2009 Yup! Right again! The tribe of Manasseh was given two areas in the Promised Land and they were split. Deut.3:13 Now here is an interesting one that I didn't know, and you may find it a bit difficult: After the tribes split into the kingdoms of Israel and Judah, by what tribal name was the kingdom of Israel referred? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted June 29, 2009 Author Administrators Posted June 29, 2009 I gotta admit that that was a hard one! The answer is Ephraim (Isaiah 7:2) Well, let's try another one: How many from the tribes of Israel are "sealed" in the book of Revelation? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Administrators Gail Posted June 29, 2009 Author Administrators Posted June 29, 2009 Yes, all tribes will be represented, but how many from each tribe (either literal or symbolic, you figure)? :) Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members phkrause Posted June 29, 2009 Members Posted June 29, 2009 12,000, which I believe is a symbolic number. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Administrators Gail Posted June 29, 2009 Author Administrators Posted June 29, 2009 Reference for that is Revelation 7:4 What did Jesus tell the disciples that the Holy Spirit would specifically do? Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted June 29, 2009 Members Posted June 29, 2009 What did Jesus tell the disciples that the Holy Spirit would specifically do? That the Holy Spirit would baptize them, and they would become witnesses to the ends of the earth. (?) Acts 1:5-8 Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Administrators Gail Posted June 30, 2009 Author Administrators Posted June 30, 2009 That too! When the Spirit would come, He would abide with us forever- John 14:15-17 Good, Pam! The Holy Spirit bears witness with us that we are what to God? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted June 30, 2009 Members Posted June 30, 2009 The Holy Spirit bears witness with us that we are what to God? God's children and heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ (?) Members phkrause Posted July 1, 2009 Members Posted July 1, 2009 Not sure I understand the question. Sorry, probably my dislexeya (sp). pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Administrators Gail Posted July 2, 2009 Author Administrators Posted July 2, 2009 Pam got it! Let's try another: What does God say in Genesis 6:3 that His Spirit will not always do? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted July 2, 2009 Members Posted July 2, 2009 What does God say in Genesis 6:3 that His Spirit will not always do? NIV says, The Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal...(my CSB version says "My Spirit will not remain with mankind forever, because they are corrupt. Their days shall be 120 years.") Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Administrators Gail Posted July 2, 2009 Author Administrators Posted July 2, 2009 Yes, man's mortality was not the issue, it was man's wickedness. I read somewhere this week something that said that because man was so steeped in sin he no longer recognized its depravity. Interesting... Because of it God's Spirit no longer strived with their hearts, seeking to bring them to see their true state as sinners and bringing them to repentance. So you got the correct answer! Using Paul's belt (or "girdle"), what message from the Holy Spirit did Agabus give Paul? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
