Robert Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 So then, you're saying if a man is habitually unfaithful to his wife, having one affair or one night stand after another, never apologizes, but rather flaunts it in her face and tells her it's her fault because she's supposedly not good enough, she should just live with it? I wouldn't. No....The guy is a jerk! Leave him to the flesh and the devil. That's my opinion, Rob Quote

Obviously, there are exceptions and we can spend all week offering stories and anecdotal evidence of someone that doesn't fit the overall generalization. While on our honeymoon, we stayed at a motel (with our own indoor swimming pool!) that had a couple of porn channels the the TV. While preparing to checkout, I was surfing channels and hit one of the porn channels at the time of a perverted act in progress. That couple-second image was burned into my head for quite awhile. Cosmin M. Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Also, my opinion on this is that women who do this do it either for the reason that they did bad in school and did not get a life because they spent all there time with guys and friends and never studied or bothered to pay attention in class. Or... they have had problems in their like which led them to prostitution. Quote

Robert Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 If there was a death penalty for adultery ... why didn't David suffer the penalty? Grace...but the consequences of that union caused problems the rest of his life. He had what you would call a dysfunctional family. Rob Quote

The information I have read reports that people that buy porn videos (not look at porn on the internet) are married couples. Porn has become an accepted part of foreplay. I have known couples in AA that openly talk about watching porn together. I read another article about internet porn that reported the vast majority of hits on porn sites occurs during normal work hours. That tends to tell us people are looking at porn at work where their spouses don't know about it. So it appears that most porn videos are consumed by couples and most internet porn is consumed at work. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... The real money is made in the stripper bars. There is money in the events in Vegas, but in order to do the special events one has to be in known in the porn world, which means the movies--it is a very vicious cycle. Sadly a lot of the girls needs to be high, in order to do what they have to do in those movies. Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Dr. Shane Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Regarding couples who use pornography, if I were a gambler, I'd be willing to bet everything I have that in almost every case, it was the husband who initiated its use. ... Women (and girls) feel personally violated at viewing pornography, unless they have been persistently desensitized. Which is something Hollywood and other media in our society are doing their very utmost to accomplish. Anyone making such a "bet" should be prepared to be homeless. Pornography is much more wide spread among men because they are visually stimulated. However many women in relationships to initiate the porn. There are even "better sex" advertisements in women's magazines which is nothing more than porno videos. Playgirl has porno tailor-made for women. And should we classify romance novels as porno? Women buy more romance novels than men do. Now Hollywood is making porno mainstream and acceptable. Society should view women actresses in porno as victims but more and more these women are simply viewed as normal people that have decided to use their bodies to make a living. Robert Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Porn has become an accepted part of foreplay. Bingo! Exactly (although I never thought of that). Been there, did that...and the stupid thing is we didn't need to do that. But we did it and we paid for it because ultimately porno is about going outside the marriage bed.....My ex is the one who primarily went outside the marriage, but porno just made me jealous of my wife. It makes you think she's up to no good. I think the sexual sins are the one's that are most seductive. And what follows? Quoting Paul (and notice that he lists sexual sins first and their fruit:) Gal 5:19 sexual immorality, impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, Now watch what follows: 20 idolatry, participation in demonic activities, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, divisions, the feeling that everyone is wrong except those in your own little group, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other kinds of sin. Lineman Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 ... But even the first images that I seen as a kid, still roll around in my head. It seems as if it will never leave me alone. Victory over porn seems impossible, it is way to rooted in my mind. I often wonder how I will ever get to heaven. It seems as if any little thing can set me off and back to the world of lust. That is why I have to take care in what I see on TV or movies. I am gaining victory, but it is not easy. The devil is still alive and active. In the last year or so, someone has dumped porn mags at the front of my driveway. I had to pick them up and throw them away. I new walking out to get them that I was heading into a battle for my soul, I prayed for strength not to look, and I did good almost all the way back to the trash can. Then I looked...how many times do I have to use 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I want victory over all my sins. I can't wait until the day, when I won't sin ever again. I will probably regret writing this. I have attended a few seminars on being a Christian and porn. This is not a subject I take lightly. My soul is at stake. My influence on others is at stake. My family is at stake. This seems to be the most difficult issue for many men. I, too, have images still rolling around in my head of things I saw or heard as a kid. The hormones that run through our veins are very difficult to suppress and seem to kick up their ugly heads at the worst times. I have been fighting this "war" for years and at times have also felt as you do. I can't wait until the day when I won't sin ever again. I, too, have often wondered how I will ever get to heaven, but I keep asking for forgivness, knowing that Jesus died for this kind of thing and I know that someday I will never sin again, praise the Lord. Jesus taught in parables because humans are reminded of things by what we see. The Devil has taken this idea to a different level and is using it against us. Even this thread has been difficult for me to read because of the things I am reminded of (I'm sorry to say), but I feel strongly about what is being said here. This is a real problem for many people, men and women. Maybe for different reasons, but none-the-less it is a problem. Even Ellen White talked about this (at least masterbation) being a problem in both boys and girls. The minute you get off the island (God's love and protection) you get eaten! He said that it soon came to him that it was no big deal. It became just a normal every day thing. Can you be desensitized to nudity? Yes. Does it take more to get you "drunk", yes. It is a never ending cycle, that is until you die. Is the problem Modesty? is the answer Modesty? No and no, the problem is the heart and the answer is Jesus.
