Seems to me MM that the only mind you trust is your own, and maybe Rick's. Don't you think it's dangerous to believe you guys are the only ones with the truth?

John, PLEASE do not call EGW's writings the "Sprit of Prophecy". You know better than that! You can read what the real Spirit of Prophecy is in Revelation. The Spirit of Prophecy is the same as the Spirit of Truth. I am NOT going to take this kind of thing setting down!

As for the truth regarding this whole issue, none of us were there and neither was EGW. So I suppose everyone can make his own choice of what to believe. The main thing here is that we shoud not discriminate against women or race. Women should be treated as the same as men. Period! All races should be treated the same. All mankind are God's creation and we have been told to be in complete unity with God-through the Holy Spirit. We can only do this if we all listen to only His words given to us by His Son. Without doing this, there will never be any unity.

Yes, I will continue to call Ellen White's writings "the Spirit of Prophecy." You have a right to say what you like about that, but I will continue to call her writings the Spirit of Prophecy. Why? Because I believe they are inspired by the Holy Spirit. The "Spirit of Prophecy" is the Holy Spirit who expresses Himself through the gift of prophecy as manifested in the prophets. I believe that Ellen White was a genuine prophet of God. You've chosen to reject her and her writings, and that is your choice. I have decided that she is true, and that is my choice.

Seventh-day Adventists, of course, have a right to refer to Ellen White's writings as the Spirit of Prophecy. It is an accurate way to refer to her writings since she was a true prophet of God.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

But she was given visions of what occurred at various times, and one of those times was the fall. She claims that she saw the fall of Lucifer as well as the Fall of Adam and Eve. She describes what Adam and Eve looked like when they fell. She describes Lucifer. I believe her. You evidently do not believe her.

Exactly. I have. Sounds like you have also.

The issue of what happened at the Fall is not about "discrimination." But the main thing is that we believe the Bible and trust it as the voice of God to us, which is what it is.

I know you do not believe this, and that is your choice, but I have made my choice, and I accept it as God's word. All of it.

You may reject it if you want to. As you say, "everyone can make up his own choice of what to believe."

LifeHiscost,

I honestly don't think most people who study the Bible, especially on this forum, are twisting things on purpose. You are correct in saying that most of us come to Scripture with preconceived ideas, which does get in the way of and accurate reading. This may be wrong but I don't see it as malicious.

Those four words, "who was with her" have been there the whole time, yet because someone that the church considers to have Scriptural authority says that Eve was alone that is the way we tend to read the text when we come to it. Because we have so much respect for this authority and because this is what we have been taught since grade school we just don't see the words that conflict with what that person said.

How many other situations like this occur that move us away from truth because we just are not observant in how well we read Scripture?

I happen to agree perfectly with you, Musicman, re: this post.

Some time ago I came to the same conclusion about Adam and Eve. The comments from the Spirit of Prophecy might appear to contradict that reality, at least in one particular place, but having just today watched a program by George Knight about the real Ellen White, I'm satisfied to believe most people little recognize the value of the gift God gave to the church and how that gift has helped many to see the need for the Holy Scriptures to reveal the Christ of our salvation.

Thank God our salvation does not depend upon how much we know,

but rather on Who we know.

"And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." John 17:3 NKJV

And despite the dangers of misleading and false doctrine, to those willing to accept there might be some places in their own faith that could benefit from revision, they (we) have this promise.

"But Jesus was saying, " Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing... " Luke 23:34 NASB

Blessings! peace
