Jesus also stated: "my yoke is easy and my burden is light". I have found this to be the truth. There are all kinds of reasons besides the Bible being true that this might happen. Belief by itself is a very powerful thing. Quote: So all the things you claim, I refute based on my experience. So we come back to this problem. Your experience has taught you that Christianity is failure. May I suggest that you obviously missed something? What you are suggesting is that YOUR experience is the reference for truth for all others. I don't even claim that. Its difficult to even pin down what Christianity is, let alone find a basis for its success. There is little basis for the confidence placed in it. It appears to be an exercise in claiming things to be true that you know aren't so. Quote Rich http://tiny.cc/CM2j8

No, the experience that God has given me is my reference for truth, I cannot decide what God has shown others. :-) But if that experience matches up to the Word and SOP then I have to say I am on the right track. Plus the experience of the indwelling Christ is real, but foolishness to those that have not tasted it... Mark Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Richard Holbrook Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Amen Mark, I think you are on the right track. Quote
Administrators Gail Posted August 7, 2009 Administrators Posted August 7, 2009 No, the experience that God has given me is my reference for truth, I cannot decide what God has shown others. :-) But if that experience matches up to the Word and SOP then I have to say I am on the right track. Plus the experience of the indwelling Christ is real, but foolishness to those that have not tasted it... Thanks for sharing this! I would love to read more of how God has led people and about His power in their lives. Thanks Gail--me too! Perhaps someone could start a thread on this. I'm afraid if I told you some of mine you would not believe them. Quote

cardw Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Quote: No, the experience that God has given me is my reference for truth, I cannot decide what God has shown others. :-) Semantics. It is still perceived by you. You can't remove the human element unless you are claiming to be god. And it is entirely possible for every person to have a different experience. The difference is that you use your experience to judge what is true for everyone. You have no basis for that other than wishful thinking. Quote: But if that experience matches up to the Word and SOP then I have to say I am on the right track. Plus the experience of the indwelling Christ is real, but foolishness to those that have not tasted it... All I read from you is a bunch of claims, cliches and no evidence. If this works for you, go for it, but when you state that your personal reference is truth for everyone you have passed a line to basically claiming to have god powers of perception. Dr. Rich Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 So are you saying that if one has been circumcised that they are not a born loser? My research shows that circumcision was only a sign--like the rainbow for Noah--of God's conditional agreement. Quote
