I just saw this video a few minutes ago for the first time.

Dancing in the church, the sda church at that.

Praise dancing has been around at least 20 years, in some churches.

I reemember another occasion (this was a few years ago) a lot of up tempo contemporary gospel music was being played. This lady got up and started dancing in the aisle. Not long afterwards the Pastor smote her verbally, in an indirect way. At least that was my take on it.

My opinion? I donno, Matt 7:1, i guess.

I love dancing to Praise music, David danced before the Lord.

In Church and wherever we may be we are expected to dance before the Lord.

If you need practice in how to dance just go to a few pentecostal churches--because I have never seen it in SDA churches yet.

Or go to a few nightclubs for some practise dancing.

Could you give a brief description of the kind of dancing you're talking about? There are many different types even in the various churches.

I used to go to the nightclubs. I stopped when I became an SDA. I can't imagine going back.

I used to go to the nightclubs. I stopped when I became an SDA. I can't imagine going back.

Yes John317, I am joking about going into nightclubs to practise how to dance, but I am not joking about going to nightclubs to evangelise and handout Bibles to them and even hand out some Steps To Christ books there.

I dance all the time in my Pentecostal Church, but in the other Churches like Baptist and SDA, we need to be more conservative and peaceful and settled because they can't handle dancing before the Lord. Hopefully oneday dancing will eventually will enter into the SDA and Baptist Churches then we can sing with all our might the following song:

"I will enter into His gates with thanksgiving in my heart."

"I will enter His courts with PRAISE."

Lets dance before the LORD and be glad and rejoice.

Philippines 4:4 says:

"Rejoice in The Lord ALWAYS, again I say, REJOICE."

Heaven is going to be one big party for all of us True Christians, so lets dance and tell the world that we as Christians do know how to have FUN--good clean FUN, dancing before The Lord.

To answer your question John317, is it ok to dance how David danced before the Lord? My answer from the Bible is "YES", yes we can dance like David did. Please read my notes on this topic below:

Should we feel shameful of our bodies when we’re naked???

In the Garden of Eden, God made the very first male and female for this planet earth, Adam and Eve, and from them two the whole world became inhabitant with people, and Adam & Eve were both naked, and they felt no shame. They are our very first parents on this planet.

Genesis 1:27 says,

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Genesis 2:25 says,

And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

In the beginning of the world, about six thousand years ago, there was no clothing for Adam and Eve to wear, and that’s because you didn’t need any clothing back in those days because there was no shame of any naked body, they didn’t even think those bad thoughts, because it was very pure.

Shame started to come in to the world through the very first sin, and that sin was not obeying God but the serpent instead.

In Genesis 3:9-10, God is calling to Adam to come to Him, but Adam quickly hid himself because he felt afraid and very shameful of his naked body, and later made himself some coverings out of leaves.

In Isaiah 20:2-3 it states that God commanded Isaiah to take off his clothes and sandals, and walk all over Egypt and Ethiopia completely naked for a sign and a wonder against those two countries just listed above.

In Job 1:20-21 it states that Job arose and tore his robe, so he is naked, and he shaved his head, and then he fell down to the ground and began to worship God naked by:

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,

And naked shall I return there.

The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away;

Blessed be the name of the Lord.”

In verse 22 following on it states that Job did not sin or charge God with wrong doing.

So according to the above Scripture reverences, we can be completely naked and worship God at the same time, and not sin or do any wrong.

Hebrews 4:13 says that no one is hidden from God, but everyone is completely naked before His sight, we are all open and naked before Him.

So, according to that, we can be naked and while we are naked we can either keep our thoughts and intentions solely on our Lord Jesus Christ, or you can let your thoughts go astray and you can fall into sin and be deviled.

I urge you all that whenever you are naked, do not let your thoughts go astray, but instead focus on Jesus, on while your naked think holy and pure thoughts, and read the Bible and also sing songs of praise to Him.

So we can be fully clothed or we can be fully naked, but whatever the case may be, do it all to the glory of God, and stay undefiled, pure and holy.

David danced in the procession that was transporting the ark to Jerusalem. There is no Biblical record that he or anyone else ever danced in any way within the courtyard of the tabernacle or the temple.

I am not ashamed of the body. Before I converted to Christ, I used to go to a nudist colony in Reche Canyon and to the nude beaches in La Jolla. So it is not a question of being ashamed of the body or of being shocked at the sight of naked people.

But my moral standards are somewhat different now than they were then.

I am asking seriously about what SDAs are thinking today when it comes to dancing in the SDA church.

Could you describe what kind of dancing you do and what kind of dancing you'd like to see in the SDA church?

Not really.Some people will swing from one extreme to another. I've heard of this kind of thing before.

I thank God for His redeeming power! Yes, some of us have had colourful pasts, but we need not dwell on where we were but where and how God has brought us.

It pains me also when people (and I suspect that those who do it have never partaken) mock those who drink or dance or whatever. I've seen it among church people and I think to myself, If only you KNEW that kind of life! You wouldn't be so quick to mock...

I am asking seriously about what SDAs are thinking today when it comes to dancing in the SDA church.

Firstly, NO it isn't ok for us human beings to show off our naked bodies or exibiting our private parts during PUBLIC WORSHIP SERVICES. It is ok though to do it in the privacy of your own home or on nudist beaches--in which we have one nude beach here in South Australia, maybe we could have a public Church nude worship service on the nude beach just praising God the way that He made us.

Secondly, I am not ashamed of my body either, because it isn't my body, this body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

Thirdly, I have never been nude to a nudist beach.

Fourthly, what I think about dancing in the Church is awesome and there should be more of it, and also with more pentecostals entering into the sda church, we'll teach you all how to get very charisatic and very pentecostal and up and dancing within the sda church on sabbath, each sabbath, and turning the meetings into Celebration Services and NOT boring old traditional type meetings.

According to some of you all, I can dance nude....or I can NOT dance at all....If I choose to dance, I can dance nude AND in the privacy of my home AND with my spouse.....

According to Jesus, the life that He gives is an "abundant life"...To ME, an 'abundant life' would include dancing...for joy...

As far as I am concerned, ALL DANCING is joyful. nude or otherwise...and I ONLY do non-nude dancing....'cuz I don't look that good dancing nude,....no matter WHAT my spouse might say!

As as for the video at the begining of this thread, dancing done IN CHURCH, and DURING A WEDDING is a sign of an abundant life...You'all who have never done dancing in a joyful mannor are loosing out...

It was taboo to dance growing up, but after my divorce, I made a bet that no one could teach me how to swing dance. I lost. some of the best moments of my life were dancing.
