Guest Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 No but they are the words of the prophet. And I believe her over you. Quote

Woody Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I tend to disagree (or argue) that God Himself is a fishing pole. He might be the bait ... but not the pole. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

LifeHiscost Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 If a woman's only means of safety against domestic violence is divorce, she should not be punished by the church for it. And I think the Scriptures agree. "But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."Matthew 9:13 KJV Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
LifeHiscost Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 There should be no fence sitting (discrimination) on WHO becomes a minister if they are qualified and teach the real truth--man or woman! And NO--the man is NOT the head of the household--both must share equally! Why--because Christ is NOT the head of the Church! Jesus NEVER said any such thing! "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body."Ephesians 5:23 KJV If the husband were the saviour of the wife, insofar as he is able, as Christ is the Saviour of the body, it is doubtful the wife, being connected to the Saviour, would find any pleasure in seeking remedies beyond the marriage. Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
LifeHiscost Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Thanks RH for proving my point. Your posts were not the words of Jesus. However they were the voice of men/women as they were moved by the Holy Ghost, Who is Christ in them. "We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error."1 John 4:6 NASB Regards! Blessings! I agree LHC. I believe in the whole Bible, not just the gospels. The problem with husbands being head is only when it is abused, as most men all over the world have done throughout history. Headship is a responsibility, not a privilege. Even among equals, in order for more than one person to function as a team, someone always has to be in charge, or efficiency and effectiveness suffers. That doesn't mean the leader has any right to dictate anything without any consideration for his team members. If he cares about his team, and wants things to run smoothly and harmoniously, he must consult with them often. And if he is wise, he will also delegate entire areas of responsibility to the team members who are better qualified to handle those particular issues. Marriage is meant to work the same way. Even among the three individuals known collectively as "God," the Father is the head, though they are equal in every way, and completely in agreement in everything. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis
Dr. Rich Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Now try to find where Jesus said this. How many times must I insist that you use the words of Jesus--not the words of of a human who YOU think is correct! Go fish! Quote
GreatLakesGramma Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 As I said, I believe the WHOLE Bible is inspired by God. If you don't, that's your loss. Exceptionally well thought out post, GreatLakesGramma. It bears repeating. If I would add anything it would be this, as it is very close to my relationship with my wife, who I must constantly give encouragement that I stay with her primarily for the privilege of her company, as opposed to the responsibility of taking care of her. Being all to human (fallen, that is) I recognize the responsibility (first to Jesus, then to her) as a needed adjunct to the privilege. "And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’" Matthew 25:40 NKJV And I would also like to applaud your wisdom, as a gift of God, for accepting all of the Holy Bible. I believe that the gospel includes all, as what Jesus sent His children to take to the unbelieving world. "And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people"Revelation 14:6 KJV Blessings! LifeHiscost Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 HEY LIFEHISCOST THESE are good points dgrimm60 Thanks, dgrimm60. Sometimes I'm led to believe I'd do better if my posts were the same length as yours. But then when others begin to think the same thing I change my mind. Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Woody Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Yes. Dgrimm's post are short, concise and to the point. They don't leave much for argument. I much prefer that to the verbose babble from others. Woody Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 On this particular issue ... it is good to be stuck in the mud. Ha Ha. Are we arguing? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Woody Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Bump. We need to keep this arguing thread alive and well. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Neil D Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 If figures...only the ubber conservative SDA who always has a retort would keep something like this going.... ....ooopppsss.....did I say that???? Woody Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I intend to argue about this: I'm a conservative SDA ... yes. But I am not a 'ubber' conservative. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators Nan Posted August 22, 2009 Moderators Posted August 22, 2009 On this particular issue ... it is good to be stuck in the mud. Ha Ha. Are we arguing? I have not been following this thread and I am probably not Ubber conservative but I can keep things going if that is what everyone seems to want - especially if keeping it going does not necessarily mean adding anything of great substance. : GAHannounce: Now having done my bit, it is Sunday morning here and I am off to the (heated) swimming pool.
