Mark Good show brother. Maybe this is that which Redwood was referring. "Then I saw all the work of God, that man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun--because however much a man may toil in seeking, yet he will not find it out; yes, more than that, though a wise man thinks and claims he knows, yet will he not be able to find it out."Ecclesiastes 8:17 AMP Blessings! Moderators Gerr Posted August 17, 2009 Moderators Posted August 17, 2009 Did Jesus Christ NEED to have faith in God as being His Father? If He did need faith then He was not Himself God. It is written: "Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the FAITH OF JESUS." Rev 14:12 NKJ Furthermore: "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, TAKING THE FOR OF A BONDSERVANT, AND COMING IN THE LIKENESS OF MEN. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became OBEDIENT to the point of death, even the death of the cross." Phil 2:5-8 NKJ Quote

Guest Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 He gave His Son to die for them, that they might be sanctified through obedience to the truth, divested of all the littleness of self. From them He requires a personal work, a personal surrender. God can be honored by those who profess to believe in Him, only as they are conformed to His image and controlled by His Spirit. {AA 559.3} Quote
Guest Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 True sanctification means perfect love, perfect obedience, perfect conformity to the will of God. We are to be sanctified to God through obedience to the truth {AA 565} Quote

I've never heard anyone say that sanctification is done when you accept Jesus. However .... you ARE sanctified. That is a done deal. The Bible uses the word "sanctified" in two ways: we are set apart (sanctified, 1 Cor. 1: 2) as God's own possession the moment that God justifies us; but then there comes the process of being sanctified (Heb. 2: 11) that lasts as long as life itself, or until Christ returns. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Musicman1228 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I just checked the last two pages (6,7) of this thread and found only one reference to a Bible text that wasn't from either Paul, EGW, or the unknown writer of Hebrews, and that was from Revelation (thank God). Why is it that virtually NO ONE on this thread will use the words of Jesus Christ as found in Matthew, Mark or John to show how sanctification works? Get a grip, people, and go directly to the source of Truth. If you are going to use an intermediary then at least prove the point by quoting Jesus Christ. It seems only fair. Quote
Guest Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Just because you wish people would throw away 1/3 of their Bible, dosn't mean they will. You need to come to grips with that. Quote
Musicman1228 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Richard, You just reproached me for 'throwing away 1/3 of the Bible', yet you almost never use the 1/3 that has the words of Jesus Christ in it. Why is that? Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black? And I don't 'wish' people would throw away any of the Bible; what I wish is that people wouldn't check their brains at the door when they go to study it. The Bible is a tremendously valuable tool in searching for and finding the Truth. It contains Truth and Lies, just as the field does that contains the Wheat and the Tares. It is up to us to discover which is which. God does not come right out and tell us what is Truth and what is lies, but if we will look first to the words of Jesus Christ and compare everything and anything that anyone else says against that standard THEN WE WILL FIND THE TRUTH. The most difficult task in doing that is being completely honest with yourself. It is for this reason that most people will never find the The Way, The Truth and The Life. Quote

No argument there. And since sanctification is the works evident in the body of the believer, those works being from God are the righteousness of God. "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad." 2 Corinthians 5:10 NASB New Covenant Words And if those deeds are not the deeds received of Christ, done in the servants body, then they are deeds as filthy rags and fail to meet the test for the kingdom. BTW Sanctification is the imparted righteousness of Christ. Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
