I am merely stating that no matter how many times we open the Bible, no matter how many times we pray, no matter how many walks we take with God, our perception of Him will be different from one another's perceptions. It is impossible for me to have a relationship with God that does not include "me" in it. Else, it would simply be a relationship between God and Himself. And, that, according to my understanding of scripture, is not what He is looking for. God teaches us each, individually and sometimes corporately, who He is through scripture coupled with relationship. Quote

But I am also most certain that I will be corrected and recorrected and shown many new and exciting things as life goes on. But He brings it to me in the most timely ways possible. He understands each of us, and expects us to learn about Him based on our study and own life experiences. I was raised an SDA, and my husband was not. We each view God from a different perspective. God wants us each of us to be with Him, and I think He courts us constantly and works with our deficiencies and misunderstandings. But I also think that we really will never know all there is to know about Him; we have all eternity for that. "He is patientwith you, not wanting anyone to perish." 2 Peter 3:9, NIV. I keep telling sonny that people who don't love Jesus won't be happy in heaven, and the best way to learn about Jesus is reading the Bible. Last night, my little developmentally delayed boy fell asleep reading text from the Bible. He wants to know Jesus better in spite of his disabilities. A couple of weeks ago, our pastor told us that if someone doesn't believe in God or the Bible, suggest that they start reading the eleventh chapter of John, through to the end of the book. It describes who Jesus is. We think of John as the "one whom Jesus loved," but forget that he was also called one of the "sons of thunder." I can't think of anything else to say; just please will y'all stop the disagreements, and start telling each other how much He loves each of you, no matter how different you see Him. Quote

I'm not laughing at you. I thought it funny, though, that someone would liken C/A to heaven. This place (C/A) IS confused! Our world is confused, too. But God is a God of order. In nature we see diversity in order. THAT is how a good church runs. The Bible is orderly, too. We see some of that here, but not as much as I would like. Pam, the Bible says, "Be still and know that I am God." Doesn't that sound a lot nicer? But FWIW: 1. You're right, Woody. 2. But the role of the Bible, used correctly, is to *challenge* our understanding of God, not to confirm it. That takes courage and humility, which I know I lack, but if all our Bible studies do is confirm our existing views they're pretty much useless...
