I always find interesting the dichotomy between personal claims and behaviour/words.

The choice of "b humble" for a name provides one such example.

Sabbath keepers do not "Hate Sunday". They recognise God assigned

different purposes to different days, and honour the purpose for Sabbath

in worship, and for Sunday as the first of the six weekly days of work.

The commandment does not only say Remember the seventh day to keep it holy, it also says, Six days shalt thou labour.

Why is it that those who say we should not keep the Jewish Sabbath, do not

suggest we should bow down to idols or swear and blaspheme God's name? The same law prohibits all three.

Nan: Does context matter to you or do you just think any scripture can be quoted for any purpose? Exodus was spoken and written to the Jews, not to the Arabs and Japanese..etc.

God sanctified Pentecost SUNDAY as a holy day. God sanctified the 1st day of the week as the day of Christ's resurrection and OUR SALVATION. Those who attend Church on Sunday are witnesses to their faith in the resurrection of Christ on Sunday, not because some LAW told them they had to worship that day.

The Gentiles fulfill the law, without having the law, the law being written in our hearts not on tablets of stone.

it is written (and written before there was a new testament): 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

First, the scripture does not say that the 1st day of the week is a holy day. Nor, does it say that the Sabbath is a holy day for the Gentiles. The scripture does say that the Jews are required to keep the Sabbath holy, it's a sign between God and "the children of Israel", not the Arabs and the Japanese.

Your questions are good because the manifest the fundamental lack of biblical understanding in Adventism. Adventist while claiming to have all this biblical understanding don't have a simple fundamental understanding as to know the difference between a Jew and an Arab, Japanese, Chinese or Indian. Adventism doesn't know what makes Jews different from the Arabs. They think both are obligated to be Sabbath keepers. IT MAKES MY BRAIN HURT IT'S SO FOOLISH!

1st error: there is no scriptural support for "the Sabbath" being "instituted in the garden of Eden". The word Sabbath is not used until Ex.19. The Sabbath was "instituted" as a commandment for ANYONE to keep until the JEWS were commanded to keep it in Exodus 19. No Gentile nations were ever commanded to keep the Sabbath.

Since you have a low opinion of how SDAs interpret Scripture, let me quote non-SDA sources as to how they interpret Gen 2:2-3 which says:

And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation. ESV.

2:1-3. The seventh day was the day of rest, the Sabbath. The structure of verses 2 and 3 in the Hebrew is well ordered in its clauses with parallel emphases on the adjective seventh. The number “seven” often represents the covenant (the verb “swear” is related etymologically); thus it is no surprise that the Sabbath became the sign of God’s covenant at Sinai (Ex. 31:13, 17).

God blessed the seventh day and made it holy (sanctified it) because it commemorated the completion or cessation of His creative work. God’s Sabbath rest became a predominant motif of Scripture. Here before the Fall it represented the perfect Creation, sanctified and at rest. After the Fall this rest became a goal to be sought. The establishment of theocratic rest in the land, whether by Moses or by Joshua at the Conquest, demanded faith and obedience. Today believers enter into that Sabbath rest spiritually (Heb. 4:8-10) and will certainly share in its full restoration.

The account of Creation, seen through the eyes of the new nation of Israel in Moses’ day, had great theological significance. Out of the chaos and darkness of the pagan world God brought His people, teaching them the truth, guaranteeing them victory over all powers in heaven and earth, commissioning them to be His representatives, and promising them theocratic rest. So too it would encourage believers of all ages.

Ge 2:2–7. The First Sabbath.2. and he rested on the seventh day—not to repose from exhaustion with labor (see Is 40:28), but ceased from working, an example equivalent to a command that we also should cease from labor of every kind.

3. blessed and sanctified the seventh day—a peculiar distinction put upon it above the other six days, and showing it was devoted to sacred purposes. The institution of the Sabbath is as old as creation, giving rise to that weekly division of time which prevailed in the earliest ages. It is a wise and beneficent law, affording that regular interval of rest which the physical nature of man and the animals employed in his service requires, and the neglect of which brings both to premature decay. Moreover, it secures an appointed season for religious worship, and if it was necessary in a state of primeval innocence, how much more so now, when mankind has a strong tendency to forget God and His claims?Jamieson, R., Fausset, A. 2:1–3 The holy seventh day

A dramatic change of pace and style highlights the distinctiveness of the Sabbath. The seventh day is not called the Sabbath here, but it is alluded to, for he rested could be paraphrased ‘he Sabbathed’. Furthermore, the seventh day’s importance is underlined by God blessing it and making it holy. The Sabbath is regularly called ‘holy’, but only in Ne. 8:9, 11 is any other festival called ‘holy’. Here, God is described as resting on the seventh day, but the narrator clearly implies that mankind, made in the divine image, is expected to copy his Creator. Indeed, the context implies that a weekly day of rest is as necessary for human survival as sex (1:27–28) or food (1:29). This is an emphasis that seems to have been forgotten today, even amongst Christians.

The blessing and sanctifying of the seventh day had regard, no doubt, to the Sabbath, which Israel as the people of God was afterwards to keep; but we are not to suppose that the theocratic Sabbath was instituted here, or that the institution of that Sabbath was transferred to the history of the creation. On the contrary, the Sabbath of the Israelites had a deeper meaning, founded in the nature and development of the created world, not for Israel only, but for all mankind, or rather for the whole creation. As the whole earthly creation is subject to the changes of time and the law of temporal motion and development; so all creatures not only stand in need of definite recurring periods of rest, for the sake of recruiting their strength and gaining new power for further development, but they also look forward to a time when all restlessness shall give place to the blessed rest of the perfect consummation. To this rest the resting of God (ἡ κατάπαυσις) points forward; and to this rest, this divine σαββατισμός (Heb. 4:9),

So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it: some interpreters suggest that God gives his blessing to those who observe the seventh day, but it is more probable that the blessing is given to the seventh day itself. Blessed has the sense of God giving or conferring his favor, so that the one who receives it receives a benefit. In some languages bless may be rendered, for example, “So God gave to the seventh day his special goodness,” “So God made the seventh day good by …,” or “God made the seventh day special.” Hallowed translates a word whose intensive form means “to sanctify,” that is, “to set apart for God’s use, to dedicate to God.” When translating hallowed in this context, it may be necessary to make the purpose clear; for example, “God set it apart as a special day for rest” or “God made it a special day and made it a day when people can rest and worship him.”

II. The commencement of the kingdom of grace, in the sanctification of the sabbath day, v. 3. He rested on that day, and took a complacency in his creatures, and then sanctified it, and appointed us, on that day, to rest and take a complacency in the Creator; and his rest is, in the fourth commandment, made a reason for ours, after six days’ labour. Observe, 1. The solemn observance of one day in seven, as a day of holy rest and holy work, to God’s honour, is the indispensable duty of all those to whom God has revealed his holy sabbaths. 2. The way of sabbath-sanctification is the good old way, Jer. 6:16. Sabbaths are as ancient as the world; and I see no reason to doubt that the sabbath, being now instituted in innocency, was religiously observed by the people of God throughout the patriarchal age. 3. The sabbath of the Lord is truly honourable, and we have reason to honour it—honour it for the sake of its antiquity, its great Author, the sanctification of the first sabbath by the holy God himself, and by our first parents in innocency, in obedience to him. 4. The sabbath day is a blessed day, for God blessed it, and that which he blesses is blessed indeed. God has put an honour upon it, has appointed us, on that day, to bless him, and has promised, on that day, to meet us and bless us. 5. The sabbath day is a holy day, for God has sanctified it. He has separated and distinguished it from the rest of the days of the week, and he has consecrated it and set it apart to himself and his own service and honour.

Henry, M. (1996, c1991). Matthew Henry's commentary on the whole Bible : Complete and unabridged in one volume (Ge 2:1). Peabody: Hendrickson.

And he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. Shavath, the primary idea of which is to sit still, depicts Elohim as desisting from his creative labours, and assuming a posture of quiescent repose. The expression is a pure anthropomorphism. “He who fainteth not, neither is weary” (Isa. 40:28), can be conceived of neither as resting nor as needing rest through either exhaustion or fatigue. Cessation from previous occupation is all that is implied in the figure, and is quite compatible with continuous activity in other directions. John 5:17 represents the Father as working from that period onward in the preservation and redemption of that world which by his preceding labours he had created and made.

Ver. 3. And God blessed the seventh day. The blessing (cf. ch. 1:22, 28) of the seventh day implied—1. That it was thereby declared to be the special object of the Divine favour. 2. That it was thenceforth to be a day or epoch of blessing for his creation. And—3. That it was to be invested with a permanence which did not belong to the other six one of which passed away and gave place to a successor. And sanctified it. Literally, declared it holy, or set it apart for holy purposesThe Pulpit Commentary: Genesis. 2004 (H. D. M. Spence-Jones, Ed.) (35). Bellingham, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc.

3rd error: If you think keeping the Sabbath day is being a model after Jesus and Paul, you are FAR, FAR, FAR, from the truth. Both Jesus and Paul were circumcised on the 8th day, ritually cleansed, keep the Feasts of booths, Pentecost, Day of Atonement, FEAST OF TRUMPETS, PUT LEAVENING OUT OF THEIR HOUSE, KILLED AND EAT THE PASSOVER LAMB ON CERTAIN DAY, ritual cleansings..etc, NONE OF THE THINGS YOU ADVENTIST DO. If you are going to follow Christ and Paul in their Jewishness DON'T BE HALF A_SED. It makes you look bad.

My, my. Why do you hate so much something that God blessed?

Quote:

4th error. The Gentiles who never kept Sabbath Days, feasts ritual cleansings, circumcision of the flesh were saved by faith just as the Jews, who were obligated to keep all the law of Moses because God is the God of both the Jews and the Gentiles.

Notice that these non-SDA commentators almost all refer to the Sabbath as something for all of God's creation - even the working animals were to desist from labor. And I have a few more commentaries saying essentially the same thing if you need more convincing that SDAs are not primitive in their interpretation of Scripture as you think.

the animals, servants, etc., were to be allowed to rest. they were not to be worked to death. maybe that is what you meant.

As I said earlier and you all keep ignoring it, The Adventist don't do what Paul or Jesus did. The Adventist are like some kids, who think if they made their bed, they cleaned up their room. Jesus and Paul were Jews, they kept THE WHOLE JEWISH LAW of all the feasts not some shoddy half a_sed job of the law as Adventist pretend do.

Ah, "Satan's holy day" ? ???? God created the 1st day of the week as well as the 7th. THEY ALL BELONG TO HIM, NO DAY BELONGS TO SATAN. I guess you never read Gen.1 from the beginning, you just started from the seventh day. The scripture says, "the heavens and the earth are MINE and the FULLNESS THEREOF", thus saith the Lord. Pk, your false doctrine is showing up everywhere along with both pure bigotry pure hatred of God's creation. God looked down upon ALL that He created from the 1st day being a day of light to the 7th day being a day of rest and called it "VERY GOOD". I hope you'll take the time to repent before God of the way you have erroneously condemned HIS creation.

You see what your false doctrine does to your soul?? There is no religion on earth that hates a single day God created accept the Adventist. They are guilty of hating the 1st day of the week and the Creator of it. The Sabbath they boast of, while hating the 1st day when God created light and separated it from the darkness. You cannot profess to love God and hate one day and love the other, they are all his. It's time for you to repent of such things.

Well Humble you got me there, I did word that badly. Sunday is God's creation also, but it was not set apart for a day of worship. That is what I meant, so I apologies for saying Satan's Holy Day, when I should have said satan's holy worship day.

As far as Jesus and Paul are concerned, they both celebrated the Jewish Holy Days because Jesus had not yet been crucified. After the crucifiction all those holy days no longer needed to be celebrated because they pointed to and were fulfilled by Jesus.

Sadly, B Humble is among many who refuse to see the truth regarding the ten commandments as being the 'test' just as not picking and eating the fruit from the tree of understanding good and evil was for Adam. Nothing anyone can say or show them from scripture will cause them to change their attitude because they are all so sure that things changed after Jesus' death. Even when pointing out Rev. 12:17's words of God that those who will be in the Kingdom of Heaven will be those who keep all of the ten commandments and abide in the words of Jesus, and the warning for believing and practicing a lie in Rev. 21:8 and 22:15, will not change their opinion because they have built their foundation of understanding upon words written by people who never knew Jesus.

As for the importance of NOT worshiping anything to do with the SUN (as in Sunday Keepers), please check out what God thinks of them in Ezekiel 9. (Look at verse 16 and 17!)

And, as for me, I will stick to the words of Jesus for my salvation.

Incidentally, those who are chosen for the next life will work for six days and rest every seventh. The 10 C's were given to show all mankind the importance of honoring the LORD, who thundered them from Mt. Sinai, by obedience to his Code of Ethics. Likewise, we should not harm others as we carry out our daily business.

As I study OT prophecies of the Last Days, I see a disconnect between them and EGW's scenario. Take Zech 14, for example:

Quote:

1. Look, the Day of Yahweh is coming, when the spoils taken from you will be shared out among you.

2. For I shall gather all the nations to Jerusalem for battle. The city will be taken, the houses plundered, the women ravished. Half the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be ejected from the city.

3. Then Yahweh will sally out and fight those nations as once he fought on the day of battle.

4. When that day comes, his feet will rest on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives will be split in half from east to west, forming a huge valley; half the Mount will recede northwards, the other half southwards.

5. The valley between the hills will be filled in, yes, it will be blocked as far as Jasol, it will be filled in as it was by the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. And Yahweh my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

6. That Day, there will be no light, but only cold and frost.

7. And it will be one continuous day, Yahweh knows, there will be no more day and night, and it will remain light right into the time of evening.

8. When that Day comes, living waters will issue from Jerusalem, half towards the eastern sea, half towards the western sea; they will flow summer and winter.

9. Then Yahweh will become king of the whole world. When that Day comes, Yahweh will be the one and only and his name the one name.

10. The entire country will be transformed into plain, from Geba to Rimmon in the Negeb, but Jerusalem will stand high in her place and be full of people from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the earlier gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king's wine-presses.

11. People will make their homes there. The curse of destruction will be lifted; Jerusalem will be safe to live in.

These events occur at the beginning of the 1K years, I believe. Verse 2 alludes to the Remnant of Those Who Survive the Destruction of Jerusalem in the Last Days.

Jesus didn't get hostile with people by cutting them down and shredding them into tiny pieces just because they didn't understand things the way that he did. There's probably no religion in the world today that has everything right, so we, as believers-in-common of Jesus as the Messiah, should be careful not to attack other's beliefs and attribute to them ignorance, when we ourselves may be in that condition also.

If we are angry with our brothers only for their religious beliefs, there may not be a place for us in the Kingdom of Peace, because we may try to destroy them with either our words, or guns. On Judgment Day, there may not be much difference, according to the laws of the Kingdom, in the weapons we use to try to harm others.

If I am reading Romans 6 correctly, the Biblical way of celebrating the resurrection is baptism, rising from the water to "live a new life".

I do not recall any reference in Scripture to God sanctifying Sunday.

You think the Arab has to become Jewish to be Christian. And the Gentile has to become Jewish to be Christian. You all are the most thoroughly confused people in the world.

Truth is. Hope we all at last see it.

And congratulations all you Sabbath Keepers. I don't believe I've been so gratified since joining C/A than I have in witnessing each of you who love the Sabbath, hold it up for the Jewel it really is, and without a cross word among you. Something like family. No, not the dysfunctional one b humble seems intent on, but the joyful one that becomes evident when people don't spend their time defending themselves but concentrate on defending the faith. Together I might add, as true children of the Savior who loves even b humble, who will get a new name in heaven if he repents before it's too late.

And b humble, maybe you should read the Holy Word so you would know what a true follower of Jesus is.

"And if you belong to Christ [are in Him Who is Abraham's Seed], then you are Abraham's offspring and [spiritual] heirs according to promise." Gal 3:29 AMP

" For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God."Romans 2:28,29 NKJV

"You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews."

John 4:22 NKJV

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus."Galatians 3:28 NKJV

i really dont believe that the two of my friends who have now decided to keep the sabbath would ever have considered it if i had hit them with tactics like those.

While I do decry less than Christian attitudes for whatever reason they are put forth, not excluding my own lack at times,

the conclusion you have come to about your friends is hypothetical and would not be held in evidence in any court of law, especially not Jesus' court.

I don't say that to minimize the effort put out on your part to stop bad logic, but more as an effort to allow God's (Jesus') promises to be fulfilled, no matter how inane some might present the foundation of their faith.

Whatever others may say or do, any loss to the kingdom lies in the heart of the loser, not in the effort of the enemies of God to stand between God's love and promises and the salvation of the soul.

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:"John 10:27 KJV

"My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand."John 10:29 KJV

"Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."Romans 8:37-39 KJV

And may I say, teresaq, these promises are for you also, whatever you may feel about my poor Christian behaviour, and also for b humble, if he is willing to lay down his bitterness

and allow the humble Spirit of Christ wash over his soul. Adopting the spirit of the enemy to fight against those we consider to be our enemies, is not Christ's method to deliver us into the kingdom of Heaven.

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”"Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV

Even Uncle Rich and Old Sailor, along with b humble, and any others who confess that they are now deficient, can live through eternity if this Word is taken to heart before Jesus reveals Himself in the clouds of heaven.

What? Is there a problem with providing verses in the bible to support God's feelings for people who worship the sun and for those who refuse to abide in God's commands?

Most of those who have come on board with our truth seeking group were not SDA members, but who now have seen the truth and accepted the sabbath on their own. They have no problem with what God said about it, but do have problems with what others in the SDA church say about it. I find this very interesting. When a person sees for themselves what God commanded, then it is their choice to keep it or not.

Let's not sugar coat the truth.

Okay, let me digress for a moment. I have already established from your all's favorite Chapter and book in the bible, Genesis 1, that God created all the days of the week from the first day to the last day and called ALL that he created "Very Good" . God making the first day of the week the day HE CREATED Light. The day in which he separated the light from the darkness. We can read in Acts 2: that the Apostles, Elders and disciples in one accord DAILY breaking bread, and in PRAYERS and the teaching of the Apostles. Oh, by the way, IT STARTED ON SUNDAY. (Good thing they weren't Adventist, they'd missed out on the Holy Spirit's Coming for sure). Nonetheless, The Apostles were in worship on the first day of the week and they continued to worship God every day thereafter.

Most devout Christians worship every day not just on the Sabbath day. Now, my question for you Adventist is this: Why do you all teach that worshiping God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, all that is the only true God, is "worshiping Satan" , when they do it on Sunday? Remember, you all agree that God is the God of ALL the Days of the week, not just the Sabbath. One may quite well say that Christ is Lord of Sunday through Saturday.

So, why do you all accuse Christians of worshiping Satan on Sunday and God on Saturday? Both, worship the same God on both Days??? And, isn't it a fact that it's a false accusation, breaking the 9th and 6th commandment?

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

Dr. Rich (SDA)

Dr. Rich: Perhaps, you are reading from a different bible than the common ones used in most churches. I've checked out about 9-10 most popular versions and none of them have "ten commandments" in Rev.12:17.

Any Christ hating Jew can claim to pass that "test". They all claimed to keep the 10 commandments, while they were trying to murder Christ and the Apostles. You all fabricated that Sabbath as "test" commandment. So what? Anyone can become a Sabbath observer. There is absolutely nothing to it. It's like bragging that you took a day off of work. Wow! What a feat? Huh?

Speaking of practicing lies, you are spreading "lies" bearing a false witness against your neighbor which is both a breaking of the commandment of thou shalt not murder and thou shalt not speak a false witness against your neighbor. I don't know of any Christian Churches who worship the Sun. And, you know in your heart, it's a totally false accusation. I really don't see how you all live with yourself. You claim to keep the 10 commandments and then spread a bald face falsehood. Everlasting shame on all who do such things.

Maybe, you are not familiar with the Scriptures, butYou would do well to see for yourself, that the Holy Spirit does not contain such Pharisaical, hyper-sensitivity as you Adventist try to impose upon Christianity. God sanctified Pentecost as a holy day unto himself ON SUNDAY. God sent the Holy Spirit to the Apostles and disciples on SUNDAY. God RAISED HIS ONLY SON on Sunday and "they worshiped HIM", ON THAT SUNDAY. Jesus, by the Holy Spirit is called, "THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD" and we worship him.

Malachi, the prophet under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, refers to Christ's resurrection as "the SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, ARISING WITH HEALING IN HIS WINGS" .

READ GENESIS 1 AGAIN AND SEE WHO IS THE CREATOR AND LORD OF THE 1ST DAY OF THE WEEK AS MUCH AS THE SEVENTH.
