The purpose of good works ... is to Glorify God. So, by not sinning ... we are glorifying God.

Is that important? YES.

Is it necessary for us to live sinless in order to obtain salvation? Or do we rely on the blood of JESUS and HIS Good works for our salvation?

These are serious questions.

It's the Devil's oldest trick to encourage us to think that our good works will merit us salvation.

Woody, I beg to differ with you on this. I sincerely believe that Satan wants people to feel safe and secure mistakenly believing that their works mean nothing to God and they will not be saved because of them. Keeping ALL of the ten commandments is obeying God--and therefore not sinning. Personally, I find them easy to keep. Am I saying I am not a sinner, NO! But repenting and seeking the truth by the way of the words of Jesus and the Spirit of Truth makes one righteous.

Lets go to the final words of Jesus, written long after He has risen from the grave and gone to heaven to be with His Father, God Almighty. You will find these final words in the book of Revelation.

Did not God say that ONLY those who keep the Ten Commandments (covenant) AND the words of Jesus will be the ones who become Sons and Daughters of God? (See Rev. 12:17) Did not God say that He is comming quickly and His reward is with Him to render to EVERY man (mankind) according to WHAT HE HAS DONE? (See Rev. 22:12)

Did not God say "Blessed are those who WASH THEIR [OWN] ROBES that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter by the gates into the city?" (See Rev. 22:14)

Did not God say "Outside are the dogs [those not in the Kingdom of Heaven] and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters AND EVERYONE who LOVES AND PRACTICES LYING"? (See Rev. 22:15).

And count how many times you read the words "Deeds" or "Works" in the warning to the Kingdom of Heaven by the way of the seven messages found in Rev. 2 and 3! God did not say "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches" for nothing--did He?

God gave all of us a choice--to obey or not to obey. God does not interfere with that choice in any way or Satan would have a good complaint against God. Flesh (a body without the spirit) can't make any choice and the breath of God (spirit) can't make a choice. Only when they are together making a living soul can it make a choice.

Therefore, he who says "the spirit is willing but the flesh is week" is either mistaken or not telling the truth because this is a complete impossibility! If you don't believe this, then die and lets see if your flesh can make a choice to be willing or be week?

The bottom line is that making a choice to obey God is indeed works and by doing so will make one righteous without the help of God. This totally agrees with what Jesus said in John 3:21 "But he who practices the truth comes into the light, that his DEEDS may be manifested as having been wrought in God."

The Bible calls believers to judge behavior and words. That's not the same as judging people in the way that Christ said we're not to judge. We have to judge whether something is right or wrong all the time, but we can't judge their motives or their hearts.

Take a look at the following verses:

1 John 2:3-4

And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. [4] Whoever says "I know him" but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him,

Those who are HIS ... are not judged by "their" works but instead are judged by the works of HIM who saved us. His life is placed over ours. So in the eyes of the judgment ... we have perfectly keep ALL of the commandments.

No one has ever lived their entire life without sinning. Not even Elijah. And he was translated. But there are some who reached the point where they quit sinning. We don't know who they are, because if they had boasted about it, it would have been a sin. Since it was God who got them to that point, and not themselves. But we will know soon enough.

I agree completely. It doesn't mean we are without sin, because our sinful nature is always with us and will cause us to sin if aren't in close fellowhip with Christ and submitting our will to God's will.

But Christ's power from the heavenly sanctuary is given to us to keep us from falling.

Perhaps you misunderstand me. I am not saying that you and I are expected to live "sin free" right now. What God is looking for is loyalty to Him and to His law. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Of course we can't do it on our own, apart from the baptism and indwelling of the Holy Spirit. That's the lesson of Romans 7 and the lesson we gain from studying the history of ancient Israel. They were attempting go into the Promise Land by the power of the flesh, and therefore they were defeated.

When you say you want to know the name of one person who has lived sin-free, it is like the Israeltes demanding that spies go into the Promise Land before the Israelites would obey God. They had to have proof that they could go in where God had told them to go. They didn't accept God's word; they had to have demonstrable proof first that God wasn't lying. I think that's what we do when we refuse to believe and obey God's promises and His word.
