Twilight Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 The Christ's nature discussion seems quite positive and popular to me, so I am not sure what point you take issue with here? Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Twilight Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Maybe we should have a list of approved topics and titles that we are allowed to post? Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Stan Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 I just read the shout box... interesting comments about the same kind of thing. not sure what a ggod guy is... Twilight Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I saw a mention of the abortion topic there only Stan. I for one did not know that our church hospitals practiced abortions, so appreciated that being pointed out to me in the last week. That quite frankly sickens me and causes me deep concern. These things need to be discussed if this is a board for Adventists to discuss Adventist issues.. If this board became a stomping ground for the liberal agenda only, then it would lose its value quickly. And I am sensing a push for a liberal agenda on this board just lately, maybe that has always been there, but I am only just noticing it. And I am not a liberal OR conservative by the way... ...I don't eat shrimps and I do eat eggs (organic free range of course), which should be proof enough. Stan Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 It would be interesting to know which hospitals do, and how many are done in a year. I think I will ask that question on the other thread. Twilight Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 The minute this board starts to censor opinions and concerns, it loses validity and purpose as a board for Adventists to use. Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Twilight Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I would also like the answer to that question. Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Stan Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 I would also like the answer to that question. I asked on that thread. Hope they come up with solid and current facts. Stan Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 The minute this board starts to censor opinions and concerns, it loses validity and purpose as a board for Adventists to use. When too many Adventist walk away because one or more people hijack this to have their agenda, then it becomes useless as well. An example of that, and there are others, was some turning every thread into a "Jesuits this that and the other thing" No one minded if there was one or two threads on that, but everyone? no. Twilight Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 But the moderators keep control of that Stan, in my view and experience. And yes, you are right, a personal agenda should not be placed on every thread. But everyone has an agenda, you, me, the moderator's, everyone. I think the way John317 handles that situation is a good model for the board. He insists that the threads for those discussions be used and moderates that heavily, not allowing the overspill, but pointing to the proper location. Everyone has something they would like to share. Surely that should be encouraged, as long as it does not break the rules. Internet forums will always have controversy however, every single one of them. I used to hope differently, but that cannot be the case. Without it, a forum will die. I sense yours and Tom's frustration (amongst others) is that you want this forum to be an outreach for non-SDA's. But that because of the controversy that often surrounds this type of forum, that is being inhibited. But that is always going to be the case. Even if you ban those you might think are not "co-operating", you will only get another 10 to replace the one who has left. I have also noticed, that most of the controversy comes around "attacks" on fundamental beliefs. There is a war in the church about these fundamental's. The liberals and conservatives are fighting for control. But there is a third Spirit filled group that stand in the middle and want neither to have control, sometimes they get confused as one or the other by both sides. But that war in the church, will hit these boards as well. Interaction always brings difficulties. When a forum allows one side to plant its flag in the middle, it loses its value in my mind. You have provided a battlefield, when you expected a picnic spot possibly? Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Twilight Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I must have missed the Jesuit threads though, can you point me to them. I like "black helicopter" discussions... Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Twilight Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Except two be agreed, how can they walk together... Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Twilight Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 The other valuable thing, is that when someone does bring their agenda, it can be challenged openly. That is a very good thing. Often, an agenda makes ground because it is not challenged. And the challenge itself can open up many peoples' eyes to things they have not seen before. An example is the recent Covenant thread. Whilst I was comfortable with my understanding, it deepened as I engaged in that. Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...

I like "black helicopter" discussions... try googling clubadventist+Jesuit... have been exposed a couple of times as being a jesuit, now I have fun with that. :) Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
Twilight Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 The other thing is this. We are in the Great Controversy. Every self respecting Adventist knows that. I doubt this board will ever be immune to that. Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
doug yowell Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I must have missed the Jesuit threads though, can you point me to them. I like "black helicopter" discussions... Black helicopters are how Jesuits travel. I thought you already knew that. Quote
Twilight Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I did Doug. I was going to ask if Stan had a black helicopter, but thought it might be a bit insensitive... Of course if someone has a picture of Stan in said black helicopter, I will have to accept he is such... Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
