Confusion? Adventists couldn't be--could they? Stan, perhaps you should ban everything that is confusing, after all are not Adventists actually Christian Zombies?

Stan-

You forgot a 4th reason to kill a forums activities...where "forum" is known as the BBS....

4] allowing more radicals on the BBS than those who hold moderate views.

reason: It publically distorts the churches stance on certain subjects, it chases away those who uphold those middle of the road views, and it allows the congregating of those who have agendas, aka radicals of Adventism....

Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.

It might be that the lower echelon Jesuits get a black pushbike or something?

Or maybe even a black skateboard.

Anyone got pictures of Stan on a black skateboard?

That would seem pretty conclusive...

That could be written another way:

4) Banning anyone considered radical by moderates.

But that would get difficult quick.

Someone stating they are a vegetarian could bring out the "liberal" stoning party...

Maybe there should be a quota.

20 Liberals.

2 Middle roaders.

1 Conservative.

That way, the liberal/moderate agenda would stand unimpeded, no?

Have you ever noticed that "liberals" are never "liberal" with "conservatives"?

How all views are to be accepted and appreciated, except for those that oppose liberalism?

:-)

Everyone gets the freedom to express themselves as long as they do not oppose liberalism?

Interesting how "liberalism" is not all that "liberal".

Conservatives and liberals both suffer from the same problem.

They cannot tolerate someone disagreeing with them... :-)

In spirit filled groups?

I would say it seeks to smother them, rather than infiltrate.

And that is why this board should never submit to either agenda, whatever guise it comes in.

(Including - "We want all the visitors to come here and not face those nasty horrible conservatives").

But seek to maintain Gospel Principles over politics and resist efforts to "oust" certain views and viewpoints.

several points come to mind as I ponder this....

1] after reading my post, which you quoted, you don't get the innuendo that I have put into the post.

2] If you want to turn this thread into a "liberal vs conservative thread" that is your prerogative..While I don't mind the conservative viewpoint, I find that many of them can not understand my [or any other's] liberal viewpoint. It is a mystery to them...

3] The subject of conservative vs liberal postings has been deal with many time on this board....and it has been dealt with again when you brought it up...and you still are harping on it as if it were some unfair system. It has been hashed out several times in the moderators forum...When are you just gonna quit....?

4] Many of us users have found that there are some here, who have an agenda...you can tell when they can not get all thier thoughts on one post, but ramble on and on...or [as one moderator has done when he has been shown to be wrong from time to time] buries his wrong post by spaming all sorts of comments in separate posts...whether they are looking to have a large number of posts here and take the top spot away from others or have a disease known by some as "diarrhea" of the fingers is not in my perview to figure out....

Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.

The other danger is placing "visitor's" (non Christians seem to get this appelation automatically) on a pedestal and acting as if they have the right to attack every tenet of Christianity, whilst they are not allowed to be "challenged" in case it hurts their feelings.

This liberal approach to soul winning usually arises from the vain hope that allowing someone to attack Christianity "unmolested" will eventually convert them some day...

How can you be so sure?

How do you know they do not understand you?

Disagreeing with you, is not "not understanding" you.

I have seen "liberal" justice.

I have seen "conservative" justice.

Neither are very pretty.

They had liberals and conservatives in Christ's day as well you know.

They were called Pharisees and Sadducees.

They both had their agenda's then as well, mainly to silence the other side.

Jesus attempted to convert them both...

One thing they united on however, was in crucifying Christ...

Just to be clear of my own Agenda.

I believe the church needs the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and it is still in the "pre-crucifixion" stage of its life.

We need Jesus folks, and we need Him desperately.

Not conservatism.

Not liberalism.

Just Jesus.

I do disagree with your view here. I find it to be the other way.

I agree with Neil's points in his post.

Which perhaps is why they are conservative? :)

Was Jesus not both liberal and conservative? Why then is it so difficult to at least try and understand where the other one is coming from, especially with our Christian brethren?

Here's a question:

Why is it called "challenging" when I do it, and "attacking" when someone that doesn't agree with me does it?

Gail what I'm getting from Neil's statement is that he as a liberal understands the conservative view point, but that the conservative's do not understand liberal's viewpoints, or don't really want to. Where as he does.

I'm wondering if there is a portion of white/black way of thinking as compared to a more greyer one.

I think you have twisted this a little bit Gail.

Why?

To challenge someone, is to question their point of view.

To attack someone, is to question them as an individual.

Problem is, when we become so liberal we cannot tell the difference, we assume all challenging is wrong.

When someone says:

I disagree with you because of this and this from scripture and out of a desire to restore.

They are not attacking the individual.

Do you know that one of the most essential parts of character building is having sins identified and then removed by God?

God cannot even begin to work on one person who has not confessed their sin.

It seems these days, that people think that the gospel has changed and that to challenge sin and error is something bad.

I am sorry, but that is not biblical.

If someone wants to point my sin out to me, especially that which I am blind to, then I rejoice, because then I can have it removed by God, when I have confessed it.

You would think that that practice is unbiblical these days, the way some want to protect the sinner from seeing their sins...

I wonder how John the Baptist would have coped with the "liberal" element, that thinks sin or error should go unchallenged?

I do hope however that this is not your position Gail?

I think it is more black/black thinking it is white/white when the real white stands alone in the corner feeling rather left out...

Maybe I'm like the oldie who is always remembering the good ol' days, but I remember back when... pause to remove teeth from cup ... it was considered bad form on a BBS to post a string of comments without intervening posts from other participants. People would apologize for doing it, and the more sensitive would actually be embarrassed if they breached that bit of etiquette. Ah yes, I love that part about the good ol' days.

Thesis: Seeing every issue through the liberal vs conservative lens is a maladaptive intellectual strategy since it forces into blindness complexity essential to understanding the issues.

Sorry, Bravus...but you may have to scale back the liberal verbage to the point of conservative simplicity...
