The 1260 Year Interpretation of Protestantism

John317, is the official SDA position that by "word association only" that Galatians 4:4 and Mark 1:15 are referring directly to Daniel chapter nine?

More tautological noise that blabs before speaking. This is not an "official SDA" position. This is an established "Christian" position. Even those other evangelical denominations that adhere to a dispensational understanding of Daniel 9:24-27 believe the "times" mentioned in these verses are referring directly to Daniel 9. But many historicist denominations such as Methodist and Lutheran also adhere to the SDA position of Daniel 9.

One of these days, you might learn the hard way miz3 that what you wish to associate as "SDA" is really nothing more than orthodox established original Protestant thought.

...Please also consider Galatians 4: 4:

But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son...

to plhroma tou kronou

Notice that these are the same words that are used in Mark 1: 15.

Gal. 4: 4 points to a specific point in time that God planned for Jesus to come.

Jesus not only came right on time, but He also was anointed right on time and died at the very hour that the Bible predicted He would die. Jesus knew this long beforehand because Bible prophecy predicted it hundreds of years before it happened.

Why in the world would you consider it incredible that God would tell His people ahead of time when the Messiah (who is referred to in Genesis 3: 15) was to come?

There is a very good reason that God did this. Not only did God reveal WHEN the Messiah would come, but He told where He would be born, what tribe and family He would come out of, and many of the detailed events of His life.

Why did God do this?

Yes, Mark 1: 15 and Galatians 4:4 are referring to the fulfillment of prophetic time predicted in Daniel 9: 24-27.

But why don't you answer the questions I've asked? Why did God predict in prophecy exactly when the Messiah would come?

There's a very good reason why God did it.

You have to do more than merely say it ain't so. You need to be able to show EVIDENCE and argument in the Scriptures. So far you have not done it.

Have you read the Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary on Mark 1: 15; Galatians 4: 4; and Daniel 9: 24-27?

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

So this "word association" is the Official SDA position. That reveals a lot.

I am sorry but that is not good Bible study. I don't care how many "big brains" say it is so, it does not make it so.

"At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. 26 Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.

27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Matthew 11:25-30.

Notice God hides from the "wise and learned". How does that shoe fit you?

The truth is given to the "little children", not those who use "Word association, linguistic and grammatical twists, historical mumbo jumbo, psychological musings, sociological and cultural idiosyncrasies, etc."

God does this because it is "His pleasure".

Why do you burden yourself with the heavy yoke of pagan scholarship?

Come to God as a little child and learn the Truth.

These are not my words, I only quoted the Scripture. It is God that is speaking to you.

What sort of a mind fabricates that anything in heaven could be unclean...

...And in need of "cleansing"?

Why would Jesus attend "The Feast of the Dedication" if the Sanctuary was NOT...

...Understood to have been cleansed PRIOR to His attending it?

John 10,21

And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, AND it was winter. And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch

What sort of a mind fabricates that anything in heaven could be unclean and in need of "cleansing"?

The mind of God.

"It was, therefore, necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us." Heb.9:23,24.

Sins confessed are sent beforehand to judgment. They are registered in the books of the sanctuary in Heaven. They are forgiven but they are not removed. They won't be removed until Christ makes the final atonement for these sins and then the sanctuary above will be cleansed.

It is in that sense that the heavenly things themselves need cleansing. A time is coming when all the sins of the righteous dead and of the righteous living will be removed from the sanctuary above to be placed on Satan the scapegoat.

Wish more people would ask this, and study to find the Bible answer.

You want to know the sort of mind which says something in heaven could be unclean and in need of cleansing.

Skyblue gave the correct answer:

"The mind of God."

Hebrews 9:23

Thus it was necessary for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these rites, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

Notice the word "purified." It is the same word as "cleansed." There are indeed heavenly things that need to be cleansed.

Did you realize that the sins of God's people affect the sanctuary of God? Our sins do damage to God's reputation.

Can you think of any Bible evidence that support this?

The sins of God's people were transferred to the sanctuary, weren't they?

Why did the earthly sanctuary need to be cleansed on the antitypical Day of Atonement?

John 3:16-17

Gustave, what was the earthly temple? Wasn't it a copy of the true tabernacle that's in heaven?

Hebrews 9:24

For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.

John the Beloved saw the real sanctuary:

Rev. 11:19

Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple.

So, then, what is more important-- the copy or the original?

Sure, the copy had been rededicated, but the fact that the Jews celebrated the rededication isn't valid evidence that Daniel 8: 14 has reference to the earthly temple.

For one thing, the earthly temple wasn't rededicated 2,300 days or even 1,150 days after it was defiled.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
