Dr. Shane Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 You can't conclude any active belief by a non belief. You probably need to speak for yourself here. Just because you can't, doesn't mean others can't. I certainly can and do. If someone doesn't believe in a deity to guide their lives, they must then make a god out of human reason. I have been called an atheist on these very boards for not following Christanity. Yet I believe in deity. I don't however believe that they guide my life. So really can you based on that decide what my active beliefs are? Beyond saying that I believe in deity. Quote
Dr. Shane Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I believe in deity. I don't however believe that they guide my life. Join the crowd. I think many professed Christians, if they were honest, would have to make the same admission. Many that profess to be religious actually worship at the alter of self which really isn't any different than atheists and agnostics. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... You only can tell what I believe based on what I have told you. What I believe actually goes much deeper than that. So really you can not assume to know what anyone believes based on what they don't believe. Quote

You don't know that. There are many other value systems out there besides reason. Some people decide what they are going to do by what feels good. Some people decide based on a mentor or what someone else to tells them to do. How can you differentiate between those Shane? You are claiming to have god like powers of mind reading here. Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted December 3, 2011 Administrators Posted December 3, 2011 But for true adherents the essences of religious disagreement is that all religion but the one subscribed to are false. The "logic" is that the fact of disagreement proves the other POV to be false. And with all religions seeing it that way proves all religions to be false. You just can win for losing! Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

Well there are a few religions that actually think there can easily be more than one way to look at things, but for the most part you are correct sir. Creates a whole lot of foolishness really. Quote

olger Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 By definition there really is no FALSE religion. Just ones that don't agree with each other. "How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods? Selah" (Psalm 4:2). Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

I would be surprised if any major religious texts didn't have references to the false gods of other religions. Quote I believe in life before death

olger Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 The Remnant, codefied in Isaiah, foreseen in Revelation, called out by God, is the universal centerpiece of Biblical restitutionism. yay Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
M. T. Cross Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 The Remnant, codefied in Isaiah, foreseen in Revelation, called out by God, is the universal centerpiece of Biblical restitutionism. yay There ya go. There is the SDA version. Or possibly your version of the SDA version. Ya'll tend to disagree a lot. Quote
olger Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Not SDA, Biblical. Restitutionism is the lifeblood of reformation (and the Reformation). :) Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
M. T. Cross Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 OK Biblical. Point still stands. Put 10 Bible believing students of theology in a room I bet you would come up with no less than 5 different views on that. Like I said - ya'll seem to disagree a lot. Quote
