Q.E.D. ~~ You should not be confused. People keep asking for your proof because the verses you supplied in Acts 8 DO NOT support your claims. Let's take a look at Acts 8. "12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the *miracles and signs which were done. 14 ¶ Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost : 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. 18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,"(Acts 8:12-18) Where in the above verses does it state that they "spoke in tongues"? The verse gives NO SPECIFIC INDICATION what Simon saw or what exactly happened. There is not a single mention of "tongues" anywhere in Chapter 8. A willow bending in the wind. . . Q.E.D. OK, I guess you don't bother to read my posts. Acts 8 does not mention tongues. It DOES indicate that we should understand the statement that baptised believers did not have the Spirit and were therefore unsaved. I use the Bible to explain this, Acts 2, 10 and 19 all indicate that tongues is the evidence. SDA doctrine as I understand it cannot explain how baptised believers were unsaved at all. Quote

God promises in Acts 2:38 that all baptized believers receive the Holy Spirit. "To whom shall I speak. . ." Q.E.D. So you're saying that Acts 8 is lying ? Paul asked a stupid and impossible question in Acts 19 ? Acts 2:38 says that all baptised believers can expect to receive the Spirit, but the Spirit they are promised to recieve is associated with 'what you see and hear', i.e. people speaking in tongues. This is the issue. Acts 8 reports a situation that you claim is impossible. Quote
ClubV12 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Wow, this is more serious than I thought. Apparently BibleOnly's position is that if you don't speak in tongues, you don't have the Holy Spirit, then it follows that you are lost. Whoa, thats a serious game changer, it requires EVERY Christian to speak in tongues in order to be saved!!! Now THAT is clearly NOT in the bible in any way. Quote
BibleOnly Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 Club12, the Bible does not require every Christian to speak in tongues. It says that the promise of God to every Christian includes the gift of speaking in tongues. The difference may seem semantic, but I'm not trying to say WE need to do anything to be saved, nor do I want to tell anyone they are NOT saved. I want to tell people they CAN be. Quote
Dr. Rich Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Yes, after the restoration of Israel, the whole earth is allowed to come in, which brings God's plan to an all inclusive conclusion. Matt. 21:43 and Dan. 9:24 show that you are mistaken BO. Only the Adventists fit ALL of the charistics found in Matt. 25:1-13 and they are now sleeping spiritually. They are all happy tucked in bed mistakenly believing that they are all saved by grace--as the majority of other Christians. Rev. 5:9-10 prove that the first two groups of the three found in Rev. 17:14 are the "Kingdom" and "Priests". The Priests are the 144k, as they are the 'few' found in Rev. 3:4 and all of Rev. 3:7-13. It is the 144k who wake up the sleeping bride's maids and half of them believe what the 144k tell them and are called the wise and this is what then is called the "Kingdom" in Rev. 5:10. The "Bride" is the group who become righteous because of the ACTS of the Saints (5 wise) as found in Rev. 7:9-19 and 19:7-8. This Righteous Acts (works) are done during the first 37 "new moons" (months) of the time of trouble and after they become sealed by God, then NO ONE ELSE WILL EVER BECOME SAVED because the 2nd Beast of Rev. 13 (Satan) is released from the Abyss and this is when the Mark of this Beast is given to the wicked who are victims of all of the 7 plagues. The "Two Witnesses" are the leaders for the 144k who testify to the words of Jesus ONLY but are hated by all of those who falsly and mistakenly believe that the 2 Witnesses are the old and new testiment of the bible. Dr. Rich Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 So, only Adventists can be saved ? I guess you didn't read the verses in the Bible that I gave you to read. As a whole group (corporate group as found in Matt. 21:43), Adventists are the ONLY group that qualify as the Ten Virgins in Matt. 25:1-13. If you do not agree, that ok with me, but then please attempt to find another group that fits this as will as Adventists. The Mass Multitude come from all over the world and from every nation, race tribe and religion. These are called the "Bride". Quote
BibleOnly Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 " If you do not agree, that ok with me, but then please attempt to find another group that fits this as will as Adventists." Any group that has the Spirit, and not just the Word, I would have thought :-) "The Mass Multitude come from all over the world and from every nation, race tribe and religion. These are called the "Bride"." So, everyone is the bride, but not for reasons that have anything to do with Israel, God will just break that promise ? Quote

BibleOnly Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 No, you've got it backwards. Everyone who is saved, speaks in tongues. Some people who speak in tongues, are lawless, and may well not be saved. Anyone who does not yet speak in tongues is like Cornelius, they may be sincere, but they are not there yet, and that's why God sends people to preach the full Gospel to them. Instead of breaking it down to a statement that will probably upset you, break it down by what the Bible says. God requires you to pray in the Spirit. The only definition of this in the Bible is tongues. How do YOU pray in the Spirit ? Quote

Matthew 24:45-47 show that the ONE Good and Faithful Servant who the Master has put in charge OF HIS HOUSEHOLD....will also be put in charge of ALL of the Master's Possessions (everthing). This ONE person will be the "Elijah" type as found in Matt. 17:11. So, This ONE person is NOT everyone--it couldn't be! Now read what Jesus tells those who OVERCOME as found in Rev. 3:12! This same thing does NOT apply to the Bride--the group found in Rev. 7:9-19. Now go read where the seperate groups live in heaven! The 144k and 5 wise live IN the City while the Bride lives outside the city. The fruit of the tree of life is FOR those in the City but only the leaves of this tree are for the Bride. Hey, check it out! Trouble is, IF you choose to believe and practice a lie from words of anyone else other than from Jesus Himself, as Jesus warned us in Rev. 21:8,27 and 22:15, then you will be thrown in the lake of fire. When Jesus was baptised, the spirit came and the voice of God was heard, but this was a symbol, no-one could have the Spirit in the way that the apostles did in Acts 2, until Jesus died and rose again. In any case, why would Jesus need to speak in tongues, are you saying He did not know what to pray for ? I note you've come up with another word game and no actual explanation for the scriptures that prove what I've said. Quote

The fact that you reject Paul's writings means that you think God is so weak that He could not control what the Bible would say, and that the Devil is so strong that he could appear to Paul in a vision. You should perhaps start a Satanic church ? Jhn 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. The word 'wind' is the word for Spirit, the word 'sound' is the word for an articulate voice. Like Acts 8, this is a scripture that lots of people reject, and yet they have no other explanation for it. Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mar 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; Two scriptures. Dr. Rich Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 BO, are you suggesting that Jesus' ministry failed? Jesus said He was born of this world to testify to the truth, and that everyone OF the truth will hear it or read it and understand. By saying that you and everyone actually need anything else other than what Jesus said and given to us by ONLY His eyewitnesses (no, Paul and Luke were not eyewitnesses) to understand how salvation works, is saying that Jesus failed. Are you sure you want to be saying this? Try this: Research on who it was and why the bible as we have it today was established. A very evil man who, for politics, wanted to put Pagan, Jews and Christians together and used the words from those necessary to do this. The popular mistaken understanding that the bible as we have it today IS/ARE the words of God is extreemly dangerious IF anything found in it was not God's words. Calling the Holy Spirit a liar isn't very healthy for one's soul. And this too: Give me ONE good reason why anyone needs anything more than the words of Jesus to understand how salvation works? The real reason why the 10 Virgins are right now spiritually sleeping is that they have been lulled into believing words from others who mistakenly think someone can be saved by grace. After all, if you do not agree with this, then please show me why grace does not save anyone in the 10 Virgin prophecy? Quote
