I can say this, in support of Redwood, there was in times past, posts deleted, now we have asked all the moderators to please move them to the moderators section rather than delete.

Some of these actions have been reversed in the past because of this.

I don't care much for the hard-line ultra-conservative thinking, and generally skip over those posts, but the evolutionists, now, they're making me think, and dig, to try to understand the theory.

I gotta wonder why it always comes down to political standing....

Why can't people with differing views simply discuss and debate and respect the differences?

I think that those whose views can't withstand scriptural scrutiny make the loudest noise because they can't give evidence for their theories.

I first subscribed when the rate was $2.50/month or $30/year. If I recall, the lifetime membership was not a lump sum but a simple guarantee that if a person joined at that time, the above rates would never increase. After getting two NSF charges from my bank for the monthly debits that I had forgotten about, I switched to the yearly dues and pay whatever is being charged. I have also given a lump sum on a couple of occasions when I was asked for some specific projects.

I really feel like this site is my second church family and am more than willing to support it. There are some forums on this site that I avoid but I actually prefer the administration not trying to censor everything. There are lines here and when they are crossed things do get deleted (or moved to moderator storage). So it is not an anything-goes forum. However I see that for the most part the moderators and administrators here agree that the truth need not fear investigation.

As for the actual topic of the thread, Stan and I have had private conversations that about it that I would rather keep private.

Yes. I have noticed the same - that some just can't tolerate a different interpretation of their pet beliefs. Sad.

They forget that Christ LOVES ALL - even if they don't believe as HE does.

Several things: agreeing or disagreeing, if you use the bandwidth, pay for it. It ain not nice to skate on somebody else's dime - and a dime nowadays sure won't even buy a nickel.

Lest I be reminded that I am in arrears, check's in the mail, Cap'n :(

>>I gotta wonder why it always comes down to political standing....<<

'Cause, left and con is easier on the senses than goofball and crankcase. Speaking of crankcase, there are 4,498 members of this forum. With, apparently, 4,497 on one side of a demarc and I on the other side. What?--am I the only ubercrank here?

"Wow, I feel like... who's that guy, Tonto?"

"Kemo Sabe, Ubercrank."

I think that I offend probably more than anybody else and have had my share of posts deleted; yet, I don't have a gripe. The forum is relatively fair [and vigorous]. In fact, I can't recall when we did not have Sunrise, Sunset, Sunrise, Sunset - one day following another... here'bouts.

I guess I am standing squarely in the middle, because I am seeing a bunch of leftists, middle-ists, and rightists. Those on the extremes tend to state their opinions strongly, but I guess that goes with their positions. We have those on both sides who are mad because not everyone agrees with them, while we in the middle just shake our heads wondering when everyone else will come to their senses, but stick around because the discussions can be amusing and thought provoking.

Those on the one side who disagree with the other and end up walking off in a huff because of it, remind me of a recent visit I made to a lady in a nursing home. We asked how her relationship was with God, and what she prayed about. She said she prays for her children. "What do you pray?" "I ask for my children to think like me," she said.

So tell me, what's wrong with that prayer?

Thanks, I am going to use that in the future.

Then make it a payed membership forum.

When you offer an independent ministry that offers to discuss Adventism with the world and invites all comers, you cannot expect to get paid.

If it is a private club, then expect payment.

It it is a public ministry, then do not expect it.

I used to support this forum, but stopped when I could see the lack of transparency with moderator issues and control of the forum.

The recent heavy leaning to liberalism also precludes my investment, I would rather the money go to my local Church or ADRA.

So what I am saying is this:

You have created your own monster here Stan, by taking a very liberal position and encouraging that...

Do not expect people to "feed the monster".

Stan,

Wondering if the advertising here shouldn't pay a good amount. I don't know what it pays but it must help a lot or you wouldn't have it.

I'm an oldster on SS and mine is minimal to what some get and so things get close for us and I think for a lot of people anymore as wages don't keep up with rising costs. Just keeping up an internet connection straps me a lot and I don't have a real fast one and don't need it fast for what I do.

I know on the blog I have I could allow advertising but I don't want it as some of it is objectional and I suppose you have the same problem with opening it up to all that could lace on here.

There is a Christian line on this worlds stuff with all I'm sure even among the most liberal.

Anyway frugality is coming in to most Americans now hard and fast and the times are looking bleaker everyday. We should be allowed to print our percentage as the government does!

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

The ads have helped, google suggested I add one to the header and I did.

Many days it as been 1-2$ one day it hit $34! That caught me by surprise.

The ministry ads on the side, do not bring in much, some are there free.

There are about 200 sites blocked from coming here, and if offensive ones come though I do like to know where they land so I can put that URL in.

Makes sense really. If her children thought like her, she wouldn't be in that nursing home.

What she really wants is for her children all to become Jehovah's Witnesses. Her mindset is along the same lines as what looks to be the same as some here. We may be praying for everyone else to understand things the same way we do, when our prayer should be that each of us will open our mind to the Holy Spirit's wisdom and guidance.

LD

P.S. The lady is in the nursing home with hospice care because of a broken hip, serious emphysema, and a short time left to live, according to the doctors. I don't fault her children for wanting her to have skilled nursing available for her condition.

We may be praying for everyone else to understand things the same way we do,

The truth isn't subjective, its objective.

Wanting others to understand an objective truh is not wrong.

But we are in a culture that insists that truth is "subjective".

This is not a biblical concept, but many keep making this argument without realising it is not from God.

So when a biblical truth is truth, then subjectivity has nothing to do with it being truth.

The prayer should be:

"Is my understanding biblical".

Not:

"Live and let live."

There seems to be a lot of dogmatic jabber going around. It sounds like this.

MY Truth is objective.

YOUR Truth is subjective.

I don't believe that to be Biblical. The ONLY Truth that is necessary for Salvation is that if you believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ - you will be saved. All other "truths" are subjective in that understanding them will not happen till we SEE HIS FACE. And even then we are told that we will need to study for ALL OF ETERNITY to try to come to grasp with the greatness of God.

May we be one so that the world may be won.

Really?

So there is only "one" objective truth in the whole bible?

Nothing else at all?

Don't need to be baptised for instance?

Don't need the indwelling of the Holy Spirit?
