I think it best to keep on topic. I feel it's a simple and straight forward question. If one finds it difficult to answer - that speaks volumes.

Hmm, Woody, The Love of God is to do His Commandments and they are not grievious.

You gave us a loaded question so no answer could be made but any view we might hold who truly love God to keep His commandments be legalists?

No I am not a legalist to believe in keeping His commandments. They are in my heart and my hearts disire to do them. I died of the old man and then was born a new creature in Him and He in me.

Now my will is to do His will and my love is to do His Love, revealed in His law of Love.

And He said,

Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

True Love keeps em and then there is no condemnation. And if one did "slip",

1Jo 2:1 ¶ My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

1Jo 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

1Jo 2:3 ¶ And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

1Jo 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

There you go again, assuming stuff you have no proof for. And what is so hard about keeping all of them anyway? Huh? It's actually very easy to do.

Woody,

The consolation is that when we do, we do have an advocate that the slate be clean again.

1Jo 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

When we commit a sin, and we know it when we do, we have fell back from being born of Him and MUST get back as quickly as possible, the throne of grace, a more dedicated repentance and born again of HIM.

Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

It all boils down to how deep is my Love for Him?

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Actually, I don't see a significant difference between the two concepts. Legalisim and the love of God. In either case, it's about the definition and understanding.

It was love when Noah got in the boat and the angel sealed the door. It was love when Sodom was destroyed. Love based on the law, that hasn't changed.

I wonder if the scribes and pharisees of Jesus's day would be considered liberal or conservative?

I think it would be conservative and those were the ones who caused all the problems. LOL

Times haven't changed much.

Which side was Jesus on? Hmmmm, well, He kept all of the commandments and He is the persona of LOVE! So, are not we to be like Jesus? Are not we to do what He says to do IF we love Him?

cheddar,

What we have today is all together a different issue than then. Who is the proud beater on his chest today? It has to be the ones who don't realize of themselves they they are nothing.

We who realize we must have an indwelling power that we can not of ourselves produce come and repent fall on the Rock and are broken of our stuborn wills and die of that old man that we be born again from above. From then on it is continually realized He is our strength and stay and the victory over the devil and the world and all it's pitfalls.

There is no other way but what He has laid that we can and must be overcomers and He makes it very clear.

The pharisee may be well the one who refuses to fall on Him and be broken of the stubborn spirit of self and it's gratifications. We fall on Him and be broken then we become maleable in His hands that we can be fitted for His indwelling.

Here is your victory, your ticket, Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Re 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Woody that wouldn't be a very good proof of what is required of salvation as we know more conversation went on than is chronicled. One thing we can be sure of Jesus knew his heart set as to his safety to be taken into His Kingdom. It doesn't take long for one to surrender all especially when faced with eternal death or life as He was. In those type moments the mind flies to what it does when not faced with the bitter end.

Jesus must assure sin will not rise up again in His Kingdom and none will be made androids, or machines without a free will and mind.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

I will give you this - if I went to Heaven - sin would rise again. But I will be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye. Before I go to Heaven - HE will change me. And I am looking forward to that day. Lord come quickly. I long to be changed.

There's an easy way to tell if your a legalist or not?

Just scream out some curse words when you get mad or go to the mall on the sabbath and eat a bunch of unhealthy food at the food court or God forbid drive 75mph down the highway when the sign clearly says 55!

If you can do all these things and not feel guilty - your doing good.

Our sabbath keeping reveals alot on where we stand on this vital issue.

Woody,

I think you and I see that change as different things. It is when this mortal is made immortal. But we are to be found worthy here in this "probationary" time now. We will not be made worthy then I am sure. If you like EGw's council she said much on that.

That will be at the first resurrection and from then on we will not be "corruptibles". We are very likely to be corrupted in this life but He must make sure He doesn't make any into eternal corruption.

Woody, only the overcomers take part in the first resurrection. Ya can do it, I know you can, anyone can if I can, I know I'm the chief of them sinners, Paul must move over.

Gibs - I am corrupt. Praise God though - at the second coming - he will change me from being corrupt to being worthy of Heaven. For on this earth - I will never be worthy of Heaven. I have to accept the Robe of Jesus to COVER my sinful life and place the life of Jesus to my account.

And there is plenty of Ellen White to prove this - if you accept her.
