Yet, all those nations who fall under her power, and under her spell, become a "part" of Babylon.” Lets’s not forget that Ellen White also warned Adventists that our church was then in danger of becoming “a sister to Babylon.” And bear in mind that this statement was made almost a century before Adventists compromised on the moral issue of abortion. I am wondering what she would say today knowing that thousands of innocent unborn babies have been killed in our own hospitals since 1970. Quote
Lysimachus Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 Lysimachus wrote: “I got a newsletter from David Mould, and this link was in it: http://www.lrltv.org/controversy-hijacked.html This is very disturbing.” Yes, it is very disturbing and on more counts than one! It was wrong for the General Conference to advertize this new book as the “Great Controversy” when in fact crucial chapters had been deleted from the book. Those donors who innocently gave money for the project are entitled to a full refund. The church has the right to drop some chapters from the book if said material is no longer relevant, but the truth in advertizing is a sacred cow which no one has the right to sacrifice. Donors are entitled to a full disclosure of the facts. At the same time, I believe that David Mould should show some respect for the Adventist Church and is leaders, regardless of the fact that they are prone to make mistakes. He should be humble enough and recognize that he is not perfect either. I remember that following my purchase of the “Great Controversy” he published many years ago, I received a strange letter from one of the members of his staff notifying me that his entire staff had resigned in protest for his adulterous behavior. I have no way of verifying the accuracy of said report, and do acknowledge of the fact that, like King David, he might have repented of his sin; but knowing his personal weakness, he should be merciful towards others. “Ellen White would have fallen off her chair if she saw this.” I am not so sure about Ellen White reaction in the event she were to come back to life. My reason is very simple. Ellen would recognize that the Catholic Church, in spite of all its doctrinal failings, should be commended for its solid position regarding the right to life of the unborn; while we Adventists have compromised with the Devil over this moral issue. We have watered down the Sixth Commandment beyond recognition with our “Guidelines on Abortion” document which opened the door for elective abortions, and we have looked the other way while several of our own hospitals have been offering abortions on demand since 1970—three years prior to the legalization of abortion in the U.S. mainland. I know this to be a fact, since I wrote my doctoral dissertation about this issue. If this topic is of interest to you, go to http://lulu.com and type my name—Nic Samojluk--on the search blank space. I believe that Ellen White would give credit where credit is due. This is what I learn from the way God treated the seven churches in the book of Revelation. He pointed their faults, and did no overlook their good deeds either. Thanks for your comments Nic, you raise some very thought-provoking points indeed. Yes, I am aware of the issues concerning the adulterous reports of David Mould. These reports may very well be true, and there seems to be a lot of people protesting it, including Pat Arrabito. If I remember what she said correctly, she claimed David stole the rights to The (Illustrated) Great Controversy book. Don't quote me on this, however. It does seem odd why she does not have the publishing rights. It was her husband's book. Quote ~Lysimachus (Marcos S.) Such symbols did match the actions of pagan and religious Rome. The question we need to ask is: Do those beastly symbols apply today to the Catholic Church? Is Rome persecuting the saints today? Ellen White predicted that Rome will again regain its temporal power and that it will persecute those considered to be heretics by Rome; but this is missing the real question. The real question has to do with the present instead of the past or future behavior of the Catholic organization. If you think that there is evidence that Rome is persecuting and killing the saints today, will you please share such evidence with me? If Rome is not guilty of such behavior today, then the beast image does not belong to it. The next question is: Who has recently behaved in a beastly manner? How about Hitler, Stalin, Idi Amin, and Bin Laden? Can we add perhaps the Moslem and Communist countries which have made the life of Christians miserable lately? Christians are currently being persecuted and killed like never before, and this is not the work of Rome, but rather the work of Moslem extremists. Who else has been acting in a beastly fashion and targeting the innocent and killing them? How about the U.S. Our country has destroyed the lives of 55 million innocent unborn babies since 1973. For them this had been the Time of Trouble indeed and the Death Decree was issue when abortion was legalized. And here comes the big surprise: We, the “Remnant Church” of god, did lead in this despicable work. We did allow our hospitals to engage in the work of elective abortions three years prior to the legalization of abortion in the U.S. mainland. All this is documented in the pages of our own publications, and now in a book which I recently published. You can access it through http://lulu.com. All you need to do is to type my name, Nic Samojluk, in the blank search space. So, who is doing the work of the “Beast”? Moslem extremists are; Moslem countries which have adopted the Sharia law are; our country is, and we Adventist have been contributing to the work of this beast. We Adventists need to get out of the abortion business before God’s judgments begin to fall of the beastly powers of this world. And if we take the trouble to investigate, we will probably conclude that said judgments have been already falling on said beastly powers. Six decades ago, our country was the largest creditor in the world; today we are the greatest borrower in human history, and we rely on China—a Communist country-- to pay our debts, to feed our retirees, and to finance our wars. It's special because they profess to keep all of the ten commandments, while ignoring the words of Jesus saying to follow Him (ONLY HIM).” Does professing mean that we are indeed keeping them? How about the Sixth Commandment? Compare God’s statement with our “Guidelines on Abortion” and our recent behavior. The Commandment forbids murder, but we say here is the long list of exceptions to God’s rule. In this the behavior of Rome shines as a bright example of how to follow what God ordained. Rome altered the Fourth Commandment and we did the same to the Sixth. So, who is the Beast of Revelation? Ellen White warned our people that we were in danger of becoming a “sister to Babylon.” This she said many decades ago when our church was still pro-life. Now we are pro-choice/pro-abortion. skyblue888 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 The pacific tone of the Catholic Church today does not imply a change of heart. SHE IS TOLERANT WHERE SHE IS HELPLESS. There has been a change, yes, but the change is not in the papacy. Catholicism indeed resembles much of the Protantantism that now exists, because Protestantism has so greatly degenerated since the days of the Reformers. Instead of standing in defense of the faith once delivered to the saints, they are now, as it were, apologizing to the Catholic Church for their uncharitable opinion of her, begging pardon for their bigotry. The Catholic church will never relinquish her claim to infallibility. All that she has done in her persecution of those who reject her dogmas she holds to be right, and would she not repeat the same acts, should the opportunity be presented? LET THE RESTRAINTS NOW IMPOSED BY SECULAR GOVERNMENTS BE REMOVED AND THE CATHOLIC CHURCH BE REINSTATED IN HER FORMER POWER, AND THERE WOULD SPEEDILY BE A REVIVAL OF HER TYRANNY AND PERSECUTION. See The Great Controversy,564,565. "The incense that is offered now by men, the masses that are said for the deliverance of souls from the purgatory, are not of the least avail with God. All the altars and sacrifices, the traditions and inventions whereby men hope to earn salvation are fallacies. No sacrifices are to be offered without; for the great High Priest is performing His work in the holy place. No prince or monarch dare venture within the holy enclosure." E.G. White, 7 B.C.913. What is the work of our great High Priest? "The intercession of Christ in our behalf is that of presenting His divine merits in the offering of Himself to the Father as our Substitute and Surety; for He ascended up on High to make atonement for our transgressions." E.G. White, Faith & Works,105. Men need to discern with astonishment the utter worthlessness of creature merit to earn the wages of eternal life. Unless they make it their life business to look to Christ and accept His merits which it is their privilege to claim, they can no more be saved than Peter could walk upon the water unless he kept his eyes fixed steadily upon Jesus. What is man's part then? "Man's part is to lay hold by faith of the merits of Christ, and co-operate with the divine agencies in forming a righteous character; so that God may save the sinner, and yet be just and His righteous law vindicated." FCE,430. sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.
