Administrators Gail Posted September 30, 2012 Administrators Posted September 30, 2012 Thanks for sharing those, Robert! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted September 30, 2012 Administrators Posted September 30, 2012 Good question, Gail. Because of the manifestations He has allowed me to witness and participate in, I would say yes at this point in my life. But if there was no heaven to gain (or hell to fear, I'm assuming), I don't know if I would have ever become a Christian. Sad to say, I doubt that I would have - I was having too much fun sinning. Just being honest ... I find that whenever I ask myself that question it really makes me think! Although there may truly be a selfish motive that first springs a thought about eternal realities, when contemplating what the Bible reveals about our Creator and Sovereign Lord it really is humbling. There really is a nobility and dignity that comes with placing oneself on God's side, that righteousness and mercy are true and pure principles that define divinity. Isn't that mind-blowing? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted September 30, 2012 Administrators Posted September 30, 2012 Last night I read 1 Corinthians 4:20: For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. It just stopped me in my tracks. How do we go from mere words to the power of salvation? That would be a point inarguable. Members phkrause Posted September 30, 2012 Members Posted September 30, 2012 Wow! It's amazing that people can get so crazy and angry and condemning in just 24 hours. This topic has evolved (or devolved) into another "endless "saved by grace" or "saved by law " debate that no one will ever win. If this wasn't Robert's topic, I'd say But I won't say that, since it's not my topic. You know, only Christ knows what's in our hearts JoeMo. I believe many from each group will be saved. And as I've mentioned on occasion on other threads, we will be very surprised as to who is there and who is not. Well Paul wrote that and He also wrote this and I believe is our answer, Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: I have always loved that verse for that reason and then John echoes it here and I paste it on about all my posts as I love the thought and the fact. He not only is the only way but these reveal He is also our power. What is so great is He makes it so easy for us to reach out to Him and take it. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Jesus is making up His kingdom of us now and for sure we want to be with and of Him now as one of His faithful subjects Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ

JoeMo Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 "Last night I read 1 Corinthians 4:20: For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power." (From Gail) Right on Gail, Paul tells us what that power is: For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation: (Romans 15:18-20) I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing. Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.( 2Cor. 12:11-12) And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. (2Cor. 2:3-5) Jesus even tells us of this power: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." (John 14:12) Miracles are happening among God's people all over the world! people aren't just talking about God; God is backing up their words with power, signs and wonders! These gifts are ours for the asking through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Jesus has promosed us: "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." (Mark 16:17-18) This promise is not for the distant past or future; it is for us now! Quote
Gibs Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Gail is it not like the saying in away, "sticks and stones will break the bones but words cannot hurt you". 1Co 4:19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. 1Co 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. But his next verse puts one to thinking, 1Co 4:21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness? To work with the three verses is enlightening. The power of love, Christ is love and He in you is what we all need and must have it appears to me. The Spirit of meekness, teachable, humble and broken to Him the rock. Mt 21:44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
