bonnie Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Robert I have asked you those questions before as well. Its about trying to understand where you are coming from. Its clear your faith is in Christ. You have established that. But please answer these simple questions. If your wife or kids were being hurt, if you saw someone being raped, mugged, beaten etc would you act in their defense or would you just pray and walk away from it? These same questions have been asked for years.Good luck on receiving an answer. We have some religious sects in MN that believe as Robert claims he does, not for others but themselves. They would not use physical force to defend their wives or kids. They would pray and walk away if possible. Feeling if God did not protect them it was their time to die. If they witnessed a crime,no matter what it might be they would not come forward and testify. While I disagree with their beliefs I can respect the fact that their faith is reflected in their answers and actions Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
Gibs Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Here is a different slant on this guns and shootings and killings, Looks like it maybe better be the pills, yeah not out of a gun but ones prescribed, read into this read at this url, http://www.thecommonsenseshow.com/2012/12/21/ban-the-pills-not-the-guns/ Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
Robert Posted December 22, 2012 Author Posted December 22, 2012 If your wife or kids were being hurt, if you saw someone being raped, mugged, beaten etc would you act in their defense or would you just pray and walk away from it? Here's a question back: Isn't God in control? Apparently in a limited fashion....Satan is the god of this world and his work is seen in everything. A Christian, ultimately, shouldn't be afraid to die. Try to avoid death, but without violence just as Christ. Quote
Robert Posted December 22, 2012 Author Posted December 22, 2012 If my human nature had its way I would wipe out anyone trying to hurt my wife. If led by God I would try to protect her without undue violence. God is my shield and my protector, not a 44-mag. Quote

The whole "Well its Gods will" is the ultimate escape from having any accountability. I don't believe most people want to die.I am not afraid to die in the sense of unknowns. Some people are terrified at the thought because of their particular faith or lack of it. I would not want to leave my family.Rotten as this world can be I enjoy life and I think I am supposed to. I don't believe it is God's will that 20 innocent children died needlessly. Frankly I wish there had been someone with a little bigger gun and the ability to use it to stop the man that killed so many. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Robert Posted December 22, 2012 Author Posted December 22, 2012 The whole "Well its Gods will" is the ultimate escape from having any accountability. Is cancer God's will? No. Is shooting a thief God's will? Again, no. God's will is for all men to be saved. He wants the best for all - the just and the unjust. But sometimes, in His love (and God is love), He removes His protection and life-sustaining presence for a greater purpose - namely our eternal welfare. Quote
bonnie Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Clearly not. Christ, through God, came to save us from the 2nd death - not the first. Quote: If not then we are to assume that God has determined it is your time to die at the hands of someone else? God doesn't do evil. God always is motivated by agape. God can remove His protection for a greater purpose. Jack Sequeira told a story about a wife who was concerned that her husband was starting to question belief in Christ. So she called Jack and wanted to know what to do? Pastor Jack told her to pray about it. So she ask God to do anything to keep her husband from apostasy. Not long after that prayer Jack received a call from her - she was crying. Jack asked what was wrong and she said that her husband had passed on. Apparently God removed his protection for a greater purpose - his eternal salvation. You are a devoted follower of Jack Sequeira,I am not. Nor do I believe that all the people that have died at the deliberate and wanton hands of another did so for a greater purpose. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Robert Posted December 22, 2012 Author Posted December 22, 2012 So let's arm all the teachers. Let's have a military state. Now are the teachers going to keep the guns on their sides or in a locked drawer? If not locked a kid get it and you know how that goes.....Guns are a bad idea. Place an undercover policeman at all schools. Are you willing to pay more taxes? Quote

Robert Posted December 22, 2012 Author Posted December 22, 2012 That isn't proof that we are not within our christian right to protect ourselves or or families. That is your "gospel" according to Robert. The Old Testament is full of folks wiping out their enemies. These same people nailed Christ to a wooden cross. So your attitude towards violence has a lot to do with how you treat God. Quote
Robert Posted December 22, 2012 Author Posted December 22, 2012 Quote: That isn't proof that we are not within our christian right to protect ourselves or or families. I would rather depend on God for protection instead of a gun. Jesus said he who lives by the sword dies by the sword. And Gibs brought out a good one: Luke 11:21 When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his possessions are secure. So for a season your 2nd amendment rights will protect you, but then: 22 But as soon as a stronger one attacks and overpowers him, the stronger one takes away the armor he had trusted and divides the stolen goods. So, if you live by the gun - if you trust the gun for your protection - eventually you'll lose. Quote
bonnie Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Then why didn't God Himself stop it? Answer: Because Adam & Eve picked another leader - he is "the lord of this world". bonnie Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Quote: Is cancer God's will? No. Is shooting a thief God's will? Again, no. What does cancer have to do with shooting a thief? Just for the record I would not shoot a thief that simply was taking some possession of mine. Cancer is not God's will anymore than the victims of this latest slaughter was,but most people with cancer will do what they can medically. Maybe they shouldn't as God has a higher purpose in their death. Quote: God's will is for all men to be saved. He wants the best for all - the just and the unjust. But sometimes, in His love (and God is love), He removes His protection and life-sustaining presence for a greater purpose - namely our eternal welfare. Sometimes? The six million slaughtered Jews, the millions of those slaughtered by Stalin, the thousands of slaves that died while being captured and enslaved were all for a greater purpose? Then we should have applauded these people committing these acts for God's greater purpose. The day will come when the NRA has little to say about anything the state doesn't sanction. But the criminals will certainly get guns but that shouldn't be a problem for you. God tolerates them and has a higher purpose for the victim they choose or that gets in his way. I really don't see what your problem is. Robert Posted December 22, 2012 Author Posted December 22, 2012 Sometimes? The six million slaughtered Jews.... Outside Christ (the unbeliever) is to a larger degree under the power the wicked one. I didn't know the Jews of the holocaust, but we have recorded in the Bible the unbelief of many of them during the time of Christ. Read what Matthew recorded: Matt 23:37 "Jerusalem, Jerusalem...How often I wanted to gather your people together, just as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings. But you didn't want that. Now many of the Jews didn't accept Christ - they rejected Him. Did God wipe them out? No! "God destroys no man. Everyone who is destroyed will have destroyed himself. Everyone who stifles the admonitions of conscience is sowing the seeds of unbelief...." [Ellen White] Also, keep in mind, it's not just the Jew that has died under unbelief. Sodom & Gomorrah were Gentiles. Quote
