You are right,I can see that it came across as an attack.I apologize for that. That really was not the intent. It is your message and has been for a long time,so I used your name Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. Peace is not the continual condemnation of others. bonnie Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 No Robert, there are people that do the right thing simply because it is the right thing to do. Plain and simple. If I were in need of help and had a choice of three...... The legalists, the one that offer help as it wins a few brownie points towards eternal life The liberal who preaches "agape love" and "I don't have to,I am not under the law" Or a man that says he is a pagan and simply offers to help because he sees a need,my choice would be the pagan any day. Robert Posted January 2, 2013 Author Posted January 2, 2013 Should that agape not include ones own being? Thats what I am asking. No, you are born completely void of agape. You have only self-love. Quote
Robert Posted January 2, 2013 Author Posted January 2, 2013 The "agape" chapter 1 Cor 13:1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12 Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love (agape). Quote

Robert Posted January 5, 2013 Author Posted January 5, 2013 Yes, and no one is living Christ's life. The law points us to Christ our righteousness. But, as I said elsewhere, we believers are no longer under law. Quote
Gibs Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 You are under the law if it isn't in your heart, and when it is then it is your law too. It then becomes ones love to do. To love the law is to love Him who first revealed the law of love. Law breakers only reveal they don't truly have love. Jesus said it in so many words, If you love me, keep my commandments. Without love that cannot be done. Ro 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Love is expressed in obedience! "He who has the love of God shed abroad in his heart, will reflect the purity and love which exist in Jehovah, and which Christ represented in our world. He who has the love of God in his heart has no enmity against the law of God, but renders willing obedience to all His commandments, and this constitutes Christianity. He who has supreme love to God will reveal love to his fellow-men, who belong to God both by creation and redemption. Love is the fulfilling of the law; and it is the duty of every child of God to render obedience to His commandments. . . . {SD 51.2} The law of God, which is perfect holiness, is the only true standard of character. Love is expressed in obedience, and perfect love casteth out all fear. Those who love God, have the seal of God in their foreheads, and work the works of God. Would that all who profess Christianity knew what it means to love God practically. . . . They would have some realization of the infinite holiness of God, knowing that He is high and lifted up, and the train of His glory fills the temple. They would have a powerful influence upon the life and character of those around them, which would work as leaven amid the mass of humanity, transforming others through the power of Jesus Christ. Connected with the Source of power, they would never lose their vital influence, but would ever increase in efficiency. {SD 51.3} 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Robert Posted January 5, 2013 Author Posted January 5, 2013 Really? cause that seems like the whole premise of Christianity to me...... Many Christian still belong under the OC because of two reasons: 1] They have failed to understand the love of God 2] They have failed to understand why God gave the law Quote
skyblue888 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 If our focus is on obeying the letter of the law we will never be able to satisfy its requirements. We will become as dry as the good old Pharisees or as dry as the hills of Gilboa, without dew or rain, without the Holy Spirit. But if we continually fix our eyes upon Jesus, His divine Person, and accept His merits, which it is our privilege to claim, we shall receive power from on High to enable us to do the works that the law demands. Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.
