BobRyan Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 1 Thess 5 tells us not to despise the messages sent from God by His prophets... so "we don't". And "yes" SDAs are known for our views on accepting Lev 11 - clean and unclean meats as well as teaching that the Bible model of Genesis 1 and 2 - where mankind was given a vegetarian diet -- is best. Christ Himself is known for saying that the Law of God would not be changed and that He did not come to abolish the scriptures. In any case - that OP quote that Christ was in fact a Seventh-day Adventist when you look at His teachings is pretty interesting. Randy Skeete has two other sermons that everyone should hear. Here is one of them. Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." COL 316.
Ron Amnsn Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Yes, Jesus is called "the Son-of-Man" on account of the very fact that He - GOD - was made of the seed of David according to the flesh. I think the reason Jesus is called the "Son of Man" is because the word "Man" in Hebrew is the same as the word "Adam" and there is a prophecy about a specific descendent of Adam that would crush the head of the serpent. Jesus is "THE Son of Adam" that fulfills that prophecy. The rest of us are also descendants of Adam, but we are not the long-awaited One to fulfill the ancient prophesy. Jesus is called the "Son of David" for a similar reason. There are prophesies regarding a particular descendant of David. Quote
Ron Amnsn Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Was Christ a Seventh-day Adventist - for all intents and purposes? No. Some teachings of Jesus are not accepted in the SDA Church. Jesus taught, "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished." (Matt 5:17-18) But SDA's teach that portions of the Law and the Prophets are no longer valid, and they think (even though Jesus specifically commanded that they not think such things) that Jesus came to fulfill the Law in order that those portions could be abolished. Jesus taught, "Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." (Matt 5:19) But among SDA's those who keep and teach all of the commandments of God are not called "great in the kingdom of heaven", rather they are called "Judaizers" or "legalists" or "stuck in the Old Testament". Jesus told the church of Thyatira "Nevertheless what you have, hold fast until I come." (Rev. 2:25) But the SDA church teaches that what the church of Thyatira had is not sufficient -- that before Jesus comes people will need the additional teachings of the SDA church. Jesus really was of the tribe of Judah, heir to the throne of David, which makes him Jewish by nationality. But more important than that, Jesus lived according to the Law of Moses, showing how God intended His Law to be lived, which puts him within the realm of the Jewish religion of his day and outside the bounds of the SDA religion of our day. Quote
Windsor Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I suppose the church of Thyatira sacrificed animals as well as all the other Levitical laws in terms of clothing material and mold and skin lesions and kept all the feast days? Quote Remember Adventists Online?

And yes many Adventist eat meat, but Adventist are not known for teaching meat eating. They are known for teaching vegetarianism. And Jesus was definitely not a vegetarian. This idea that vegetarianism wasn't practical is a dodge. What evidence do you have for this? What I have found is instead of looking at evidence, most believers selectively choose only that which agrees with what they already believe. If there isn't any evidence to choose then they make stuff up. This sounds made up to me. Quote Rich http://tiny.cc/CM2j8
Ron Amnsn Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I suppose the church of Thyatira sacrificed animals as well as all the other Levitical laws in terms of clothing material and mold and skin lesions and kept all the feast days? If the church of Thyatira were following the example of Jesus they would have been aiming to keep God's Law of Moses as Jesus did. Because the Law allows offering animal sacrifices only at the place where God chose to place his name-- the Temple at Jerusalem, the church in Thyatira would not have sacrificed animals in Thyatira. Until the Greater Exodus when God regathers the Israelites and the Gentiles who are grafted in to Israel, the faithful Jews scattered outside of Israel keep as much of the Law as they can in their circumstances, as the prophet Daniel did. I have to say that I think you are wrong about SDA teaching vegetarianism because not once in the churches I have attended and so attend do they teach that. Yes, they do teach having a healthy lifestyle but they do not actually teach what you say. I must say that many of the SDAs in here are quite the fundamentialists. Quote

God instructed Adam and his descendants how and when to sacrifice animals. The last instructions we have from God about how to sacrifice is that it can only be done at Jerusalem with properly consecrated descendants of Aaron officiating as priests. King Saul presumed that God didn't really mean what he said about how to sacrifice and suffered the consequences as a result. "And Samuel said, Has the LORD as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of divination, And insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He has also rejected you from being king." That is the example that Jesus gave us when he said, "Follow me." Can't I be an imitator of you as you imitate Christ? That's what Paul taught. FLO Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I've not followed this thread - But I have to wonder which of the Beliefs of the SDA Church Jesus is opposed to. As far as I know : Jesus believed in both the 7th day Sabbath and the Second Advent. Thus - I would have to say that He is a Seventh day Adventist. Jesus would never have celebrated Christmas and Easter, both of which are pagan celebrations that were adopted by the Catholic church and they the SDA church still celebrates. Jesus celebrated Passover as well as the other Holy days of Lev. 23 and the SDA church does not. (www.EasterTruth.info) Quote FLOwww.Yah-Tube.com

(www.EasterTruth.info) That still puts Him square with those within the SDA Church who 1) don't celebrate the pagan holidays, and 2) do recognize and celebrate the Passover and other Holy days. However...celebrating Passover truthfully means not being vegan/vegetarian, at least for the day That said - if Jesus came down, with glory veiled, and walked among us today, He might just use the Christmas and Easter seasons to promote who He really is among the congregations and celebrations at those times, as the focus of those pagan holidays is...Christ Himself these days. The cultures that retained the pagan significance behind those respective holidays are long vanished from our time today. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent.
