CoAspen Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Quote: Do you suppose that is the reason Jesus did not tell His disciples to go into the world and heal all the people's ills, as opposed to "Go ye into all the World and preach the Gospel"? Do you suppose using that line of thinking is 'cop out'? Quote
CoAspen Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Quote: I used to expect that Christian people would be more open to looking for the truth rather than repeating the culturally mantra's that sustain the appearance of superiority. I'm more realistic now. Thanks for the info you provided. As by the dates on your quotes, this data has been around for a while but still ignored. That is the sad part. What is even sadder, is how the 'superiority' thing is still with us today considering what Christ went through with Religious leaders of His day. His life story can't be told without including the everyday activities of helping, healing, feeding and bringing hope to the everyday person. It is also sad that some parts of christianity feel 'it's all talk and no action'. Talking is cheap. Without action who will believe?? Quote
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted December 3, 2013 Administrators Posted December 3, 2013 A major issue of racial bias is found in death penalty cases. Viewed from the race of the victim, over 80% of those sentenced to death murdered a white victim, even though about half of murder victims are white. Murdering a nonwhite victim is far less likely to result in the death penalty. http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/race-and-death-penalty This and the clear disparity of the quality of representation of minority defendants vs. white defendants is one of the reasons I cannot support capital punishment. Justice is not blind, nor fair when it comes to prosecuting death penalty cases. Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

LifeHiscost Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised..... Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Saviour mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, “Follow Me.” Ellen White, Ministry of Healing p 143. Quote Lift Jesus up!!
