Question regarding the second death

Adam and Eve were both subject to temptation when they were still perfect with the same nature Jesus had when He came to this earth as a Babe. 

 

 

But Jesus didn't come to save Adam & Eve before the fall!  He came to save sinners after the fall.

 

Adam & Eve weren't tempted because temptation "comes from within" (see Mark 7:21-23 & Romans 7:18,20)

 

Adam & Eve's temptation and fall cannot be explained. How do two sinless beings made in the image & likeness of God, sin? The Bible refers to their fall as "the mystery of iniquity".   To attempt to explain this mystery is to justify it according to EGW.  I agree with her....

James 1:14 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. 14But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.

 

This wasn't true with Eve before the fall of mankind:

 

2 Cor 11: 3 .... "Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning" (craftiness)....She wasn't tempted from within because there was nothing in her to respond to sin.

 

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" 2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' " 4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." 6When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. (Adam was at the tree too!)

Sorry about the contradiction.  That last sentence should have been worded differently.  Adam & Eve's  fall cannot be explained.

Jesus came of the seed of Abraham (Heb 2:6)  not in the nature of Adam before the fall.

 

"The prince of this world cometh," said Jesus, "and hath nothing in Me." There was nothing in Him that responded to Satan's sophistry. He did not consent to sin. Not even by a thought did He yield to temptation. So it may be with us. Christ's humanity was united with divinity; He was fitted for the conflict by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. And He came to make us partakers of the divine nature. So long as we are united to Him by faith, sin has no more dominion over us. God reaches for the hand of faith in us to direct it to lay fast hold upon the divinity of Christ, that we may attain to perfection of character.--The Desire of Ages, page 123

 

So long as these two texts are the Word, I'm satisfied Jesus had nothing but revulsion for the sinful propensities for the temptations that satan thrust upon Him.

 

15For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. 16Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need....Hebrews 4

 

If Jesus lived a life sullied by propensities toward sinful conduct, the Word (Jesus) would not be speaking the truth. And if anything in Him responded to temptations as the deceitful heart of man does, since that is a trait thrust upon man by the prince of darkness, then Jesus could not have said nothing was found in Him, given by the prince of this world.

 

“After this I will not be speaking much with you, for The Prince of the world is coming and he has nothing to use against me.....John 14

Christ took our humanity in its fallen condition.  The humanity He assumed at the incarnation produced "the Son of Man" and as one of us He was extremely tempted, yet He never sinned not even by a thought.
