Dr. Shane Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 I think G4J is just having some fun by making us think outside the box. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
cricket Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 I agree with Shane. Thinking outside the box is important if we are ever to reach people for Christ. To limit our views on how we observe others is stifiling to growth--both, for ourselves and for the growth of the church. Quote

Norman Byers, N.D. Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Some of you have lost your ability to discern between right and wrong. When a person, who has a user name "Gay4Jesus" makes a comment like he did, it's inappropriate and gives the appearance of evil. When you all agree with this, that it's no big deal or what ever, you appear to be condoning this behavior among children. To me it's very obvious what the little girl on the right is reacting to. How you can't see that is beyond me Norman Quote The unconditional pardon of sin never has been, and never will be. PP 522
cricket Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 It's not that I can't see what the obvious interpretation is--my first reaction was the same as your's. To say that other interpretations are wrong, however, is a closed-minded reaction. It is quite possible that our initial understanding is wrong. We aren't given any more information than a simple snap-shot. We don't know the context. Judging by appearances is deceiving ourselves! Surely, there have been times that you've been judged by appearances--times when the observer has been grossly mistaken. Think outside the box for a while. If it were a picture of a girl kissing a girl, there would be no automatic association that they were homosexual. Just the same: if it were a picture of a little boy kissing his mother, you wouldn't automatically think he had an Oedipal Complex. Still, there is no evidence to convince us that either interpretation is true or untrue. There is a picture I see on this very screen of two men holding hands--of what interpretation would you suggest I make of the photo? Ordinarily, if I were to see two men holding hands, I would jump to a conclusion of homosexuality--that would be missing the mark entirely though, wouldn't it? Or, am I right on target and correct to assume that you're condoning the very behavior you seemingly adamantly oppose? Quote

Norman Byers, N.D. Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Hi Life here are the verses that I use to back up my statement. We can't make excuses for the flesh my friend and yet I am condemning no one, just the comment and the name chosen that made the comment. I have nothing against G4J, I don't even know the person. Rebuke is an unpleasant experience but if taken it will be a blessing to the person. Christianity is not a "Safe" place for self, it is a place where we learn how to die to self and be changed by the word through the Spirit and by one another. Here are fitting verses for this situation, Luke 17:1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offenses will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! 2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. 3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. Sounds harse? These are the words of Jesus, not mine, although I agree. To defend an offense is counter productive to us as God's children, but by rebuking we can then extend forgiveness as the offender sees the light. Then we can grow in grace. This is one of the problems with a lot of the Christians today, we won't admit when we have made a mistake. Instead we blame the reprover as though they did something evil. It's the Laodicean way. Mat 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Phi 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 2Ti 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Tit 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. Beryl Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Guess I am a bit slow in my thinking. I thought, "What a cute picture", and it was only after Norman's comment that I went back, looked at the picture again, and could see no wrong, until I noticed that it really WAS a boy seated in the middle -- not a girl, as I first thought. I guess it all depends on what you are looking for (or your age!!)
