olger Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Hi Rob. I don't have a gospel, I have a Redeemer. His Word is quite sufficient. all the best, gcw Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

Yet Jesus told His disciple that seventy years after His death, they should pray that their flight not be in the winter or on the Sabbath, and institution out of the Old Covenant (in your eyes) as opposed to the everlasting covenant from God for time immemorial for His children. [:"red"] "But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:" [/] Matthew 24:20 KJV This is definately <img src="/adventist/images/graemlins/129933-offtopic2.gif" alt="" />. And I think the subject has been discussed (and probably cussed adnauseum) in various other threads. Answer perhaps only if you think it is worth pursueing. And maybe it can be moved to another thread. [:"red"] "And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth." [/] Genesis 9:16 KJV Of course, that one was especially about never allowing humankind the indignity of perishing by world flood. But what about this one____ [:"red"] "And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee" [/] Genesis 17:7 KJV [:"red"] "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." melvin mccarty Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 It's ok Robert and I forgive you for your somewhat harsh words addressed to me. I'd like to say however that there is a great difference between "selfishness" in the sense that I see it being used here and "self preservation" which is certainly not a sin and is an essential natural reaction. As has been observed on another thread we need a healthy sense of self-worth to function in this life. The concept that used to be in a hymn "for such a worm as I" (now changed thankfully) is only a defeatist sentiment. Jesus did not die for worms. He died for beings made in his own image even though warped by the devil. Now please do not take this post apart sentence by sentence Robert! I know all the texts that you like to quote. I know of others too. Hey that was a fun picture that Stan posted wasn't it? mel Quote

"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." Jesus had every reason to preserve His life, but He didn't! Why not? He loved you more than Himself. He was willing to die eternally so that you could live eternally. That's my whole point, there's none righteous (infants included). What do you think Christianity is a warm fuzzy? The Bible throws the glory of man in the dust… For me I have no problem that my goodness is but a worm in comparison to God's selfless love. Do you know why? Because my esteem is not in me, but rather it is outside of me. It is in the God who loves me more than himself. We need God-esteem, not self-esteem. Rob Quote
