My home church had all kinds of things floating around among them about the Name of Jesus or u must baptize people using all three names and then say the name of Jesus again at the end. A few believed it was essential to Salvation( meaning if the baptism was true baptism ..sort of thing ). I believe Gregory Mathews when he says it's really not an SDA theological thing. I know that on some level but I have come across that sort thing often enough to wonder. "not allowed to say His Name" " you must say it right" ..etc Even going so far as spelling God like "G_d" on the internet to show reverence. I have even come across KJV ONLY people in our SDA church as well. They believe all other translations are suspect. There all kinds of Adventists. In a church where works and obedience is heavily espoused it definitely plays into what we can do to be saved. Maybe that's why. ......................... Disciple of Christ, Everybody shares what jazzes/drives them. And my heart glows warm seeing your typed enthusiasm for God. We are all very different and different things move our hearts in different stages in life. GOD gets you. I myself talk about the love of God and His constant heart of non condemnation toward all sinners.. That doesn't get much traction or comments maybe cause its so Scandalous. In a religion where the exact right doctrine is KING.. anything off or slightly different puts people on the defensive. Hang in there and thank you for being so kind and patient. Blessings. Thank the Lord not me brother. I am called to be patient in instruction. 2 Timothy 2:24-26 24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. Brother, we are both brothers in the Lord, children of God(Galatians 3:28; 1 John 3:1-2; John 1:12; Romans 8:14,16-17; Matt 5:9). 2 Corinthians 6:18 “And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” The only way you wouldn't be my brother is if your Father was the devil. 1 John 3:10 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. John 8:44-45 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Sister, I have presented it in a simple manner to be understood by any who reads the scripture provided. It's very straightforward, and even numbered for the most part. I have shown this very study on baptism and the name to several people in person and on the internet. And only a few had trouble understanding at first, but that was because when I gave it to them they did not look up any of the scripture I listed for each point being made. After reading it they had no trouble understanding. Some even understood and accepted the name just by reading the Original definitions shown in the base words given in the Strongs concordance. My point being sister, I have it listed like I do to make it easier to understand. I have tried alternate ways that go into great detail for each point and the more description I give with my own words the more confusion arose. That is why I let scripture speak for itself in this study. May the Truth Guide you sister. Quote

Sister, That's true, the correct name is not the basis of faith. But Love in and of itself just the same as faith is not a justification. We are justified by faith AND works, we are not justified by faith alone. James 2:14-26 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. We are saved by Faith alone(Ephesians 2:8-9) but we are justified by faith and works(James 2:14-26). So if we have faith we will keep the commandments of the Lord(Revelation 14:12-13; John 14:15-21). One of Those commandments, and one of those works that must be done, is that we must be born again(John 3:1-8; 1 Peter 1:23; Colossians 3:10; 2 Corinthians 5:15-17; Titus 3:5; John 1:11-13). Baptism is the means by which we are born again(Romans 6:3-11; John 3:2-7; Galatians 2:19-20; Colossians 2:10-15,19-23) born in the spirit(John 3:6; Galatians 4:29). In order for the Baptism to work you have to have a name(Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:38; Acts 19:5). Not just any name but a name so special, powerful, and unique that it was the only name of its kind given under heaven(Acts 4:10-12; Matt 28:18-20; Acts 10:48). A name given to us by God Himself, given to us in God's own name(John 5:43)(Yah). The bible speaks in great detail on this matter, and does not fail in stressing the magnitude and importance of the only name heaven has given us to be saved. So you see, baptism in the correct name is a work that must be completed by those with faith. But in order for baptism to work(even with the correct name) you must first have faith. Mark 16:16 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Quote

If you love him, you will have faith. if you love him you will keep his commandments and do his work. But we are saved by faith alone. We are justified by faith and works with our love for Christ. John 14:15-24 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. 20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. 22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. James 2:14, 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. We are saved by faith alone under the Law of Faith.(Romans 3:21,22,24,25,26,27; Galatians 2:16; Hebrews 11) That's right brother Christ is our savior, no man comes unto the father except by him. John 14:6 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. It says in his name we to be baptized and reborn. John 3:1-8 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. Romans 6:3-11 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: 9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. 10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. There is only one name given under heaven unto man that brings salvation, it is in this name we must be baptized.(Yahshua) Acts 2:38 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 4:12 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 10:48 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. So you see brother, in order to see the kingdom of Heaven you must have faith in the Lord, love him, and keep his commandments. One of those commandments is to be born again in the only name given to us under heaven, there is salvation in no other Name. It is by the Name Given to us under heaven that we must be baptized in to be saved. There is Salvation in no other name. Quote

Let a man believe the truth simply because it is the truth. Anyone can quote scripture, slap various texts together to make assumptions about what they think it means, and call themselves "prophet" or "evangelist"... But presenting your ideas as though you have all the answers, as though you are our "teacher," doesn't show you to be interested in what anyone else has to say. In fact, responses to some of the members here, despite the facade of calling people, "brother," or "sister," really have undertones of rudeness and smugness — not particularly Christ-like characteristics. You are free to think what you like about the "requirements" for being saved... And you know what? Because that's what you believe, it might very well be true for you. But that doesn't mean everyone else needs to see it your way. Salvation does *not* depend on believing what you've written here in this forum. Sister, I agree completely. We show credibility by showing scripture and proving the word of God. We judge everyone by the Law of Christ, and we judge the word they bring by the law of Christ. Comparing scripture with scripture and the word of God with the word of God. If a Satanist were to bring you the truth(in this scenario what he brings is the honest to God truth) and prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt with scripture alone, does it make it any less true because he is a Satanist? The point is if what is said is true then it doesn't matter who brings it whether that person is a Hindu a Muslim a Baptist or an Atheist. The truth is the truth no matter the person telling you it sister. I agree Satan deceives with cunning words and eloquence of speech. I present the word with crude speech as Paul and the Apostles did. Coming in the fullness of the Gospel of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:1-10 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. I don't make assumptions sister, I prove everything by the word of God Alone. If you disagree, then provide strong doctrine that proves I am wrong. And it if is true then I will accept it. Otherwise all you are providing is Lip service sister. 2 Timothy 4:2,5 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. 5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. 2 timothy 3:16 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Sister, I am interested in what you and anyone here has to say. The only thing I ask is that they do as we are charged to do and prove all things by the word of God alone. I can find a hundred ungodly men who can simply say "your wrong" or " No proof here" and then just walk away giving no proof for what they have said. A Christian proves what they believe with strong doctrine Alone, not with wisdom of words that only seem true until compared with scripture. Sister, if I have given that impression I do apologize. It is not my intent, to give that appearance. What I say is said with all sincerity and well meaning that a Christian is to have at all times. I truly care for every person I have spoken to on here even though I do not know them. I love them(and you) as I love my own flesh and blood, more so in fact because for any of you I would die, not kill, but die so that you could live. I cannot help or control how other's perceive the words I speak, just know I only say them with a loving intent. Not with any malice or Ill will. Sister, we are saved by Faith, but Justified by faith and works. Even if you do not accept that, it doesn't make it any less true. Every man that believed(everything we are required to believe) in the bible was baptized in Yahshua's name, the original and only name we are given. I am not forcing you to believe it, I am only asking you too and showing you that the bible and God are asking the same thing. If you disagree then just as Paul said, prove that I am wrong with scripture alone. No other source is required, or given to show the truth. Not with wisdom of words, but with the word of God. Quote

I especially agree with this portion. "There's great power in a name. It says who we are, it's what we are known by to all those around us. And there's nothing so powerful as the name of our Lord God. The Bible says the name of the Lord is like a strong tower; the righteous can run to it and be saved. In a world that often feels chaotic and fear-filled, His name is the one to hold close." I added the bold and Italicized portions and removed bold from all it to make it more clear as to which specific portions I was agreeing to. Quote
