Yes, it is a Satan issue because as Ed mentioned it sounds like Satan is trying to keep you prisoner within his grasp. It does not surprise me that it only happens when you look upward

When Jesus walked the earth his only defense against the evil one was the Word of God. Although he could have, he did not use any resource that was not available to you and me.

It IS possible, Nico, but it is scary. But it will be worth it to you to try!

I assume you're familiar with this text, but I like the way The Message expresses it : [:"red"]But sin didn't, and doesn't, have a chance in competition with the aggressive forgiveness we call grace. When it's sin versus grace, grace wins hands down. All sin can do is threaten us with death, and that's the end of it. Grace, because God is putting everything together again through the Messiah, invites us into life—a life that goes on and on and on, world without end. [/] Romans 5:20, 21

[:"red"] 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. [/]

One interesting point concerns the Greek verbs. The Greek verb for "sinned" indicates completed action in the past. "Fall short" is in continuous present tense, so "continually fall short" is the sense of it. But the verb translated "justified freely" is the most active form of the verb.

Not only is it an interesting literary device, but it says something interesting about sin and God's grace.

We have sins that are over and done. As long as we're here, we continue to fall short of God's ideal for us--but God's grace is an inexhaustible supply.

Perhaps you already knew these things. I'm just wanting to help.

But it's not Satan telling me those things. It's the Holy Spirit. Would any of us not recognize his own father's voice, even if the tones were those of sorrow?

I've tried that, but the Holy Spirit just explains to me why that cannot apply in my particular case. And He's right. When I look into my own abyss with bonestripped honesty, He's right. That's the inescapable part of it. I cannot even speak a word in my own defense, for every mouth is stopped before God, and God cannot be made out a liar.

It is beyond merely scary; it is impossible. There is no human language to convey the depths of terror and anguish I am subjected to in these things. Nico, in the Bible who is the tempter?

In the Great Controversy it mentions in the last days that this sort of battle would take place in souls, but I always thought it would be during the time of "Jacob's trouble" (Jacob wrestled with the angel but refused to let go until he knew he had God's blessing)

In the book, there was only one solution that worked, and that was that those souls had their sins cleansed by the blood of Christ. Nothing they did or could do would suffice.

One thing that alarms me is the amount of fear there is in the lives of those who have had connection with Satan. He seems to be a hard taskmaster...

Why should "the God we know from the Bible" permit such a thing to take place and not protect His child who is only seeking to know Him and commune with HIM????

I thought I did such a good job of translating my internal experience into human language yesterday, too. Do you know how many years that has been locked up inside me and I've been unable to articulate it??? Now I realize what a fool I was to even try. <img src="/adventist/images/graemlins/sad25.gif" alt="" /> I haven't even told the half of it, because it is so traumatic and horrible for me that my mind resists going there for the details. You know how it is if you have been in communion with God, you come out of the prayer time later and try to write down what He told you or showed you or what you experienced and you cannot catch but half of it. I cannot transcribe these conversations without breaking the flow of them so there is no way to record them. If I could record them you would know for certain it is God and not Satan speaking.

Satan has only ever been possessively jealous for, and fiercely protective toward, Me. It is God who introduced fear and terror in my world. He is a terror beyond description.

No, you were not wrong to share. It has done a lot to help us understand and your words are not in vain. We are not trying to add to your sorrow

We all have our struggles with the evil one, but it cannot even compare to that of someone who was/is (?) intimately connected with him

But that is not reason to give up. Hopefully you will gain some hope insight from the link that Gerry has provided

You know that people here do love you and we do not mean you harm. And if we can love you, then God infinitely more so.

I am sorry that you are suffering so much pain. I wish there was something more I could do, but this is a spiritual battle between God and Satan. We will continue to appeal to the Almighty God for His power in your behalf

Lord, we pray for our good friend Nico, who like those in Bible times were helpless to overcome save for Your power to free and to save.

Please help her in the way that You know how to heal her and relieve her. Help us to know the right words of hope and truth to share with her

This is YOUR battle, Lord, and we rest in Your ability to free her from the torture she has endured for so long

Lord, please forgive us of any sin that we have that would keep You from hearing our prayer, and hear the cry of our Nico. We know that Satan wants her desperately and is putting up a grand fight, but he also knows his place and his end.

While I am interested in seeing it just for the sake of doing so, I want to stress that what I'm discussing here in this thread is not a matter of harboring negative thoughts about myself or God or anything like that. Of course we all have negative thoughts about our sinfulness & our sins, but I don't think we are supposed to chase those away, else we'd all become comfortable with sin -- correct?

Finally, Jesus himself said, in John 6:37

So, whoever or whatever is telling you that you cannot belong to God cannot be God.
