I have to agree with Redwood, they are one in the same. We each have a "spirit" right? I think God does too. His spirit is like the glue that holds His "persons" (Father and Son) together, so to speak - and that holds us together in Him, too. (John 17)

The only failing of the human spirit is in not knowing Who's you truly are, and that the Love is real. Love fearlessly.

The believer can never say he has no sin or that he has never sinned. That would be a lie.

Is that what Jesus said? "Go and don't commit adultery anymore?" Robert's Standard Version? How about the paralytic? What sin was He commanded to stop doing?

Get a good, Greek Bible and you'll notice that the definite article "the" precedes the word "sin". "The sin" refers to adultery.

You are such a legalist. You take Christ's words and pervert them by making Him a task master - a legalist Himself. Christ doesn't do what you do - overburden the believer. He takes him or her where they are at. It takes time to grow...there's trust issues...there's faith to mature. But no, you come in and play God and demand a certain level of performance. Hence you condemn yourself for what measure you demand of others the same will be required of you. Truly you are under law.

Would it not be a lie if God says, "Robert is perfect. He is perfectly honest." But if you continue to cheat Uncle Sam, and I'm not saying that you are, just saying "if", would not God be guilty of a lie?

Let me sum up.

Good behavior does not cause our salvation.

Bad behavior is natural before Christ.

If I can do nothing apart from Christ (John 15:5) and everything with Him (Phil. 4:13) then the only hope for me is to get with Jesus and stay with Him.

"He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake."

thanks for a lively discussion,

olger

That deserves another resounding AMEN!!!
