Administrators Gail Posted September 24, 2007 Author Administrators Posted September 24, 2007 Right you are, Morning Glory! I agree with you- some of those so-called "minor prophets" have major messages! Here's the next one: What book of the Bible begins with, "How deserted lies the city, once so full of people" (NIV)? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members phkrause Posted September 24, 2007 Members Posted September 24, 2007 Lamemtations 1:1 pkrause Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Administrators Gail Posted September 25, 2007 Author Administrators Posted September 25, 2007 And that, of course, is correct. Hmm... let me see... Who was the only judge to sing a victory song? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted September 25, 2007 Author Administrators Posted September 25, 2007 Right you are! Judges 5 records this victory song! On to the next! What sleepy young man fell from an upper window and died during a sermon by the apostle Paul? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members phkrause Posted September 25, 2007 Members Posted September 25, 2007 eutychus-Acts 20:7-12 pkrause Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Administrators Gail Posted September 25, 2007 Author Administrators Posted September 25, 2007 Nice! You can find that story in Acts 20:7-12 Okay, let's try another one: Who was born looking red? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members phkrause Posted September 25, 2007 Members Posted September 25, 2007 That would be Esau? pkrause Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Administrators Gail Posted September 25, 2007 Author Administrators Posted September 25, 2007 How quick was that? Nice work- and yes, Esau is the answer! You will find that reference in Gen.25:25 Hmmm.... Okay! Here's a harder one: For whom does Paul say the law is not intended? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted September 27, 2007 Author Administrators Posted September 27, 2007 Quote: For whom does Paul say the law is not intended? No takers? The answer is easy- the righteous! If you walk with the Lord, then your thoughts and actions will be united with His. When you behold Him, you will be changed and conformed more and more to His likeness. The reference here is 1 Tim.1:9 Okie dokie- Let's find another one for you. Here is another question concerning God's law: What will we have if, as Joshua 1:8 says, we meditate on the book of the law day and night and do all that is in it? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Morning Glory Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 "then you shall make your way prosperous, and you will have good success". Implies that one has control over one's success. By keeping the law, memorizing it, quoting it, and making it an intregal part of one's life one will THEN be able to achieve success. Sounds to me that in order to be a true success, one must be close to the Lord in studying and memorizing His Word. And since we can do nothing apart from God, by making this effort God will reward us. This is probably more than what you were looking for in an answer.....sorry to go on and on. I got carried away just thinking of the implied promise in this text!!! Morning Glory Quote Kindness is the oil that takes the friction out of life.
Administrators Gail Posted September 28, 2007 Author Administrators Posted September 28, 2007 Oh, I welcome the discussion!! If God's Word is a living word, then it will have power to change lives. Whether the success comes from the promise itself or from the changes that learning from holy principles of living bring, I'm game! May we all find such joy! Thank you for this contribution, Morning Glory! Well- let's try another question, shall we? What Old Testament book says, "And the name of the city from that day shall be The Lord Is There"? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
monica Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Ezekiel 48:35. Is it the Holy City, Jerusalem? Quote
Administrators Gail Posted October 1, 2007 Author Administrators Posted October 1, 2007 Quote: Ezekiel 48:35. Is it the Holy City, Jerusalem? Great question! My first reaction would be that it is the New Jerusalem. Ezekiel had seen in vision the division of the 12 tribes of Israel. He does refer to the "Great Sea", which is what they called the Mediterranean, but the Bible I looked at had references also to Revelation, which has to do with spiritual Israel and the New Jerusalem. So if you believe that prophecies could have a double application, this could fit into that interpretation. But certainly either Jerusalem or the New Jerusalem, either would have blessed by the presence of God. There is another point that I would like to make about the tribes, as I only did a surface glance at the whole chapter, but think this would be better discussed in one of the theological fora. Meet me there! :) Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted October 1, 2007 Author Administrators Posted October 1, 2007 Well, while we are chewing on that one, let's try another quiz question: What was named Nehushtan? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
