Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Morning Glory Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Honey and the honeycomb 9: the judgements of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10: More to be desired are they than gold, yes, then much fine gold: sweeter also then honey and the honeycomb. I heard in a sermon once that when judgement was spoken of in the OT, that it had a meaning closer to "protection" then the way we think of being judged today. That has made me feel a lot better about waiting for the Judgement Day. Now I think of it as the Day that God will rescue me, protect me from the punishment that I deserve and give me the reward that He has promised. In relation to this text, it could be said that the proction of God is sweeter than Honey......in todays culinary culture, I would say sweeter than dark chocolate!! So glad to see this thread revived!!! Morning Glory Quote Kindness is the oil that takes the friction out of life.
Administrators Gail Posted February 18, 2008 Author Administrators Posted February 18, 2008 Thank you for your post, Morning Glory! The theme of how the Psalmist can proclaim all the wonderful things about God's law in Psalm 119 (in addition to what is here in Ps.19) has given me much food for thought as well. There is another place in Scripture where it tells that God is for me. I like that, too, especially when thinking about the subject of judgment. I really enjoy comments on these diverse subjects! God's law is like honey and the honeycomb, more to be desired than gold, yea than much fine gold! Okay, now let's try another one: What Old Testament prophet does Peter quote in his speech at Pentacost? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted February 22, 2008 Author Administrators Posted February 22, 2008 The answer is: Joel (Acts 2:16) Now try this one: Who was the only one of Solomon's children mentioned by name in the Bible?
