Administrators Gail Posted March 17, 2008 Author Administrators Posted March 17, 2008 No, it isn't a trick question and you are absolutely right! Joseph and Nicodemus finally showed themselves freely as His followers- John 19:38-42 Next: To what did Naomi want to change her name? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
cricket Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Okay. Apparently it was "Mara" meaning, bitter. But the bitter irony?? No one followed her instructions. They kept right on calling her Naomi which meant pleasant. Guess it's best to keep the name changing up to God, eh? Quote
Administrators Gail Posted March 17, 2008 Author Administrators Posted March 17, 2008 It reflected her view on life at the moment, but it is clear that she was well-remembered and well-loved in her hometown. Here's one that is a little bit more difficult: What tribe, which could not occupy its allotted place in the Promised Land, took over somewhere else? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
cricket Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 The Tribe of Dan: Joshua 19 40 The seventh lot came out for the tribe of Dan, clan by clan. 41 The territory of their inheritance included: Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir Shemesh, 42 Shaalabbin, Aijalon, Ithlah, 43 Elon, Timnah, Ekron, 44 Eltekeh, Gibbethon, Baalath, 45 Jehud, Bene Berak, Gath Rimmon, 46 Me Jarkon and Rakkon, with the area facing Joppa. 47 (But the Danites had difficulty taking possession of their territory, so they went up and attacked Leshem, took it, put it to the sword and occupied it. They settled in Leshem and named it Dan after their forefather.) 48 These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the tribe of Dan, clan by clan. Quote
Administrators Gail Posted March 17, 2008 Author Administrators Posted March 17, 2008 Well done! VERY well done! You can also find the story in Judges 18. How long did it take Solomon to build the temple? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
cricket Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 1 Kings 6:1, 38 1 In the four hundred and eightieth year after the Israelites had come out of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, the second month, he began to build the temple of the LORD. 38 In the eleventh year in the month of Bul, the eighth month, the temple was finished in all its details according to its specifications. He had spent seven years building it. What I find most interesting is that in the entire chapter of 1 Kings 6, no one other than Solomon is mentioned as helping him to build the temple! He must have been awfully tired. Quote
Morning Glory Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 You crack me up!!! Just the way you worded this..........LOVE IT!!! In other places I believe it is documented that he had LOTS of help building the temple. He probably didn't lift a finger, but I could be wrong. Love your sense of Humor, Cricket!! cricket Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Isaiah 7:3 3 Then the LORD said to Isaiah, "Go out, you and your son Shear-Jashub, to meet Ahaz at the end of the aqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Washerman's Field. Isaiah 8:1-4 1 The LORD said to me, "Take a large scroll and write on it with an ordinary pen: Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz. 2 And I will call in Uriah the priest and Zechariah son of Jeberekiah as reliable witnesses for me." 3 Then I went to the prophetess, and she conceived and gave birth to a son. And the LORD said to me, "Name him Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz. 4 Before the boy knows how to say 'My father' or 'My mother,' the wealth of Damascus and the plunder of Samaria will be carried off by the king of Assyria." His first son was named Shear-Jashub, which means "a remnant shall return." His second son was named Maher-Shalah-Hash-Baz, which means "the spoil hastens; the prey speeds." Quote

cricket Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Revelation 21:22-23 22I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. Quote
