Moderators John317 Posted November 23, 2010 Author Moderators Posted November 23, 2010 Here he is photographing this old tree, and then below is the tree all by itself. I really only tagged along with my friend to see him work, and I took the pictures without a thought that they would be worth anything, but when we got back to his place, he raved about my pictures and he threw his own away. That is rare. He usually takes the best pictures. I admire his work very much. He's photographed in China, India, Mexico, South America, Europe, Poland, Thailand, Vietnam, etc. His favorites are Mexico, India, and China, in that order. If I myself were able to travel to far away places for photography, I would want to go to Ireland, Mexico (interior), India, China and Russia. But to be honest about it, I really prefer photographing America and Americans, my "backyard." Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Members phkrause Posted November 23, 2010 Members Posted November 23, 2010 Oh I know about most of the professional using PS. We used to do a lot of work in PS. I just wasn't sure what you did because you did mention that you used filters on your camera. I used to use filters too many years ago, especially filters for taking photos through glass. Moderators John317 Posted November 29, 2010 Author Moderators Posted November 29, 2010 The Baby is a girl I knew as a teen-ager. Here she is with her mother near the beginning of her 59 years of life. She passed away suddenly the day before this last Thanksgiving. Her name was Christine and I met her, seemingly by chance, at a park in Washington, D.C., where we talked all night sitting on the picnic table outside my parent's tent. After that we wrote to each other about twice a week for the next four years. Then, four months ago I re-established contact with her on FB. I'm glad I was able to tell her how much she meant to me. She said she remembered my address after all these many years. As a supervising EMT, Christine helped save thousands of lives. These pictures are for you, Christine. You lived for others and not for yourself. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Christine always loved horses and it shows in some of her earliest pictures. This was good practice for her since she would grow up to work on the phone a lot as a supervisor of hundreds of EMTs, directing ambulances to scenes of accidents, etc. 2) She kisses her brother Bill. Not sure little Bill wanted to kiss here. 3) Picture 3 was taken at Lake Michigan where she is shown (standing) playing with her brother Bill and her sisters. Moderators John317 Posted November 30, 2010 Author Moderators Posted November 30, 2010 Thank you, pk. I'm very glad to know you appreciate those photographs. Some of them are outstanding in their own right, strictly as photographs, quite apart from the identity of the people in the picture. It makes me think that if we could only look at the pictures that ordinary American have tucked away in their closets and drawers, we would no doubt discover many great images. Moderators John317 Posted December 1, 2010 Author Moderators Posted December 1, 2010 If I can, someday I would like to put ads in newspapers asking people to send me their best family photographs and make a book of the finest pictures among them. My idea would be to select pictures of families from as many cultures and nations as possible, which would show how much all humans have in common. Here's another picture of Christine, a good example of the kind of photographs I'm talking about: Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
