He died just days after she took the picture. She said she took it of her smiling in the dark to remind herself that she could smile even amid all the darkness. I thought those paintings in the park were pretty good myself. :-) For some reason, though, I kept going back to the lily pads and flowers. They're some of my favorite subjects.
