Moderators John317 Posted October 27, 2008 Moderators Posted October 27, 2008 I have to admit that I do not understand the 3-fold union between Church-State-Spiritualism. I understand Church (Rome) and State (Protistant USA), but what is the "Spiritualism" part? Who is that? It is across the "gulf", but what/who is it? Satan? Quote: Through the two great errors, the immortality of the soul and Sunday sacredness, Satan will bring the people under his deceptions. While the former lays the foundation of spiritualism, the latter creates a bond of sympathy with Rome. The Protestants of the United States will be foremost in stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the hand of spiritualism; they will reach over the abyss to clasp hands with the Roman power; and under the influence of this threefold union, this country will follow in the steps of Rome in trampling on the rights of conscience. {Mar 187.5} If you have access to Ellen White's writings, see SP 405-406 (Spiritualism Strengthened); 19 MR 282 1902 (Satan appears as angel of light); GC 590, 591; 589 (Evil spirits appear, even to God's people; miracles, Pro-Sunday spirit messages). Both the Protestants and Catholic believe strongly in the immortality of the soul and this idea will make them especially vulnerable to the influence of evil angels who will appear to them and urge them to make Sunday laws. They will be told that this is God's will and that the Sabbath was changed. Satan himself will eventually appear. This will be an overwhelming deception to those who don't have the Holy Spirit and don't know the truth for themselves. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Lineman Posted October 27, 2008 Author Posted October 27, 2008 God has always given men warning of coming judgments. Those who had faith in His message for their time, and who acted out their faith in obedience to His commandments, escaped the judgments that fell upon the disobedient and unbelieving. {LDE 13.1} The word came to Noah, "Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before Me." Noah obeyed and was saved. The message came to Lot, "Up, get you out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city" (Gen. 7:1; 19:14). Lot placed himself under the guardianship of the heavenly messengers and was saved. So Christ's disciples were given warning of the destruction of Jerusalem. Those who watched for the sign of the coming ruin, and fled from the city, escaped the destruction. So now we are given warning of Christ's second coming and of the destruction to fall upon the world. Those who heed the warning will be saved.--DA 634 (1898). {LDE 13.2} Quote Visit and Share the BibleTimelines.com URL ! (Explain the Gospel in just a few minutes, or maybe even seconds.)
Lineman Posted October 27, 2008 Author Posted October 27, 2008 Quote: Many will look away from present duties, present comfort and blessings, and be borrowing trouble in regard to the future crisis. This will be making a time of trouble beforehand, and we will receive no grace for any such anticipated troubles.--3SM 383, 384 (1884). {LDE 17.3} There is a time of trouble coming to the people of God, but we are not to keep that constantly before the people and rein them up to have a time of trouble beforehand. There is to be a shaking among God's people, but this is not the present truth to carry to the churches.--1SM 180 (1890). {LDE 17.4} How do you understand this? What is the "present truth to carry to the churches"? Quote: Great pains should be taken to keep this subject before the people. The solemn fact is to be kept not only before the people of the world but before our own churches also, that the day of the Lord will come suddenly, unexpectedly. The fearful warning of the prophecy is addressed to every soul. Let no one feel that he is secure from the danger of being surprised. Let no one's interpretation of prophecy rob you of the conviction of the knowledge of events which show that this great event is near at hand.--FE 335, 336 (1895). {LDE 16.5} At first this sounded like a contradiction until I looked at it closer. What I have underlined is the subject that we need to keep before the people always, that Jesus is coming SOON, not that there is a time of trouble coming. EGW is talking about not pushing the subject of the coming crisis on the people of God, but all people need to know that Jesus is coming SOON. Quote: Let the watchmen now lift up their voice and give the message which is present truth for this time. Let us show the people where we are in prophetic history. --5T 716 (1889). {LDE 16.3} Why? Because Jesus is coming soon and we all need to be ready! Quote Visit and Share the BibleTimelines.com URL ! (Explain the Gospel in just a few minutes, or maybe even seconds.)

What is the "present truth to carry to the churches"? You bring up good points. Much of the present truth for this time is showing the people where we are in prophetic history. The present truth includes the truth of the Investigative Judgment and the Three Angels Messages. None of these things can be understood without knowing and studying the prophecies relating to these days. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Moderators John317 Posted October 27, 2008 Moderators Posted October 27, 2008 What does it mean to "be ready"? Is everyone ready who is a member of the church and believes in Jesus? What more than accepting Jesus does a person need to do? Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Lineman Posted November 1, 2008 Author Posted November 1, 2008 Seems to me that at least two things need to be the focus of anything we do now days. Jesus soon return and what it means to be ready. Sky says, "The character of God is still the most critical issue in the church and in the world today." What really is the most important issue? Quote Visit and Share the BibleTimelines.com URL ! Sky says, "The character of God is still the most critical issue in the church and in the world today." What really is the most important issue? It's the character of God that saves us. The last day events/second coming don't. That is where we get our reward. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Yes Believe in Him ... and you have eternal life. Believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Praise God. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Lineman Posted November 1, 2008 Author Posted November 1, 2008 I don't think everyone understands "believe" the same way. There will be a lot of people who believe (know) that Jesus is God's Only Son, yet will not be saved because they don't trust Him. How do we know if we really trust Him? Lineman Posted November 1, 2008 Author Posted November 1, 2008 Does the Loud Cry bring on the Latter Rain, or is it the other way around? (It almost seems that they are the same thing except that one is the way people are and the other is God filling in the blanks.) Quote Visit and Share the BibleTimelines.com URL ! Lineman Posted November 2, 2008 Author Posted November 2, 2008 FYI I added the list John suggested for the last day events to the Revelation's Last Day Events Timeline . If anyone has suggestions as to what information should be linked to each event please let me know. I plan to add links to each event before to long. I am not crazy about how the timeline itself looks (It's not even a real timeline, unless you know what the graphics mean.), but I want the focus to be on the 2nd Coming. If I put more text/links on the timeline that focus will disappear. Suggestions? d Quote Visit and Share the BibleTimelines.com URL ! James 2 -- The "Devils believe in and tremble" Belief in a fact about Christ is not what saves people. They must then walk in faith -- they must be born again and by the Spirit put to death the deeds of the flesh Rom 8 is clear "IF by the Spirit you ARE putting to death the deeds of the flesh THEN are you the children of God". John makes it clear that the one that CLAIMS to know Christ and yet does not do this -- is not telling the truth. Paul argues in Romans 2 that those who claim to know Christ are to obey -- and if they do not - then heaven regards them as being among the unsaved. The FORGIVEN servant of Matt 18 "believed" he was forgiven - but did not forgive others -- his REAL forgiveness was then revoked "according to the text". in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin."
