Members phkrause Posted April 12, 2009 Members Posted April 12, 2009 And to add to that dgrimm, God knows our hearts and how we celebrate the Sabbath. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Taylor Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 dgrimmer, correct. The point is, that it doesn't matter at all when creation occured, or where on the planet Sabbath was "initiated" for planet earth etc. What matters is that God told us to keep it, Jesus kept it, he is our example, he did not sin so he made no error in the day, and it hasn't been lost track of from that day till ours, so it is a moot point. God would never ask us to do something that was impossible. Quote

Key Guy Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Farewell y'all! I give up....mel Give up on what? What was your objective here? I tuned in later than most but didn't get what you were trying to accomplish. Quote
melvin mccarty Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Graeme I am sorry you feel it neccessary to resort to name calling and abuse to cover your ignorance. There is ample information available so that no one needs to be ignorant of the stakes here. I do not wish to continue further posts on this topic. (By the way what was the subject of that "new important thread that must be answered?).....:-)....mel Quote
Taylor Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Keyguy supposidly we can't find out which day is Sabbath unless we know the exact date of creation. It has been pointed out that Jesus didn't sin, and he kept the Seventh-day Sabbath and it hasn't been lost from that time till now, so none of us get why Melvin keeps pushing the issue of needing to know the date of creation. But Mel, even if we don't understand you...we don't hate you at all. Quote
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted April 12, 2009 Members Posted April 12, 2009 I think Mel is talking about circumnavigating the globe and how one crosses the international dateline, thus making it a different day, though it has the same time at that point. I think it's an interesting idea. Quote Pam      Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Woody Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Perhaps Mel is suggesting that if Jesus didn't start off on the right day ... then maybe it is not important for us? I dunno. I fear I am unfortunately with the rest of you folks and just guessing at what he is referring to. But I would love to have him explain it more for this mush mind of mine. Robert Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 It has been pointed out that Jesus didn't sin, and he kept the Seventh-day Sabbath .... He also lived not to please Himself. There was no self-seeking in His life. If He were on earth today He wouldn't be buying a home for Himself...going to college and rolling in the money. He would live only for others even to the point of poverty. That too is demanded in the spirit of the law, yet I don't see you guys pushing this type of love as much as you do the Sabbath. What did James say? If you break one you've broken all of them. Sorry to ruin your party. Rob Quote
Woody Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 No problem Rob. I see your point and agree with it. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology. Â
Key Guy Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 My father (who turned 79 today!) was a Korean war vet. He said that on the way home to the US west coast from Japan the ship crossed the I-date line and he celebrated Sabbath 2 days in a row! He didn't have a problem with that. Quote
Robert Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 No problem Rob. I see your point and agree with it. You know my view....I see the Sabbath as a seal that will be opposed by the seal or mark of the beast. I believe these issues are in the future and these signs will not be the central issue. So I struggle with the Sabbath and what it means now. The only legitimate answer I can come with is that it points to God's rest in Christ Jesus. My two cents, Rob Quote

My two cents, Rob I struggle with the meaning of the Sabbath NOW... and see it more futuristic... but when the Sabbath comes around each 7th day... well... I don't know... I got too many things going through my head... like work, family, mother, dad and his new wife, sisters living on the edge, nephews and neices who blasphemed Jesus Christ, being the only "Real" Christian in my family, everybody against sda's, why is it so hard, I know the truth, but it is so hard......................................................... Quote Luke 4:19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Taylor Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I know this will sound like I am just repeating a line, but give those problems over to God, let Him deal with them, and enjoy the true rest that comes on God's holy day the Sabbath. Pray for them, love them, but take that time to enjoy communion with God. It is an especially beautiful blessing here on this earth where we have to much stress in life. (And by the way I am sorry you are facing opposition, but don't worry, Jesus faced much opposition by the leaders in his day. God approves of you. He loves you unconditionally.) Quote

Luke, I'm sure that there are many things that we don't know, as even the best information is "looking through a glass darkly". You have mentioned many folks in your post, but who is the One who says, Come unto me and I will give you rest? He is the One who will give you the peace that the world has robbed from you temporarily. I know it is hard. This may be your cross to bear, as we are to take up our cross daily. God's way is "Choose you this day who you will serve" - (A point made repeatedly here 4HP for the last days) In Lev 21 it is a day for Holy Convocation. In Is 66 we find that EVEN in the New Earth - "From Sabbath to Sabbath SHALL ALL MANKIND COME before Me to Worship". Nothing in there about "Sabbath lost it's meaning -- don't know what to do with it now" text in scripture. Though Robert seems to imagine something along those lines for some innexplicable reason. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." COL 316.
Robert Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Though Robert seems to imagine something along those lines for some innexplicable reason. I've spelled it out very clearly. I'm sorry you can't comprehend. Perhaps you you lay aside your preconceived ideas relating to your traditional view of the Sabbath? Rob Quote
Members phkrause Posted April 15, 2009 Members Posted April 15, 2009 One of the main meanings of the Sabbath is that it points back to the Creation of the World. So it seems to me that if you worship on the Sabbath, than you will be aware that there was a creator. Just a thought. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
