I'd say that someone who is financially blessed is someone that has been giving to the Lord and the Lord is giving them more.

That's how the Jews thought in the time of Christ....A good man is a rich man blessed of God....In this case paying tithe.

If I pay tithe in order to get more goods my motive is centered in iniquity. I'm being self-centered and God is going to reward me for that? Then sin pays....

I think you bring up some good points timewarp. I'd say that someone who is financially blessed is someone that has been giving to the Lord and the Lord is giving them more.

That certainly is the case with some. Certainly Abraham, Jacob, King David and Job were all wealthy men and blessed of God.

However money that is not earned honestly (like perks from a credit card) is shameful and not a blessing from God.

I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." 25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, "Who then can be saved?" 26 Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

It is impossible for any to be saved without God. It doesn't matter if they are rich or poor. Salvation is only possible through God.

Arnold Carnegie said that a man that dies rich dies in shame. He was one of the richest men of his day and by the time he died he had given away nearly all of his fortune.

Read how Abraham got his wealth....It wasn't necessarily from God.....David was a mess...Jacob the same....But, let's say all these man received wealth from God for arguments sake.

1] Did God make them wealthy because of their obedience to the law?

2] Did they look to their wealth as proof of their ticket to heaven?

When God blesses a person with wealth it is a test. The test is to see what the person will do with the wealth. God blesses some people with wealth and they fail miserably. He has a special place in hell designated for those that misuse His blessings.

That's exactly what I meant Shane. And I believe that timewarp was thinking the same. I would never think that someone who decieves others to get money is blessed by God. And doesn't God say in the Bible that if we are faithful in giving to him that he will not pour out more blessings. Now he might not of meant more money but he did say we would be blessed.

You must be very careful to understand what you are reading. The Jews read, "If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his laws ... The Lord will grant you abundant prosperity", and got busy keeping the law legalistically.

Does God want us to be selfish? When you bribe your kid (if you do) and state, "Johnny, if you are a good boy I'll..." Johnny immediately puts on his best face so he can get his way.

In other words parents who do this are training their kids to be fine legalists when they grow up. So they go to church and the Pastor says, "If you don't pay your tithe God won't bless you and you'll miss out on heaven too." So outwardly folks pay their tithe so they can buy a blessing. It's sickening...

And this idea of paying to get more back, well, that too is selfishness....How about paying to get nothing in return? (Read Luke 6:30-36).

God wants us to the right thing for the right motive. All selfish motivations pollute the act and in God's eyes such works are filthy rags. Hence the OC demands of the law expose even our motives.

So God shows partiality...? Also, if your view is right, why would God bless someone if it will make them fail? Doesn't sound like the God I know....

Well, I invite anyone that doesn't know this God to get to know Him. All one has to do is open their Bible, and their mind.

God tests us by giving us blessings and seeing what we do with them. That isn't causing us to fail. If we fail it is because we choose not to be faithful. There are thousands of artists, musicians, actors and authors in the world whom God has blessed with fantastic talents and they fail to pass the test.

Does God show partiality? I guess that depends on how someone defines partiality. He does not bless everyone equally. To some He gives musical talent, to others the heart of a teacher, to others the gift of public speaking, to others wealth, to others a wonderful singing voice, etc, etc, etc. God blesses different people different ways.

To others poverty...to others the gift of garbage disposal...To others nurse's aid to change bedpans. saywa

No?

Come on Shane, this is human speculation....God blesses all....He brings rain on the wicked and the just....What men do with those blessing is up to them....God is no respecter of persons.

to others wealth,

Like Hugh Hefner? Like those who exploit? Like the CEO who screws folks out of their pensions/jobs? God gave them these jobs? Please....

Another Ethics Complaint Dismissed

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

No. 09-186

Another Ethics Complaint Dismissed

July 24, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – The Personnel Board has announced that another ethics complaint against Governor Sarah Palin has been dismissed.

The complaint, the sixth filed by Anchorage resident Andree McLeod, accused the governor of violating the Ethics Act by receiving her salary while campaigning for vice president. The accusation, lodged Monday, was dismissed as legally flawed and factually devoid of merit.

Governor Palin remained on duty, conducted state business, and communicated with her staff and her constituents. “Andree McLeod has failed to prevail on any of the ethics complaints she has filed against the governor,” said Mike Nizich, Palin’s chief of staff. “It appears her agenda is clear – she’s abusing the ethics laws to harass public officials.”

If a person is concerned about the economy collapsing and wants something that will hold its value the answer is liquor and tobacco.

And you're telling me credit cards are evil? Or just being sarcastically funny?
