We don't actually live there. The house is rented to an Adventist pastor and his family. We only own half interest in the farm, the other half belongs to husband's brother and sister in law.

But it's a big house, with a finished walk-out basement, so there would be plenty of room, and I'm sure none of the other parties in question would mind having company under such circumstances. But we would be following the Bible admonition, if anyone will not work, let him not eat. All the gardening would have to be done by hand, and that would include dispatching the varmints that want to eat all the garden and the fruit from the trees themselves. There would be no free ride for anyone. And it would have to be carefully preserved to last through some long, harsh Michigan winters.

I think I mentioned it earlier in this thread, if the economy collapses, cigarettes and liquor will have more trading value than gold and silver. However I don't see that happening on a grand scale. It could happen on a small scale due to a natural disaster or war. If a big hurricane hits Miami or earthquake in LA it could cause the local economy to collapse and those stuck there would find liquor and cigarettes worth more than any quanitity of cash.
