To others poverty...to others the gift of garbage disposal...To others nurse's aid to change bedpans.

Let's not look down on the poor, those living in garbage dumps or nurse's aids. (Especially since my wife is a CNA) All of these have are indeed blessed by God. Not all of God's blessings are the same.

Matthew 20:

1. For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

2. And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

3. And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,

4. And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.

5. Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.

6. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

7. They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.

8. So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

9. And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

10. But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.

11. And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,

12. Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

13. But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?

14. Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.

15. Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?

16. So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

Matthew 25:

14. For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

16. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

19. After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20. And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22. He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

23. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

24. Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25. And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27. Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

31. When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory

The greatest chance any of us really have of being in a collapsed economy is if we become survivors of a major hurricane or earthquake. If one of us are in a devastated area where survivors are looking for food and clean water, gold coins are not going to help much. Alcohol and tobacco will. Now it may be immoral to use alcohol and tobacco to trade for food and clean water. That is certainly debatable. However my point is that it will hold its value better than gold.

sorry, getting into this discussion late but buying silver is obviously the way to go. Not an ETF but the physical in your house, in a safe.

Silver in grossly undervalued, is a metal used in all kinds of manufacturing processes. Get silver now while its still cheap!!!!!!!!

I think you could say that God giving the guy with 5 talents, who increased them to 5 more, a big 'at-a-boy' plus an extra talent, certainly blessed him. "You were faithful and here's more for you". God actually gave the successful stewards their talents back to them.

God shows that He rewards success, so why would he not reward faithful stewards of His blessings today?

Years ago, I set out to prove that business owners with integrity can not only succeed but thrive. I am pleased to say that I have not been disappointed with God's response.

PS: Laz, I think you are right about silver.

I'm not....The point is, according to your theology, God put them in those positions just like he placed the rich in those positions. No, God's about free-will....He doesn't force, coerce or any such sins. God is agape. That's means there's no bias...no favorites with God. He loves all equally. He blesses all. What men do with those blessing is something else, but you can't say God gave Hugh Hefner the talent to produce Playboy, etc....That's a stretch....

Check Gold/Silver prices..... rapid moves! They may pull back a little but the trend is up.

Apparently the Chinese, by their acquisition of Gold, from a number of sources are at the very least supporting these record prices. I think a number of other countries are trying to get out of the dollar and are doing so by buying gold.
