Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted July 9, 2010 Members Posted July 9, 2010 I wasn 't trying to be flippant. Jacob was just the first person to pop into my mind who God helped even though Jacob did those things. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. teresaq Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 What kind of GOD would help a disobedient and rebellious guy who sleeps with prostitutes and deliberately sin? a God Who loves us and tries to reach us anyway He can? Luk 6:35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. i think we get stuck in our fallen idea of "justice" mode and cant see the larger picture....or the results of our idea of "justice"... Members abelisle Posted July 9, 2010 Members Posted July 9, 2010 A very intellectually provocative question! I would assume that the person who believes in "universalism" would say "Of course. Everyone will be saved." Maybe they would need to have some mind-alteration sessions before they attain full heavenly status? Some believe that process will happen as an adjunct/corollary to "we will all be changed in the twinkling of the eye" 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 (New International Version) 51Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. And we all better be changed mentally and in all other ways we know not of because otherwise there will be some very visibly upset people in heaven if they see the likes of Hitler or Osama binLaden there! Neil D Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 I am reminded of amazing love..... I am reminded that God is not a god of miracles in the sense that He creates new situations for His creatures....Rather the miracles that I am aware that God creates is the healing power to put relationships aright...to heal the hurts that a person inflicts upon another...to overcome the difficulties that make relationships impossible...My God is a God that does put relationships aright...and that is a miracle... BobRyan Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 There has always been a tendancy among some Christians (which Oprah used to be) to distance themselves from God's Word just enough to come up with a god made in their own image. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." COL 316.
Moderators John317 Posted August 21, 2011 Moderators Posted August 21, 2011 What kind of GOD would help a disobedient and rebellious guy who sleeps with prostitutes and deliberately sin? God helps everyone, irrespective of what we do. At least He tries to help us. But when we are deliberately sinning, we're not listening and allowing God to do what He wants to do in our lives. I don't think it's a matter so much of whether God helps people who are rebellious and deliberately sinning-- the question is are those who are living this way in a saved condition? If people who are rebellious and disobedient to God and deliberately sinning were to die in that condition, would they be saved in God's kingdom? What does the Bible say? Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
BobRyan Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Another Oprah comment - then back to subject Here is a quote about Oprah from a writer - Jason Kovar Quote: Oprah has admitted to coming into contact with what is called the Universal Hum. Roseanne, also a New Ager, has admitted to an initiation into this hum and occultist Jimmy Page wrote in his song Stairway to Heaven that, "Your head is humming and it won't go in case you don't know." Page admits that Stairway, the most popular song ever in America, was given to him by the spirit world via automatic writing. Others who have had contact with the occult attest to a sinister type of ringing or humming that lulls the mind and body in preparation for advanced occult indoctrination. Oprah claims that once she broke into the other side, she encountered the sense of empowerment she sought for. This insidious pursuit of empowerment has led to selling her soul to demonic spirits for ingenious perpetration and temporal gain. Blatantly honest about her reliance on the spirit realm, Winfrey has said: "I ask God for grace, and the power of the spirits....Calling on you. Calling on you...I really believe I can call her up. Her and so many others. I'm counting on them" ... Oprah takes her marching orders for her entertainment empire directly from the spirit world. Time magazine wrote of these spirit guides: "Oprah Winfrey calls these her 'go there' moments, spiritual episodes of divine guidance that far transcend the chatty exchanges with her studio audiences- Sometimes the epiphanies carry the voices of Negro slaves-Joe and Emily and Dara; Sue and Bess and Sara. Winfrey says that she has come to know each of them personally and calls them in at will to guide her in her work. The spirits began visiting her a few years ago..." in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." COL 316.
