Members phkrause Posted August 21, 2010 Members Posted August 21, 2010 Except the man with the Holy Spirit isn't focusing on the law, but on Christ. What is your obsession with the law anyways? Is it that hard to understand that once you accept Christ, you will over time naturally follow the law? The law simply reveals our sickness, once we realize that we are sick, we seek the Physician. It is that simple. Excellent post Lutz13 Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

Or do you wander around with the disease still, boasting how great your physician is? Only the law tells you if you are indeed cured... Mark :-) Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Guest Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 That is exactly right Mark. The law is the mirror. Quote

teresaq Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Only the law tells you if you are indeed cured... Mark :-) we kinda have to be careful with that kind of thinking...Php 3:6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. it seems paul thought measuring his life by Christs instead of the law much more important... Php 3:7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. skyblue888 Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 The righteousness which is of God by faith in the merits of a crucified and risen Saviour is the righteousness of the law, not merely written but spoken. "All Thy commandments are righteousness." Psalm 119:172. "All the words of My mouth are with righteousness." Prov.8:8. "I the Lord speak righteousness." "The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness." Isaiah 45:19,23. When Christ spoke the Ten Words on Sinai He was speaking righteousness. The word that proceeds out of His mouth are good and holy and just. They are filled with righteousness because they are filled with His own Spirit and Life. "The words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit and they are life." John 6:63. "In every command and in every promise of the Word of God is the power, the very life of God by which the command may be fulfilled and the promised realised." Christ's Object Lessons, p.38. Our own righteousness is our feeble attempts to satisfy the requirements of the letter of the law and that is why it is often called the righteousness which is of the law. It is outward only and as far as that is concerned, Paul, before His true conversion, was blameless! He was a pharisee, a mere legalist! But when we receive that same law from the mouth of God, that word imparts power, it begets life! In other words it begets righteousness for "Righteousness is love and love is the light and the life of God." Mount of Blessing, p.18. This is the righteousness which is of God by faith. The question is not, Are you without sin but Do you believe that through faith in the all-sufficient merits of Christ, the law of Christ's mouth impart power, that it begets a new life, even the life of the Infinite One by which every jot and tittle of the law is to be fulfilled? sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.

Moderators John317 Posted August 20, 2011 Moderators Posted August 20, 2011 Im new here I go by the name of ir1844 and I love theology but anyway just to add to the false teaching of Justification if we look at the book of Isaiah chapter 2:5-9 the teaching of the east back then false teaching was creeping in Isreal and now we see the same today . with emerging and new age teachings like from rick warren just to mention a few we have to stick together and study thy word daily . This is the first time I saw your posts. So please accept a very belated welcome for the Adventist Forum! These are some really interesting thoughts, ir1844. I would love to see more of your views on the Forum. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Sonny Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 What did he mean? "If you love me keep my commandments." Context: John 15:1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Note that "in Christ" we already stand perfect (clean). Now let's continue: 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. We can't generate "agape". It's not in us. It's impossible! 6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. BTW, if God is working in us we won't ask selfishly. If we do our prayers will not be answered. See James 4:3 8 This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. 9 "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Keep in mind that to remain in Christ's love is to remain in Christ for He (God) is agape. So now, what are Christ's commands? Christ's commands are: 1] Remain in Me (by faith is implied) and 2] Love each other as I have loved you. Quote
