DR RICH hi again!

I have stated somewhere around here that i have visited the PHILIPINO chgurch as well as the SOMAON church and was surprised to see meat served

i dont recall if i was a vegie at the time so i dont remember if i ate meat that was served that day

so i have tried other potlucks as u suggested in retro

lol and visited many SDA churches thru the years and ate at many SDA POTLUCKS

yum yum

and they served non meat dishes

i will confess something between u and me and the whole SDA FORUM

when i was selling BIBLEBOOKS 25 years ago i met this older fading beauty pagent queen

whose hubby acccidently killed himself when cleaning his weapon and her life spiraled out of control and me bright eyed and bushy tailed gave her a STEPS TO CHRIST and asked me if i was a christian and u told her about JESUS

God led her to HIMSELF thru my witness that day on her front porch and i invited her to my church

i told her we were vegitarians and dont bring anything cause she is a guest

that night before church i hopped over there and found her making chicken and dumplings ..yummy

she was haggard with flour in her hair and chicken feathers everywhere

(kidding about the feathers)

she was about done and had slaved over it for hours and made a behemoth pot for potluck

i was dumbfounded i didnt know what to do

so i did nothing and prayed the church will be nice about it

the church loved it!

a dear old lady at our table fawned over it and asked about it and i sheepishly told her it was real chicken

she fixed a smile on her face and said nice things

i am eternally thankful that no one berated that dear visitor

That perspective changes EVERYTHING-suffering and adversity are the means that makes us hungry for GOD. Disapointments will wean us away wordly occupations. Even sin(when repented of) becomes a mechanism to push us closer to HIM as we experience His Love and Forgiveness.

LOL, glad you were just kidding about the chicken feathers! That's a cool story!

I'm beginning to think that one of the primary reasons for this whole diet thing, not just meat but the whole diet thing, is closely related to clearing the mind. Better health? I guess, if you go about correctly. If you don't, could be worse health? At any rate, the whole "correct diet" deal is enormously complex and fraught with questions of "how".

Never the less, there's something compelling about a simpler diet and a closer connection to Christ. I'm making a little progress in that direction, but mostly in the realm of considering the realistic options I can actually put into play.

Being a single guy, I'm "married" to my microwave and can opener. Take those away and I might starve! :)

I'm beginning to think you're right on the money.... :) The health message is exactly about what you said it is right here.

I know you're most likely joking about the can opener and microwave, but, I was a bachelor for more than a decade, and was in about the same shape you are as far as cooking goes. That was before the day of the microwave though. There is hope for you though because even I have learned how to cook.

I now have somewhere around 30 recipes of my own creating.

Ain't it amazing that you can find real Christians in the SDA church?

I'm not saying the following about you, Parade, so please don't take it that way.

If my only introduction to SDA's was this forum, after all the negativity I see expressed about the SDA church here, I wouldn't come near one. I'd think all those SDAs had to be the meanest people alive.

The constant banging on those church members with whom the inhabitants of this forum disagree creates such a distorted image as to make the church unrecognizable to me. I've been treated very badly at times myself, but those people who have done that were the minority, not the majority. There's unChristlike, unconverted, people in every church in the world, so that the idea that there would be the same thing in the SDA church shouldn't suprise anyone. It shouldn't be the main focus of anyone.

The idea that the church is evil because SDA's are human is the tool of the devil. Oh, how he must give out that satanic laugh of his as he sees the church portrayed as he likes to see it portrayed. He is the "accuser of the brethren", and it seems a lot of people here love engaging in his work.

I like it, even though it's a photoshopped picture. Here's a pic of another animal doing clean up. It's an oldie but a goodie. Hope you haven't see it before.

Pam, I think I like your dad!

And "Flyboy" I read what you wrote and all I have to say is "OK".

As to other posts, just remember where leather comes from and that bugs and germs are live creatures too. It matters not what man ate after first being created, it does matter what God gave them to eat and said it was good, AFTER the flood, as that is the time peiord where we live.

By the way, how come Abel was a rancher? Was it just for the fun of it? Was it just for the wool? If so, why did Abel kill the firstling of the flock, why didn't he just give the wool from the firstling of his flock?

I think that for those of you who have been Adventists for a couple of decades or more, you can agree that people have surely changed over the years.

I'm happy to read of all the positive stories of witnessing to others! I suspect that God's idea of perfection is our heart work, not a checklist fully filled out.

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Overaged, what are you trying to tell us with your avatar being changed to the "Grand Poobah"? Hmmm?

Here is a meat quote to reply with when you get Ellen-Whited about diet. (don't get me wrong - I have no problem with EGW)
