Musicman1228 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Miz3, Ah, but there IS a way to tell if you have been convicted of light sent by God through the Holy Spirit. If this was merely an individual thing then there would be as many different 'lights' as there are people who are searching for it. Many times it seems this is so. Yet God desired UNITY within His Kingdom (John 17), and this Kingdom is not Christianity in general, because Christianity does not have all the truth. This Kingdom is to become unified through the Truth. But God does not give light to individuals alone, he gives light to His Kingdom through the words and teachings of Jesus Christ. And it is those that DO the TRUTH that come to the light. What! Don't believe me? Try this: But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been carried out in God.” John 3:21. These are not my words, they are the words of Jesus Christ. So DOING is critically important to Jesus. You can never come to the light if what you are doing (or not) is not the truth. So in order to be able to find the truth God has given a standard by which to know what to DO so that you can know the truth and thereby come to the light. If He didn't provide this standard then God could be accused of being unfair-and Satan would LOVE that. This 'standard' is that which we can measure everything that comes to us in the guise of 'light' so we don't have to guess as to what is true and what is not. But many will say that this is the purpose of the Holy Spirit, to speak to us individually and convict us of the truth. But there is a spirit in the world that is a marauding spirit masquerading as the Spirit of God, who's purpose in being is to lead us away from the truth so we will DO/Practice lies, thinking we are doing the truth. Evidence abounds for this, yet many will say 'that can't happen to me, because I would know the real Spirit of God from the false spirit'. OK, HOW would you know the difference? This is where the 'standard' comes in. That 'standard' cannot be the Spirit of God, because it is too easy for the spirit of Satan (in the form of individual demons) to twist the truth and deceive many (Matt. 24:4,11). That 'standard' cannot be the Bible because there is contained in the Bible both truth AND lies, wheat and tares; that is because human beings controlled the content even though the Master of the field had sown good seed before the bad was placed there by the enemy. But there is a standard to which we can rally, that marks the boundaries of the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth, and that is THE WORDS AND TEACHINGS OF JESUS CHRIST, as He gave them to those who were His eyewitnesses disciples. It is through these words and the 10 Commandments which are the Covenant of the Kingdom that we can know with complete certainty what truth we must DO so we can come to the LIGHT. And that light is the 'light of the world', Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit will never convict you of anything that is counter to the words of Jesus Christ. Quote
miz3 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Thank God He sent us a messenger, a prophet for our time, so we don't have to wonder. We don't have to worry, we don't have to guess. We CAN lock cinch the truth! He has provided for our every need, He has shone great light on our path. His church on earth, the Seventh-day Adventist church. Warts, problems, disputes and all, it remains the object of His supreme love. I will not abandon it, I will not seek another home, I AM home! I praise His name for such a great reward to have found the truth. Sorry ClubV12 but your Prophet (Ellen White) is no lock cinch. Far from it. To those who put their confidence in the Holy Spirit and His leading are indeed confident of the Truth just as I am confident of the Truth I speak and write to you. My confidence is not in a human (Ellen White)(also receiving second hand info) but my confidence is DIRECT CONTACT with the Holy Spirit who teaches little by little the Truth! I certainly am on much firmer ground. I am just sharing the Truth. As we have already established each person will be Judged by God as to what they have been convicted of in regard to the Light from God. Quote
miz3 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Ah, but there IS a way to tell if you have been convicted of light sent by God through the Holy Spirit. And it is those that DO the TRUTH that come to the light. What! Don't believe me? I am sorry but it is NEVER A GROUP THING! We are not corporately saved! Such a doctrine is NOT BIBLICAL! The fact is there are indeed as many individual 'lights' as there are people. The question is are you in accord with the Light God has given you? Only you and God can answer that question. God does not give every individual the same "amount of Light"! This is why there appears to be so much disunity. Of course contributing to the cacophony of disunity are those who have REJECTED GOD'S LIGHT! The unity you are describing is not a unity within geographical boundaries. Those who have the Light and are Judged by God righteous are indeed in "Unity". Such unity is NOT found within geographical boundaries, or within the amount of knowledge boundaries, or any other such markers or such measurements. The unity is Spiritual! Two humans may be far apart theologically but Spiritually unified. Even if they stood together in the same geographical spot they may not even know that they are Spiritually unified. When humans talk about "unity" they talk about in human terms and within human parameters. God does not work that way. Thus, the unity you are espousing is not the unity of the Bible. For instance on this website are many variations of theology or better yet worldviews (thus we are inclusive of those who believe there is no god, etc.). As such we may not know it but the person who we are arguing with and who may be far from our own worldview might actually be more in unity with us Spiritually than say another person who agrees on every point with our worldview down the line. Thus Spiritual Unity does not follow the rules of what human definitions dictate. Another example: ClubV12 and I disagree theologically by quite a far margin. By your human definition ClubV12 and I would never be said to be unified. However, in God's eyes and by God's definitions it is possible that ClubV12 and I are actually in perfect unity. That does not mean that both of us are right or correct on the stuff. One of us may or may not be correct in regards to the worldview or we may both be wrong, or we both be partially right and partially wrong. However regardless of which it is by the last sentence we could still be both UNITED SPIRITUALLY IN GOD'S EYES! Now that last paragraph is just an illustration but I hope that, that illustration is actually true. Only God knows that! So many have a poor understanding as to what the Bible means by true unity. It is because we think too much in terms of group this and group that. Quote
ClubV12 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 "...my confidence is DIRECT CONTACT with the Holy Spirit who teaches little by little the Truth!" Are you telling us your a prophet, miz3? "One of us may or may not be correct in regards to the worldview or we may both be wrong, or we both be partially right and partially wrong." So, your not sure? I am not guessing or wondering or partially wrong, I have found the truth, lock cinch. It's contained within the doctrines of the Seventh-day Adventist church, confirmed by the Lords messenger, Ellen White. Quote
Musicman1228 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Miz3 said, "I am sorry but it is NEVER A GROUP THING! We are not corporately saved! Such a doctrine is NOT BIBLICAL!" Of course it is 'Biblical', what ever that means. You apparently have not spent a lot of time in the Old Testament, which last I heard was 'Biblical'. Please read Exodus 12 which gives the details of the Passover. The Passover lamb was killed for the first born males of the Kingdom of Heaven. This is NOT an individual salvation, it is a corporate salvation. So when you said that such a doctrine is not biblical it shows a distinct lack of preparation in Scripture. Now, admittedly, if you get rid of the OT and the words and teachings of Jesus Christ in the NT (given to eyewitness disciples Matthew and John) you can make a case for your belief system using only the words and teachings of Paul. Then you must decide who you will believe, Jesus or Paul. This is not as easy decision to make if your whole belief system is based on Paul. Quote
Dr. Rich Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 miz3, to me (my opinion) your belief is another way of saying you are a "New Age" believer in that you, along with millions of others, get their light directly from your god. Didn't Joseph Smith, EGW, Paul, and the many other false apostles and prophets do the same and say the same thing? And as for many truths (lights) that is a direct slap in the face to what Jesus said in John 10:16--ONE flock with ONE Shepherd. (Also see John 11:52 along with all of John 17 in the UNITY they proclaim!) NEVER did Jesus teach that there should be anyone over anyone else such as a teacher, preacher, pope, pastor or even a church board! He said many places that there is only ONE teacher and leader and that is Jesus Christ ONLY! Remember, there was NO leader of the apostles at all, as all of them had the same job to do which can be seen in Matthew 28:18-20. When you read this it is VERY clear that Saul/Paul was NOT needed by Jesus to teach or preach anything to anyone! Jesus told His disciples to teach the world to observe (DOING SOMETHING) for all of you grace and faith believers. Again all of you who mock me and make fun of my understanding---PLEASE show me anywhere in the words of Jesus where I am wrong! I dare you!!! Quote
miz3 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Are you telling us your a prophet, miz3? NO! NO! NO! EMPHATICALLY NO! I am also not the son of a prophet. Quote
miz3 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 So, your not sure? Your statement is wrong! I am very sure of my beliefs and that they are correct! Again all of you who mock me and make fun of my understanding---PLEASE show me anywhere in the words of Jesus where I am wrong! I dare you!!! Your opinion about "new age" is completely wrong. You couldn't be more wrong if you tried. It is not even a close call. 1. You are wrong about the "lights". I never said "lights". You are intentionally misquoting me which says something about you. What I did say God sends Light to us. We either let the Light do its work in us or we REJECT THE LIGHT! Maybe you missed John chapter one and chapter three. Both talk about the Light coming into the world and that Light would conquer the darkness. It also states that those who REJECT THIS LIGHT do so because they love the darkness and hate the LIGHT! The Light of the Gospel of John is the Light that I have been talking about. Duh! I thought you claimed to an expert on the Gospels? 2. Again, in John chapter ten the FLOCK that belongs to God is a Spiritual Flock NOT A PHYSICAL FLOCK ENTITY! The ONLY FLOCK that belongs to God is the Flock that does not REJECT the Light sent from God as stated in John chapter one and John chapter three. That Flock is not found in a single HUMAN ENTITY regardless who or what that corporate entity is! That is why not every Jew will be saved even though the Pharisees thought so. Not every Jew will be lost either. Not every SDA will be saved and not every SDA will be lost. 3. Within God's Spiritual Flock there is a Spiritual Unity. That Unity is exactly United in regard to the Light! It is the Light and the Light alone that unifies the entire Flock! That is in full agreement with John chapter 11 and also John chapter 17. 4. I never said anything about any human entity being the head of the Flock. Of course God is the only Head of the Flock. He claims that in John 17:3. You should be familiar with this text. Paul is also in agreement with God as the Head of His Flock. Whether we call it Flock or Church or whatever is only important in that: a. It is NOT a physical entity. b. It is Spiritual entity made up those humans who did not reject the Light. c. God is the Head and is also the sender of the Light. 5. You are correct that Jesus Christ is the Teacher. However, since Jesus Christ is fully God just as the Father is fully God and the Holy Spirit is fully God. As such they are all instrumentalities that TEACH! They are all the Source of the Light. They are all the Light. They are all the Head of the Flock. They all Lead the Flock. What I have said is true. Its all there in the Gospels! Quote
skyblue888 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Too many theologians around here. Whatever happened to becoming as little children! The matter of salvation is just as simple as ABC. "The matter of salvation is just as simple as ABC. But we don't understand it." F.W.64. Why? Because too many so-called theologians with their so-called knowledge. Light came directly from the throne over a century ago and this most precious light has been despised and it has been in a large degree kept away from the people. "There is salvation for you but only through the merits of Jesus Christ." "The merits of a crucified and risen Saviour are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." "Looking unto Jesus and trusting in His merits we appropriate the blessings of light and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit." But this message which was presented in clear, distinct lines, is still despised. If we go on a little longer, as we have, in rejection of the light from Heaven, we are lost! See T.M.97. sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.

Musicman1228 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 The Kingdom of Heaven is a spiritual entity (corporation) with physical people inside it. These physical people have also been born of the Spirit, the same Spirit that gave birth to Jesus (Rev.12:5, John 3:3,5). Anyone that still has sin in them has not yet been born of this Woman, the Holy Spirit. Jesus has no sin in Him and is therefore the first born of this Woman. If you still sin it is impossible that you have been born again; no one that still sins can take the family name of God. Therefore, since no one has yet finished the process of sanctification while they were still alive there is no one now on earth that is fully righteous, therefore NO ONE has yet been born again (according to the words of Jesus). I have high hope that will happen in the very near future. Please review the prophecy/parable about the 'Wedding feast' and the unwanted guest in Matt. 22. Quote
Dr. Rich Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 miz3, nice try. No matter how one spins or twists the real truth, the only thing that counts are the words of Jesus Christ for HE alone was the light (truth) that came down from heaven to a dark world to show us the correct way to salvation. When EGW said she was a 'lessor light' she usurped the words of Jesus just a Paul did by saying that because Jesus' suffereing and afflictions was lacking that he (Paul) had to make up for this. (See Col. 1:24). It is my own opinion that what Paul and EGW said was blasphemy. 1. I did not quote you. a quote has " around them. You talked about light coming everyone who hears from god, and I wrote this as many truths. There is only ONE truth and it is absolute. 2. It appears you are way off base here. The 'flock' is the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus is the King of this Kingdom. It is a corporate body. Jesus NEVER said or taught that there is anything called a 'personal saviour'. Right now the Kingdom of Heaven is spiritually sleeping--that is all but a few (Rev. 3:4) 3. Those in the Kingdom of Heaven are all united because they keep all of the ten commandments and hold to the testimony (words or light) of Jesus. (Rev. 12:17 4-5 is true but there is a difference between the Father (Almighty God, Mother (Holy Spirit) and the Son (Jesus Christ as Michael the Arch Angel). Quote

For your thesis to be true a person would have to be in heaven which would occur only after the Second Coming. Jesus Christ told Nicodemus (John chapter 3) that he on this earth had to be "born again". He was in no way stating that Nicodemus had be "totally perfect" (physical/inner perfection). Jesus Christ did tell Nicodemus that when he (Nicodemus) would believe in Jesus Christ (on the cross-John 3:16-18) that it was at time he would experience the "new birth" and begin the road to absolute perfection. Come on Dr. Rich! You claim to know the Gospels but once again you demonstrate you gross ignorance. Quote
Musicman1228 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Miz3, That quote was not Dr. Rich but mine, although I don't mind you giving him the credit because he could just a easily have written it as I did. As to your assessment of said quote I, with all due respect, completely disagree with you. Jesus in numerous places has stated categorically that we must be perfect/righteous even as the Father in Heaven is perfect (Matt. 5:48). And not only did He say that He told us (and showed us) how to do it. Did Jesus lie to the 'Rich Young Ruler' when He said: “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” Matt. 19:21. If it was impossible for this young man to become perfect by following Jesus then Jesus lied to him and is, therefore, not God. Did not Jesus in His prayer to His Father say that His own disciples have kept the Father's words, which Jesus brought to them from Heaven? “I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. (7) Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you. (8) For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me." John 17:6-8. This verse shows the importance of knowing and DOING the truth: "But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been carried out in God.” John 3:21. The following verse is not a request, it is a requirement: If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. John 15:10. If it was impossible for us to become righteous as is Jesus He would not have said the following: The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. Rev.3:21. Everything I said in the quote in question is true, because everything in that quote comes from the words of Jesus. If you wish everything in that quote to be wrong then simply compare it with the words of Paul, and it will all be wrong. You must decide whether to believe the words of Paul or the words of Jesus. Study Strongs #5046, found on page 2290 of your Key Word Study Bible (NASV). You will see that it does not refer to people who are without sin or someone who is absolutely perfect in every sense of the word. So it is a mistake to understand it in that way. In order to see this point clearly, try substituting the word "sinless" in place of "perfect" [Gk teleios] in all 19 of the Bible verses where the word occurs. It clearly does not belong. It is usually best translated as "mature" or "of full age," either in the spiritual or the literal senses. Obviously perfection in the human sphere is not the same as perfection in the divine. The man in Matt. 19: 21 wouldn't be sinless simply because he sold his goods and followed Jesus. But then that is not what Jesus was saying. Compare the following uses of teleios: Matt. 5: 48 Matt. 19:21 Romans 12: 2 1 Cor. 2: 6 13: 10 14: 20 Eph. 4: 13 Phil. 3: 15 Col. 1: 28 4: 12 Heb. 5: 14 9:11 James 1: 4 (2) 1:17 1: 25 3:2 1 John 4:18 Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. miz3 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 musicman1228, I never said that Matthew 5:48 was not attainable even in the sense you meant it. What I said was you were wrong in equating such perfection as the BEGINNING OF THE born again experience. The born again experience begins after Justification and when the recipient of the Justification believes God and what God has ALREADY done for them, just as Abraham was given the Promise and then after the Promise was made (DONE) Abraham believed. Abraham then began a whole new experience (born again). Abraham was not perfect yet but he was on his way. That is the way it works according to the Gospel of John which you and Dr. Rich believe is Scripture! In addition, John317's post in regard to the translations and the use of the word perfection is also correct. Thank you John317. Quote

miz3 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Dr. Rich, Here is more expanded version of 1John chapter three. Let us look at this passage to see what it actually states. How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears,[a] we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3 Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure. 4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. 5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. 6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. 7 Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 8 He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. 9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. 10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother. 1John 3:1-10. John states first that God has "lavished" His great Love on us because He counts us as His children. This means that all those who have not REJECTED GOD'S JUSTIFICATION GIFT are now the Children of God. Then John goes on to tell us what it means to be the Children of God. The question is, "How did we become the Children of God?" We became the Children of God because: 1. Jesus Christ Justified us. 2. After being Justified we did NOT REJECT the "finished" work of Jesus Christ on the Cross. 3. The humans in #2 above have now been Born Again because they are the Children of God and no longer the children of evil. 3. Those who did REJECT JESUS CHRIST are NOT THE CHILDREN OF GOD. They continue to be the children of evil. Verse two states that when Jesus Christ comes we will be "like Him (Jesus Christ) and see Him (Jesus Christ) as He is. This is referring to the Second Coming! Verse three states that the Children of God are in the "PROCESS" of purifying themselves. It does not say they are already completely purified. This is called SANCTIFICATION. In other words we, as Children of God are purifying ourselves so that we can be like Jesus Christ! It's a process. Verse four says that sin is the breaking of the Law. It means disobedience to God and His Commands. Verse five says that Jesus Christ appeared (died on the Cross) to take away our disobedience. (Justification). Also notice that Jesus Christ had no sin! That means Jesus Christ did not have a "sinful nature" like me. Jesus Christ had a "sinless nature"! Verse six states that if we indeed are the Children of God (living in Him) we will not keep on sinning. That means as the Holy Spirit teaches us about "our sin" then we will call on God to rid that sin from our life! God will indeed answer all such prayers. However if we continue to sin (ignore God's help) then we are no longer God's Children. We cannot purify what we do not know! Verse seven John warns us to be careful because there are many servants of evil who will lead us astray. Verse eight those who REJECT GOD'S sanctifying work are sinful like the devil. However, Jesus Christ came to destroy the work of the devil in us. Verse nine those who are "born of God" will not sin. a. Notice that the "born of God" comes after the Justification by Jesus Christ and is the beginning of the Sanctification process. b. Notice Sanctification is not a "finished work" because God's "seed" is in the person. A "seed" grows gradually and does not become a "mature" entity until later. Its a "growth" process. c. That means the Children of God are NOT instantly made Perfect but are growing toward being like Jesus Christ. Verse ten is simply we will know them by their fruit. You see Dr. Rich, John the eyewitness is in perfect agreement with Paul in every regard and you are wrong on so many fronts. You try and pluck a text and then "interpret" that text against its context and its message. Naughty, naughty! Quote

Musicman1228 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I would like to point out and then get comments of the fact that Jesus gave prophecy concerning the arrival of FALSE prophets, but never said a word about another end time prophet. Jesus already gave end time prophecy to Daniel and to John in Revelation. He also issued end time prophecy Himself. Then He warned His disciples about the coming of prophets and apostles that would 'lead you astray' (Matt. 24:4-5). He specifically said that there would be MANY false prophets (Matt.24:11). He then gave specific information to John in Revelation concerning the end time Kingdom of Heaven with respect to false apostles (Rev. 2:2), and to a specific end time prophetess that like Jezebel was teaching and seducing the bondservants of Jesus Christ to worship a false god (sexual immorality), and to believe lies as if they were the truth (food sacrificed to idols). In this Jesus was speaking of a self-proclaimed apostle named Paul, and a false prophetess named Ellen G. White. So in this regard there was never any need for another apostle to follow after the apostles that Jesus ordained while He was still here on earth; nor was there need of another end time prophet and prophecy other than that which Jesus gave to Daniel and John, and that which He gave Himself. When Jesus said, "It is finished" He was speaking about EVERYTHING that He came to earth to do. The reason Jesus gave John the prophecy in Revelation and not to someone else is because John was one of His personal disciples, and was trusted by Jesus to fulfill the commission in spite of personal cost. The trust of the eyewitness disciples was obviously very important to Jesus, and neither Paul or Ellen White fit the profile of an eyewitness to the ministry of Jesus Christ. But they do fit the descriptions given by Jesus in prophecy as working for the enemy. Go figure. Quote
