Moderators John317 Posted November 14, 2011 Moderators Posted November 14, 2011 (quoting EGW):...We have no hesitancy in telling you that in order to obtain the immortal inheritance and the eternal substance, you must be overcomers in this probationary life. Everything that blots and stains the soul must be removed, must be cleansed from the heart. We must know what it means to be a partaker of the divine nature, having escaped the corruptions that are in the world through lust. Are you willing to wage war against the lusts of the flesh? Are you ready to battle against the enemy of God and man? Satan is determined to enslave every soul if he can; for he is playing a desperate game to win the souls of men from Christ and eternal life. Will you permit him to steal from you the graces of the Spirit of God, and plant in you his own corrupt nature? or will you accept the great provision of salvation, and through the merits of the Infinite Sacrifice made in your behalf, become a partaker of the divine nature? God has given His only-begotten Son, that through His shame, suffering, and death, you might have glory, honor, and immortality.--Signs of the Times, June 15, 1891. {TDG 175.2} The same ones have taken over the SDA leadership that have the Mormons, they only have more Mason's in the Hierarchy . I love the EGW quote and totally agree with it. What is your evidence that Masons have taken over the hierarchy of the SDA church? If you don't want to do it here, and if you don't want to name names on the Forum, could you please tell me by PM? I completely agree with you that the Bible, SDA theology, and Ellen White's writings are diametrically opposed to Masonry and to all that Masonry represents. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Gibs Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 John317 You ask, "What is your evidence that Masons have taken over the hierarchy of the SDA church"? The proof is in the pudding if you will but discern. There is things John that one just can not reveal and since it isn't necessary I have to not do it. I found out around me here and it seems it got into it early from something I come onto that for me is true but each must look into this for yourself. If you are like a Catholic that the church can do no wrong well, you are wrong. Every chuch that man has started falls. The one Christ started hasn't because it is built on Him and follows Him and has come out of the corruption men bring in each time that happens and it has been happening now for quite a few years and is still going on. Soon the last one will come out and He will come, the time is short now. That is another thing that is being let lay in Adventism, is that His coming is so near now that a thorough house cleaning is needed individually and in the structure. I say structure because that is what it has become. John it will never be put back on track teaching the truth of the salvation issue, never. Me and many here know that as we fought it for years within only to be hated. For around 30 years now it has been taught here in these around me here that we cannot overcome the sinning we do. Not of ourselves but He in us we can be more than conquerors but this is not driven home, a must teaching. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. miz3 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Since the Adventist Church has a democratic form of governance This statement is simply not true. There is no democracy within SDA. There is a proforma and false activity of democracy but there is really no democracy within SDA. Everything depends on those few who actually hold the power whether it is the "local church" all the way up through to the "GC". Quote
ClubV12 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Gib's, how can I be assured your "home church" hasn't followed the same path and you are the one in apostasy, and your members need to "come out"? How? By applying the principles we have for discernment from the bible AND the Spirit of Prophecy. This of course assumes your "church" holds to the Spirit of Prophecy counsel. When we begin to apply these principles we have a major problem right at the door. The prophet says the organized church will go through to the end. That no matter how ineffective and feeble it may appear. Though it looks like it is about to fall, it does not. There is not ONE SOP quote that indicates we are to leave the organized church under any circumstances, no, not ONE. Applying the principles, your church is weighed in the balance and found wanting. There have been calls by various groups to leave the church since 1844. About every decade or so since then some major controversy has split the church and many have left. Forming everything from home churches to newly organized churches to joining with Sunday keeping churches. Sister White had to battle fanaticism in her day, at church after church. Some folks repented, most did not. I submit your church is yet another of a long line of those who have left the Seventh-day Adventist church over issues of doctrinal dispute. The prophet declares the organized church is better off without them. The real problem here, Gib's, is you started looking at people, making a list of all the things that were wrong. This is ONE of four ways we are robbed of our connection to Christ. 1. The pleasures of this world. TV, games, exciting things to do. 2. Worry, doubt, bill's, especially in this category, worry about what others will think of you. 3. Looking to other people. For your standard of acceptable christian lifestyle. Find fault with members, the local church, the Conference and the General Conference. 4. Looking to self! Being crushed by the knowledge your not perfect. That your promises to do better are like ropes of sand. That you have failed again. These are the "four" primary things that take your eyes off Jesus and like Peter, you sink. Worry about what other people will think of you is what it makes it SO difficult to change course. To admit you were wrong, after YEARS on the wrong path, is the hardest trial a man will ever face. It's humiliating, it makes it all but impossible to recover. The longer you stay on an incorrect path, the more difficult it becomes. Few,,, find their way back from this mistake. It is the devils stickiest of traps. Quote
Gibs Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 ClubV12, The organized church that Jesus founded on the Rock, Himself, that is the one, and that church is the one going through and has come out of the apostate each and every time and the coming out is still happening. That is the only true church that has ever been not of the theology of men that comes in that causes the true ones to come out, and that call has been down through the ages since Jesus built it on Himself. That's my church and glad I found it before it was too late. A church of overcomers and come outers. Re 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. That church is the remnant piece of the original that the gates of hell have not ever pulled down. Mt 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Blessed be the overcomer, Re 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. All the rest will be hurt of it. Surrender all nothing withheld, set the will like flint to do His entire will. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
ClubV12 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Your above statement is not consistent with what Sister White has to say on the definition of the organized Adventist church "going through to the end". Serious question: Do you think the prophet has erred? Do you think she is offering merely her own opinion? Do you accept Sister White as an inspired author in some things, and reject other counsel she has? "The enemy is constantly seeking to bring in things that will unsettle the confidence of God’s people. These things may appear very inoffensive, but they contain grave errors and dangers, which must be met. We must take our stand firmly in defense of the truth given us after the passing of the time. The Holy Spirit gave us an understanding of these truths." Battle Creek Letters Quote
ClubV12 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 "God is leading out a people. He has a chosen people, a church, on the earth whom He has made the depositaries of His law. He has committed to them sacred trust and eternal truth to be given to the world. He would reprove, and correct them." Manuscript Releases, Volume 1 Nos. 19-96 When Sister White speaks of the "church", the chosen people, those to whom He has committed a sacred trust, she is referring to the organized, sanctioned, visible body of believers known as Seventh-day Adventists. Not an independant group here and there, not off shoots, not those who have formed a small home church and separated themselves from the visible church, but the Seventh-day Adventist church. There is NOT ONE quote from Sister White that can be shown as a call to separate from this body of believers if you are or have been a member. Once you do, you have lost your anchor. Every wind of doctrine that blows you will be subjected to. It will be impossible to separate truth from error. As we get closer the end of time the the path of truth and the path of error will lay so close to each other even the best bible and Spirit of Prophecy students will be unable to discern it. Our only hope will be prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit. This "power of discernment" won't come as some kind of miracle, it will be based on the principles you have already learned and the Holy Spirit will bring those to your attention. IF you HAVE learned them! Once you see the error you will find that the two paths are not so close together after all. The path of error will lay far from the path of truth and you will wonder how you were deceived in the first place! Quote
Moderators Gerr Posted November 14, 2011 Moderators Posted November 14, 2011 The other forums I work on are not SDA and the theology in those is no different than what is expounded here. In short a saved in sin theology. The great difference is the Sabbath and it isn't regarded and guarded as it used to be. Now it is believed Christ did it all and when coming and getting His forgivness it is for past sin and for all sins future, and to overcome is impossible. He came and died once and for all, yes for Adam on down to the end and His Blood only needed to be shed but the one time. The shedding of Blood was ended. I'm apalled to no end of this new theology. Hogwash! He made it so everyone could be an overcomer, to say different is a lie from the pit. If you mean that we can cease from intentional/willful transgressions, I would agree with you. But if you mean cessation from even non-intentional, inadvertent, reflexive sins, that's where I would totally disagree with you. That's not gonna happen until we shed this sinful flesh. There has only been one person in this forum that I recall who has ever said that he will continue to sin intentionally until Jesus comes while claiming assurance of salvation. And in all the churches I've ever held membership in (there has been several), there has been possibly only one who held the view that one can sin INTENTIONALLY and still be in a state of salvation. Guest Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 We have a sacred duty to support the church, it should be our first interest. Where does this sacred duty, first interest stuff come from? I'd like to see it. I don't totally disagree with it, but it looks like you may be confused as to what actually constitutes "God's church". You seem to think it's a corporation. So show me from the Bible and/or the SoP, where it is a sacred duty to support a corporation, ANY corporation, including the SDA Church corporation, no matter what it does. Lets not forget what happened with the Jews, God's chosen people. I think you'll find that, that doctrine, although it is alive and well in your head, (and a lot of other people's) did not come from the Bible or the SoP. Our first interest should be "What must I do to be saved". And then second, would be helping someone else to be saved. I would say supporting the organization is further on down the list. The people that would say "support the organization first and foremost" are more likely to be Catholics, Masons, Jesuits, The New Black Panther Party, etc. etc. But I realize a lot has changed within the church organization, so maybe this is something new. Quote
ClubV12 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 When we properly understand, waht must I do to be saved, at some point our relationship to the church will begin to change. It is no longer about "us" and what it can do for us. It is about service and what can I do for the Lord and His church on earth. There is absolutely NO QUESTION of what Ellen White is referring to in these quotes and many, many more like them. What she calls the "visible church". Her comments about the "church" may appear to fall were directed to the LEADERSHIP (in a letter) of the Adventist church. There is a broader definition of the Gods church which includes believers even in Sunday keeping churches! But there is ONE church on earth which is the SINGLE OBJECT of His supreme affection. Leave the church, loose your anchor. Does that mean we CONDONE the sin we see in the church, the leadership, the institutions? NO!!! NEVER!!! Should we leave as a means of protesting? NO! NEVER! Under ANY circumstances. "Every believer should be wholehearted in his attachment to the church. Its prosperity should be his first interest, and unless he feels under sacred obligations to make his connection with the church a benefit to it in preference to himself, it can do far better without him." Testimonies for the Church, Volume 4 "Many do not realize the sacredness of church relationship and are loath to submit to restraint and discipline. Their course of action shows that they exalt their own judgment above that of the united church....." Testimonies for the Church, Volume 4 The people that say "support the organization first and foremost" should be Seventh-day Adventists. As difficult as thay may be to comprehend, it stands as THE message Sister White had for this body of believers. She did not say that about ANY other group. Make of it what you will, I read it, I believe it, I'll follow it. Even if I DON'T understand it, I'll move out in faith. I am reminded of how when we put self aside and got to work for others, it is our own salvation we are really working out! Quote

ClubV12 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 We will see that very thing play out within the church RLH! Sister White tells us there will be Adventist Pastors, from the pulpit, urging the members to accept the Sunday law. She says there will be "open air" meetings held in town, by ADVENTISTS, likely denomination LEADERS, urging the townfolk and other Adventist to accept the Sunday laws! This is ONE aspect of "though the church appears to fall, it does not". IF some think the church is about to fall NOW, or has fallen, they aint seen nothing yet. This is a warmup. When the shaking hit's in earnest whole churches will be empty! MOST churches will loose massive numbers of membership. Stand by, don't you dare follow them, Sister White says the churches will fill up with those who are "coming out of the world". Those who finally realize that NOTHING can hold them back from following the Lord fully, like they have longed to do for years. But family and job and responsibilities would not allow. Or, they simply remained ignorant of the coming crisis, but see it clearly now. It will be a "church of newbies"!!! Will you be there to help educate them? To encourage them? Or will you have left? What IF the church is locked up on Sabbath and ALL the former members have taken the keys and no one can get in? We'll have worship in the parking lot if need be. WHEN the time comes to flee the cities and even the small towns, THEN we will meet where ever, when ever we can. The plagues will have either started or about to start when that time comes, the shaking will be complete. We ARE going through to the end, the Lord has told us and His word is sure! Quote
Gibs Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 Mercy, what will you educate them in? Saved in sin? That is the stance now it, the church has taken, I've seen it begin here 30 yrs ago and then some real occult things come in. Super NLP, Lab 1,2,3 and the list goes on. They wanted us to buy the book "From Frogs To Princesses". Was any of it ever recanted of? No way. The last two that I'v caught that have come about is "Theistic Evolution", may not be known as that in the church by that name and the latest I know of is the "Emerging Church" theology", who is that stuff of? Who is following the Word in that stuff. I say get off it and wake up. Eze 33:6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand. Isa 58:1 ¶ Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. The remnant church will never preach saved in sin, just believe and you are saved. The proposal was given to a large number of students in the SDA accademy not too far from me, to them, "if you believe in Jesus Christ, raise your hands"? Of course all raised their hands. Then they were told they all were saved. A teaching of the worldly churches has come in, EGW, "There are grand truths, long hidden under the rubbish of error, that are to be revealed to the people. The doctrine of justification by faith has been lost sight of by many who have professed to believe the third angel's message. The Holiness people have gone to great extremes on this point. With great zeal they have taught, "Only believe in Christ, and be saved; but away with the law of God." This is not the teaching of the word of God. There is no foundation for such a faith. This is not precious gem of truth that God has given to his people for this time. This doctrine misleads honest souls. The light from the word of God reveals the fact that the law must be proclaimed. Christ must be lifted up, because he is a Saviour who forgiveth transgression, iniquity, and sin, but will by no means clear the guilty and unrepentant soul". {RH, August 13, 1889 par. 15} Don't you know the proof is in the pudding? The true and safe and only way is in Him and with Him all the way home. His Church is founded on Him and His body the true church are overcomers of sin. Christ in you and you too can have that victory. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
ClubV12 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Gibs I'm surprised you don't seem to understand the last day events, the shaking, the massive exodus from the church, the influx of new people (largely as a result of the Sunday laws). These are not my opinions, Sister White spells it all out in great detail. That will be a time of such crisis much of what we study today will not be a an issue of concern. The nature of Christ will not be the sermon and study topic. It will be Christ and His righteousness. It will be about drawing closer to Him. We won't be studying Daniel 11, that will have already been fulfilled. These last day events will move very rapidly, "doctrine" will be reduced to the absolute minimum, the Sabbath will be the last great test of faith. The people in the church will ALL be perfectly united while the storm rages around us and the plagues begin to fall. The nominal Adventists, the off shoots, the fanatics will be long gone, the church at last purified. That time is not yet, wait for it, it will surely come!! Don't jump off the boat and run ahead of the Lord. Don't be found sleeping, for it WILL come. If I understand your theology to some degree, you will be setting "time frames" for this and that event. 3 and half years after the Sunday law, then, and after that 45 days of "what ever". Very dangerous ground, we know not how long or when these various events will happen beyond general guidelines of time. No, DANIEL 11 and 12 DO NOT specify a time frame for the every end of time. Daniel specifices a time frame for the BEGINNING of the "time of the end", that was 1844, we are living in the time he prophesied. Quote
LifeHiscost Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 If you are referring to "errors" in the church, which one? EGW also had this to say: We must go no faster than we can take those with us whose consciences and intellects are convinced of the truths we advocate. We must meet the people where they are. Some of us have been many years in arriving at our present position in health reform. It is slow work to obtain a reform in diet. We have powerful appetites to meet; for the world is given to gluttony. If we should allow the people as much time as we have required to come up to the present advanced state in reform, we would be very patient with them, and allow them to 21 advance step by step, as we have done, until their feet are firmly established upon the health reform platform. But we should be very cautious not to advance too fast, lest we be obliged to retrace our steps. In reforms we would better come one step short of the mark than to go one step beyond it. And if there is error at all, let it be on the side next to the people. {3T 20.3} Caleb and Joshua did not leave the Israelite camp because their rebellion and errors. Quote Lift Jesus up!!
LifeHiscost Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 My point is that if we concentrate upon looking for error, we will find it....but we will take our eyes off the One who leads us in this world. Maintain that fellowship, and chuck the "looking" for errors... "I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one."John 17:15 NLT God blesses! Gibs Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 This a reply to some of the objections some have to what I have stated. I merely state ALL must be overcomers now in this life with the power He gives us by His indwelling. Many want to call that "works". It is He in you that does the works as we of ourselves have no power over the evil one. Most are denying the power to become overcomers the way He has set for you to do so. He don't make you to be an overcomer, you must use your will to do His will and love what He loves and that takes full surrender, nothing withheld, broken completly on Him and then He comes and dwells within and you are empowered to walk above your past sining and are now a victorious overcomer. It' the only way there is about it. It is not just believe and you are saved. He died once and for all from Adam to the last one who will come to His salvation. But you are not saved once and for all time at the moment of repentance. He can't save you at that moment for sins you commit in the future. When sin happens again the sinner has fallen back in his old wallow and must come again repent and He again says, you are forgiven, go sin no more, take my indwelling power up and walk as I walked if you are mine. You will if you are totally His but if anyting is left to another master you fall back in the old wallow and need to be washed again. One asked, where's the proof the church teaches saved in sin, it's expounded in your comments back to me and the statements you make. I even had an early pastor probably now close to 40 years or so ago pray for us that He must save us in our sins as we cannot overcome them. That didn't ring right to me and I began to gradually see that we are to have the victory and that He made the way very possible. When we don't dear Bro.s and Sisters we prove we don't love Him as claimed. Then the second pastor we had from him even fought hard there is no way we can stop sinning. I confronted him on that many times and he got mad and left. Now there were many high in the leadership teaching the same thing and this pastor would refer to them and call them by name as my "friend". Yes that theology has been been in the denomination now many years Folks, dear ones, this is what caused that terrible shaking that split the church now many years ago, I suppose some of you are too young to know of it but there is still many coming out because of this doctrine. One asked if I was working my way to heaven, no I am not, my works don't save me, He has and now dwells in me and now my desire and all that I care to do and want to do is His will for me and now I am totally free within His will for me. Any sin would prove I am not free yet in Him. That is what it means to be a freeman or woman in Him. Any and all can be, have faith dear friends in Him that He is your strength and stay. When He dwells within the evil ones can see Him and know they are a defeated foe in overcoming you. You would have to put out the indwelling Saviour that they could overcome you. He is your Saviour of past sins and will be your indwelling Saviour for you to walk free of sinning. When He says you are forgiven, go sin no more, he wasn't spoofing you. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
ClubV12 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Thats quite rambling it appears to me Gib's. I think what your trying to explain is righteousness by faith. Gerry summed it up nicely in one sentence: "Or are you working your way to heaven? People who truly believe will obey!" The law will take care of itself for those who truly believe. In 1888 there was a huge problem among the brethren trying to find the balance between justification and sanctification, in other words, righteousness by faith and the law. Sister White says we have preached the law until we are dry as the hills of Gilboa. She says let the law take care of itself. She loved the righteousness by faith message, the preaching of which she called large morsels of truth being fed to the people. Justification doesn't happen just once, it happens constantly, as we pursue the "law" from a spirit of love and a glad heart. "Oh how I love thy law." An offering forced from you to give to God has no meaning, it is worthless. Keeping the law without a spirit of love is also worthless. In either case, the offering, the law, must flow from the heart. Quote
Gibs Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 What is rambling ClubV12 is the working to getting around being an overcomer. I've seen it for years now and the straight testimony against it brought about the shaking. That was to the Laodicean church that is lukewarm today. Ro 6:1 ¶ What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? Ro 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? The above verses sets it straight, do you or don't you believe that? If people don't believe they can have the victory over it will it ever happen? Of course not. EGW speaks, a short one. Shall we obtain strength from God, and win victory after victory, or shall we try in our own strength, and at last fall back defeated, worn out by vain efforts? Let us, by unreserved surrender to God, obtain the power that everyone must have who conquers in the battle against evil.—Manuscript 2, 1903. {CTr 89.7} It's a victory and that one is such a wonderful and sweet one no should miss because it is so easy, do it like she states above. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
ClubV12 Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 "Unreserved surrender to God",,,, IS rigtheousness by faith. Sister White says the third angels message IS righteousness by faith. Did you get that? It IS what Sister White says is the third angels message. THE message, above all others, the Adventist church has been given of God to deliver to mankind. How then do you reconcile faith and works in their proper relationship? IMPOSSIBLE without understanding righteousness by faith!!! You will either put to much emphasis on "works" or to much on "grace". Some will misinterpret righteousness by faith to mean "grace" and grace only. Some will reject it altogether because it apparently lowers the standard of the law to the very dust. Either position is wrong. ALL of us must find the balance, the meaning through a profound relationship with Jesus. You cannot learn it from a book, I cannot explain it on pages, it is something that must be experienced within the heart. Quote
Gibs Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 ClubV12, Ah yes righteousness by faith and that is what I preach. Our overcoming is only by faith that He in us is how and only how we can overcome sin and the devil. Which is an absolute that must be done to inherit the kingdom. I will paste some scripture and EGW's comments to set the thought. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son [daughter]. Revelation 21:7. {SD 372.1} In order to inherit all things, we must resist and overcome sin. "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17. Through the power of Christ, men and women have broken the chains of sinful habit. They have renounced selfishness. The profane have become reverent, the drunken sober, the profligate pure. Souls that have borne the likeness of Satan have become transformed into the image of God. This change is in itself the miracle of miracles. A change wrought by the Word, it is one of the deepest mysteries of the Word. We cannot understand it; we can only believe, as declared by the Scriptures, it is "Christ in you, the hope of glory." {AA 476.1} When the Spirit of God controls mind and heart, the converted soul breaks forth into a new song; for he realizes that in his experience the promise of God has been fulfilled, that his transgression has been forgiven, his sin covered. He has exercised repentance toward God for the violation of the divine law, and faith toward Christ, who died for man's justification. "Being justified by faith," he has "peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 5:1. 1 John 4:4, 5: "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them." 1 John 2:5, 6: "But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected; hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk even as he walked." 1 Peter 2:9: "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." As we read the word of God, how plain that God's people are peculiar and distinct from the unbelieving world around them. Our position is interesting and fearful; living in the last days, how important that we imitate the example of Christ, and walk even as he walked. "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me." I hope that clears up my position on "righteousness by faith" and that brings one to being a must be overcomer only as it can be done. I cannot emphasize the following verse enough as it contains that secret. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Moderators Gerr Posted November 16, 2011 Moderators Posted November 16, 2011 You are objecting to the doctrine that our salvation depends SOLELY on placing our faith in Christ, yet you have not commented on these Bible passages: ESV | ‎Ac 16:31 And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” ESV | ‎Jn 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." ESV | ‎Ga 2:16 yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified." ESV | ‎Eph 2:8 "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God," Let me ask you again, does your view of overcoming include even the unintentional/unwillful mistakes? That in this life a believer can achieve total perfection? Quote
