This is why righteousness by faith is such an important concept. As Paul said, he dies daily. So we must accept HIS righteousness daily. The closer we come to Christ, the more glaring and obvious our sinful condition is revealed. Perfection is only possible by accepting His perfection.

First faith not based on truth is presumption. We have too much presumption today.

Now I am with EGW on our being perfect, We are to be perfect in our sphere as He is in His sphere. And that is to walk the same as Christ walked when on earth in our fallen nature as one of us with our propensities and overcame from where we are. He made it possible for us to do exactly the same. He in us is the same power He had with the Father in Him. That is the way given us to obtain the same perfection Jesus had and we are counseled to do that very firmly by Him.

None can get around to another way as that is the only way there is. Was it easy for Him? Well it won't be for you and me either, as self, the sinful nature must be crucified and put on the divine nature and walk with it.. That is Christ in you, the "only" hope of glory.

That my friends is being "dead to sin" and is crushing to self.

Is your faith based on the presumption that we can continue in sin cause we can't overcome? "That faith may abound"?.

Ro 6:1 ¶ What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

Ro 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Our true faith is in Him in us and now overcoming is very possible and expected.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

"We are to be perfect in our sphere as He is in His sphere."

That is the work we have been given, a worthy goal. In practical terms that means understanding the "blue print" for our personal lives, moving with sure and sound steps toward it, toward Him. Putting away sin where ever, when ever we see it in our lives, shunning worldly things and the "stuff" that distracts us from the goal. THIS is our "work", our calling. Something I and all of us should take seriously. I won't judge others on who is and who is not presuming anything. I will focus on the blue print of His life. As offered in the bible and the Spirit of Prophecy and encourage, uplift and help those around me to strive toward that goal, not as if their life depends on it, but because their life depends on it!

The closer I get, the more I will realize how impossible that goal is. The more I will understand my only hope is His righteousness and I must accept it by faith.

There are several different meanings applied to Daniel 12:7, here is one I think that fits well.

"..... When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed."

The "power" of the Saints, broken. They will see there in no hope in their righteousness, they are powerless to do for themselves. They MUST rely solely on Jesus' righteouness. THIS is one aspect of the third angels message, righteousness by faith.

And the truth is - righteousness is RECEIVED by faith, not something achieved by working. Paul has made it clear. And it goes back to Genesis also. (Gen 15:6). However, I understand your concern. There ARE those who think that because Jesus did it all, therefore they have nothing else to do, forgetting that they are to work out what God works in, Phil 2:12,13.

BTW, what does it mean to be "perfect in our sphere?"

Point of clairification on Daniel 12:7 and my take on one meaning.

The power of the Saints won't be utterly and completely "broken" until we are deep into the time of trouble, nearing or at the point of the death decree. Having already suffered great persecution, some have died, others in jail, families split. We are tired, cold, hungry, hiding in the mountains having fled for our lives. Finally, facing a decree of death. THAT is when it becomes glaringly obvious and is driven home to us how "powerless" we are, we are totally "broken". Thats when "all these things" are completed and at last righteousness by faith is fully understood. Our understanding of it (R by F), varies from person to person now, because we all see it through a glass, darkly. But then, we will all be perfectly united in our understanding.

...it is at the hour of midnight our deliverance will come...

When we hear that voice declaring the day and hour of His coming and we realize at last, we are about to be welcomed home. No more will we be concerned with searching our hearts for any sin in our lives, our focus will not be on "us", it will be only on Him.

ClubV12,

You state,

"The closer I get, the more I will realize how impossible that goal is".

Mr 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

Just got to get with the right program is all and then you can be an overcomer.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

The "right program" is "self must die", entirely, completely, every ember, every spark. How does God work that impossible miracle in our lives?

One such way is trial by fire, persecution, setbacks, problems in your life, with family, friends, the church, the neighbors. Only when stressed to the ultimate degree and it becomes very dark do we see the glow from that ember of self, still burning... The closer we come to Him, the more those burning embers of self are revealed. We see how unworthy we are of so great a sacrifice. At some point (Daniel 12:7 for those alive when that time comes) you realize, it is impossible for you to extinguish self, only He can do that. Thank God for the trials of life! :)

The picture I'm getting from your posts is that you seem to have a healthy view of righteousness.
